Chapter 151: Chapter 151: Mess

The next day, Asher arrived at the Church’s main branch. Since the Church had access to teleportation points, the journey that would normally have taken weeks was completed in mere moments.

After arriving, he was simply told to wait until he was summoned.

Asher didn’t ask any questions. He accepted the instructions without complaint and spent his days quietly and occasionally helping with minor healing duties whenever he was asked.

Then, one week passed without anything happening.

Not once during that week was he given an explanation or assigned any significant task.

Asher didn’t understand what this meant. He had assumed that he would simply be able to work in the Church’s main branch, and, if lucky, might be able to learn about some things that outsiders didn’t know. Since he had been invited here, he had thought things had become easier for him. After all, his vessel had already reached the Master Rank, and he had been planning to join the Church anyway by killing a Master Rank healer who was already working here, which might have been a little difficult, but he still kept waiting and didn’t do anything that might arouse suspicion on him.

Then, on the morning of the eighth day, a Church attendant finally came to him and asked him to follow him.

Asher silently nodded before following the attendant.

The attendant led him through several long corridors before stopping in front of a pair of large wooden doors adorned with the emblem of the Church.

The doors slowly opened.

Asher stepped inside.

The room was already occupied.

Twenty-one other Master-rank healers were present, all standing or sitting quietly as they waited. Judging by their robes and badges, each of them had come from different branches of the Church.

Most of them wore curious expressions.

Some looked around the room, trying to figure out why they had all been gathered in one place.

Others quietly observed the people around them, perhaps wondering if they recognized any familiar faces.

After all, there was no reason for so many Master-rank healers to be assembled unless something important was about to happen.

Normally, after arriving at the main branch, they would simply be assigned their duties and begin working immediately.

Instead, they had all been kept waiting for an entire week before being called here together.

Naturally, they were curious.

Asher looked at everyone present and then thought inwardly ’I am not getting a good feeling from this, did i again got myself in some trouble again?’.

But knowing it is no use now since he is already here and can’t do anything now ,Asher discarded that thought and went to one corner of the room, waiting for whatever was about to happen.

Just as the room remained filled with quiet murmurs, the doors opened once again.

A Grandmaster-rank member of the Church entered the room.

The moment he stepped inside, every conversation came to an immediate stop.

All twenty-two Master-rank healers, including Asher, turned their attention toward him.

The Grandmaster-rank member calmly walked to the front of the room before stopping and looking over everyone present with a gentle smile.

"Hello, everyone."

"My name is Steve."

"I am sure all of you have many questions about why you’ve been gathered here."

He paused for a brief moment, allowing his words to settle.

"But don’t worry."

"All of your questions will be answered soon."

Everyone remained silent and simply waited for Grandmaster Steve to continue.

Steve looked at each healer present in the room before speaking in a calm tone.

"You have all been selected for a very special task—one that will help humanity grow even further and benefit every human in the world."

A look of slight confusion appeared on the faces of the healers present.

They didn’t understand what kind of work, other than healing others, could possibly help humanity grow even further.

Asher silently observed Steve.

That does not sound good, he thought.

However, he didn’t say anything and simply continued watching.

After a brief moment of silence, one of the Master-rank healers spoke up.

She was a woman who appeared to be in her thirties.

Looking at Steve with a curious expression, she asked,

"What do you mean by ’special task,’ Grandmaster Steve?"

Grandmaster Steve looked at the woman before replying in a gentle, unhurried tone.

"You will know soon."

He paused briefly before continuing.

"However, before that, I need to conduct a small test for everyone present here so that I can make sure you are truly suited for this task."

The healers in the room became even more confused.

They had all assumed they had already been chosen.

If that was the case, why was there suddenly another test?

After a brief silence, the same woman spoke again.

There was no hostility in her voice, only genuine confusion.

"But didn’t you just say that we have already been selected?"

She frowned slightly before continuing.

"If that’s the case, why do you need to test us?"

She glanced around the room before looking back at Steve.

"We are all Master-rank healers. None of us reached this rank through luck alone."

Several of the other healers nodded in agreement.

Reaching the rank of Master Healer required years, sometimes decades, of study, experience, and talent.

It wasn’t a title that could be obtained by chance.

Naturally, they couldn’t understand why their abilities were suddenly being questioned.

Asher, however, remained silent.

He didn’t think Steve was testing their healing ability.

If that had been the case, there would have been no reason to gather them all here after already selecting them.

So the test is probably for something else, Asher thought as he quietly waited for Steve’s answer.

Grandmaster Steve looked at the woman and then said in the same gentle tone,

"You will know soon. Just wait."

The woman frowned slightly.

She was about to say something again, but before she could—

A large magic formation suddenly appeared on the floor of the room.

Intricate lines of light spread across the entire surface, connecting countless symbols into a single, enormous formation.
