Chapter 394: Chapter 394 - 367: Nothing You Do Is Remotely Human
Hearing that the man was actually here to apologize, Fang Chenyi understood. It was definitely because the guy had seen his Lamborghini.
He shook his head helplessly and said with a smile,
"Heh, no need. What would I do with a phone you bought? But there is one thing you should remember: it pays to be a little kinder."
After that simple remark, Fang Chenyi rolled up his window, started the car, and slowly drove away with a press of the accelerator.
After all, he didn’t know the man. A well-intentioned reminder was enough. Whether the man would listen was not Fang Chenyi’s concern.
The middle-aged man watched the Lamborghini drive off, standing lost in thought for a long while. Finally, he gritted his teeth and clenched his fist.
’This is how a true tycoon acts! I have to learn from that young man!’
With that in mind, he turned around, got into his own car, and floored it toward the nearest workwear store. If he was going to learn from a tycoon, he had to start by dressing like one. He was going to buy a set of camouflage fatigues for himself!
Leaving that matter aside, let’s turn back to Fang Chenyi. He turned the steering wheel, and the Sesto Elemento headed toward the construction site.
However, when he reached the construction site and saw the cratered road ahead, Fang Chenyi was speechless. ’Damn it, I should have driven the Knight XV out today~’
He had no choice but to find a flat spot to park the supercar. After getting out, he looked at the endless line of dump trucks and various other construction vehicles in the distance. Now Fang Chenyi completely understood how five billion could have been spent in such a short time!
In less than a month, the place had undergone a world-shaking transformation from what he remembered.
A small hill that used to be in the distance was gone, and a decent-sized reservoir had also vanished.
Gazing at the vast, flat expanse of land stretching as far as the eye could see, Fang Chenyi couldn’t help but marvel at the incredible speed of the work.
He took out his phone and called Wei Yilong directly, telling him he was stuck on the outskirts and couldn’t get in. He asked him to arrange for a vehicle to pick him up.
Wei Yilong said he’d be right there and then hung up.
Fang Chenyi leaned against his car and waited for about ten minutes. Just as he was getting impatient, a large dump truck suddenly came barreling toward him from the distance.
Startled, Fang Chenyi quickly dodged to the side.
Just as he moved, the large dump truck arrived, screeching to a halt right in front of him.
It immediately kicked up a massive cloud of dust that filled the air.
Seeing this, Fang Chenyi immediately covered his nose with his sleeve, feeling annoyed. ’How the fuck is this guy driving...’
"Brother Fang! Boss! What are you waiting for? Get in!"
Just as Fang Chenyi was cursing inwardly, Wei Yilong’s voice came from within the dust cloud. Fang Chenyi froze for a second, then couldn’t help but swear.
"Holy shit, you’re the one who drove this thing here?"
After swearing, he wasted no more time and ran toward the large dump truck, covering his mouth and nose.
’Good thing I’m wearing fatigues today. A suit would’ve been completely ruined.’
He pulled open the door, climbed into the passenger seat, and glared at the grinning Wei Yilong in the driver’s seat. Then he pointed at Wei Yilong’s nose and said irritably,
"I’m telling you, you did that on purpose, you punk. Seriously, you don’t do a single thing a normal person would do!"
"Hehehe, you’ve got me all wrong, Boss. I really didn’t do it on purpose. Uh, Boss, you might want to buckle up. The roads here are full of potholes, so it’s a really bumpy ride."
Listening to Fang Chenyi’s scolding, Wei Yilong just chuckled. He stomped on the gas, and the big dump truck let out a series of thunderous ROARS as it charged out of the dust cloud.
Just as Wei Yilong had said, the road hadn’t been leveled yet. It was full of potholes, and riding in the truck felt like being on a bumper car.
After nearly half an hour of bumping and jostling, they finally arrived at the center of the massive construction site. Along the way, Fang Chenyi did a rough calculation: he had seen no fewer than a thousand different construction vehicles on the road!
In the distance, Fang Chenyi could see the center of the area, the site of the Sun Tower. They were already starting to pour the foundation.
The large dump truck slowly pulled up to the entrance of a simple command post not far from the central tower.
On the way, Wei Yilong had been explaining the construction progress to Fang Chenyi. After pulling open the door and getting out, Wei Yilong pointed toward the Sun Tower construction site nearby and said,
"Boss, this thing is a real pain! Not only is it a pain, but the standards are also incredibly strict. You have no idea. Professor Wu has been watching over there ever since the pouring started a few days ago. And hey, I’ll give it to him, Professor Wu is seriously responsible. He even goes to personally tap and inspect the welds on every single steel bar."
Fang Chenyi listened, and although he knew that a skyscraper of this height required such stringent standards, and that Professor Wu wanted to make a name for himself worldwide, he couldn’t help but feel moved. After all, Professor Wu was already so old, yet he was putting so much effort into Fang Chenyi’s project.
He waved his hand. "Let’s go, Yilong. We’ll go take a look."
With that, he led the way toward the construction site.
Seeing this, Wei Yilong, who was behind him, quickly called out,
"Uh, Boss, you’re just going to walk over there? It’s still a long way!"
After saying that, the guy hopped back into the dump truck. Hearing this, Fang Chenyi also turned around and climbed back into the vehicle.
It was just as Wei Yilong had said. It looked close, but it was actually quite far to walk. It took them about five minutes in the dump truck to finally reach where Professor Wu was.
"Hurry, hurry, the concrete flow can’t stop! Not even for a second! Faster! The hardening agent! Get the hardening agent ready! This batch will be used up in three minutes!"
The noise from the various machines on site was deafening, but as soon as Fang Chenyi jumped out of the truck, he heard Professor Wu’s shouting.
His eyes searched through the crowd of machines and people—numerous, yet perfectly orderly—and finally found Professor Wu deep inside, covered head to toe in dust and dirt.
Looking at Professor Wu’s mud-caked figure, Fang Chenyi found it impossible to associate him with the image of a university professor...
He reached for his new phone, aimed it at the old professor’s silhouette, and with a CLICK, snapped a photo—a photo that would go down in history!
