Chapter 153: Chapter 153: Dr. Samuel
Asher turned toward the source of the voice.
He saw Steve looking at him with a curious expression.
Steve then walked up to Asher before asking,
"Who are you, and where are you from?"
Asher replied without any change in his expression,
"My name is Lucifer. I’m from Westvale. It’s a small town, so you probably haven’t heard of it."
Steve thought for a moment about what Asher had just said before asking,
"You seem to be unaffected by the illusion you just saw. That’s quite interesting. If you’re from a small town like that, which is mostly peaceful, then why were you so unaffected by the illusion?"
Asher thought for a moment before replying,
"I’ve always been like this since birth. That’s also one of the reasons I decided to become a healer. Healers have to face many situations like those, and I thought I was naturally suited for it."
Steve looked at Asher for a few more moments, as if trying to find something suspicious about him.
However, he found nothing.
He then turned and walked toward the others, many of whom were still vomiting or trying to recover from the illusion.
Looking at them, he said in a calm tone,
"Well, at least no one fainted, so you’re all good enough."
He paused for a moment before continuing,
"Now, follow me again."
Everyone was still disturbed by what they had just seen.
However, no one complained.
After seeing what had happened to the woman, none of them dared to question Steve again.
They silently followed behind him.
After walking for a while, they arrived in front of a large door.
Two guards stood on either side of it.
Both of them were Master-rank.The moment they saw Steve, they immediately bowed.
Steve gave them a slight nod.The two guards then stepped aside and slowly opened the door.
After the door opened, everyone stepped inside.
As soon as they entered, they saw a large hall filled with healers walking from one place to another. Many Master-rank guards were also stationed throughout the area, standing guard every few meters.
The place looked like a hospital.
However, there wasn’t a single patient in sight.
Despite a group of twenty-one Master-rank healers entering the hall, none of the healers even glanced in their direction.
Only the Master-rank guards looked toward Steve.
The moment they saw him, they respectfully bowed before returning to their duties.
Steve then looked at one of the nearby Master-rank guards and called him over.
The guard immediately walked up to Steve before bowing respectfully.
Steve looked at him and asked,"Where is Dr. Samuel?"
The Master-rank guard replied in a respectful tone,"He is in Room 21, Grandmaster Steve."
Steve simply nodded.
Without saying anything else, he started walking.
Asher and everyone else silently followed behind him.
However, they were now even more confused about what was happening and what was going to happen next.
Steve led everyone through the hall before stopping in front of a door with "Room 21" written on it.
He didn’t knock.
Instead, he simply stood there and waited.
Everyone else also remained silent and waited behind him.
Around thirty minutes passed. Finally, the door opened. Two men walked out of the room.
One of them was a Grandmaster-rank member of the Church, just like Steve.
The other was a middle-aged man wearing a white healer’s coat.
Unlike the Grandmaster beside him, the man’s face was filled with excitement, as if something inside the room had gone exactly as he had hoped.
He was Dr. Samuel.
The moment he stepped out of the room, he noticed Steve standing there.
A smile immediately appeared on his face.
"So you’re finally back, Steve."
Steve replied in a respectful tone,"Don’t worry. They’re all good enough."
He then paused for a moment before looking at Asher.
"As for the best one..."
A faint smile appeared on his face."Without any doubt, it’s this one."
Dr. Samuel looked at Asher for a few moments before saying,"He doesn’t seem that special."
He paused briefly before continuing,
"But if you say so, then I suppose he’s good enough.Still, I need to examine him myself."
He then turned toward the Grandmaster standing beside him.
"Klein, take him and follow me to Room 49."
Grandmaster Klein simply nodded.
Without saying a word, he walked over to Asher and grabbed hold of his arm, as if afraid he might try to run away.
Asher looked at Grandmaster Klein, but he didn’t try to resist, since he can resist a Grandmaster unless he goes all out and that is out of questions.
Dr. Samuel then looked at Steve before shifting his gaze toward the remaining twenty Master-rank healers.
He said in a calm tone,"Get them familiar with the work here, then put them in charge of observing the results."
Steve simply nodded.
"Understood."
Asher glanced at Steve before looking at Dr. Samuel.
’This guy is acting like a subordinate to this doctor,’ he thought.
Just what exactly does this man do for even a Grandmaster to treat him with this much respect?.
Before Asher could think any further, Dr. Samuel turned around and started walking.
Grandmaster Klein immediately led Asher along by the arm.
Asher didn’t resist.
He simply went with the flow.
After walking for a while, they stopped in front of a room.
Room 49.
Before Asher could say anything, Dr. Samuel took out a strange helmet from his storage ring.
He calmly put it on before opening the door and walking inside.
Asher watched him enter before looking at Grandmaster Klein.
Then he asked,"Don’t you think I need one too?"
Klein didn’t say anything, completely ignoring Asher.
Instead, he simply led Asher inside the room.
The moment Asher entered, he looked around.
The room was spacious and almost completely empty.
Only a large stone table stood in the middle of the room.
His gaze then fell upon what was lying on the table.
It was a strange creature, restrained by several glowing magic formations and spells that Asher didn’t recognize.
