Chapter 373: Chapter 373 - 349: The Relentless Search
Although Fang Chenyi had been eating this roast camel for days, the creature was so enormous that he had only managed to finish one of its legs.
The gorilla had been by the edge of the pool, pestering its master to catch a few more fish. But when the giant roast camel suddenly appeared, its big eyes immediately lit up.
It forgot all about the pool and the fish, instead charging straight for the roast camel.
In truth, the gorilla had seen the camel before. In fact, if not for its existence, he might never have revealed himself to Fang Chenyi.
On this island, the big fella was king, and patrolling his territory had become his favorite pastime.
He hadn’t paid much mind to the gunshots that day, mistaking them for thunder. But as time passed, he eventually wandered over to this side of the island.
And on that very day, he happened to see Fang Chenyi putting away the roast camel after he finished eating.
Although the tempting aroma made his mouth water, an instinctual fear of this unknown creature kept the gorilla from revealing itself. Instead, it chose to hide nearby.
Only after Fang Chenyi left did it cautiously run to the spot where he had been.
There, it found some bones Fang Chenyi had left behind. After picking one up and gnawing on it, the craving became completely uncontrollable.
It waited for two whole days until Fang Chenyi finally brought out the giant camel again, which led to their first encounter.
As the gorilla ran up, ready to grab a piece, Fang Chenyi lightly tapped its massive hand with the small branch he was holding.
"Wait, wait. Sit there and be good."
After speaking, he ignored the gorilla’s aggrieved expression. His dagger flashed, and in an instant, he had carved off an entire roast camel thigh.
He then carved off a palm-sized piece for himself, placing it in his stainless steel bowl. Only then did he hand the rest of the leg to the gorilla.
The gorilla was long past patience. It snatched the camel leg from Fang Chenyi, opened its massive maw, and took a huge bite. Instantly, grease and juices dripped everywhere as it devoured the meat with incredible gusto.
Fang Chenyi, meanwhile, first put the rest of the camel back into the woven sack before picking up the chunk of meat in his bowl and starting to eat.
He had to admit, perhaps influenced by the big fella’s ravenous display, Fang Chenyi found that the roast camel meat, which he’d been eating for days, somehow tasted even better than before.
By the time the big fella had devoured the entire camel leg, Fang Chenyi had also finished his own large chunk of meat.
BURP~
Just as Fang Chenyi was putting his stainless steel bowl back into the woven sack, a massive belch echoed, leaving him momentarily speechless.
’This guy... He’s definitely full.’
Man and beast, their bellies full, lay down beside the bonfire. Fang Chenyi gazed at the star-filled sky, lost in thought, while the gorilla was already fast asleep and snoring loudly.
"Heh, you really know how to eat and sleep, don’t you? *Sigh*... It’s already been a week. When are they going to find me?"
After waiting for a week, Fang Chenyi seemed to understand that his location was simply too remote.
’And there’s another possibility... they might have already given up looking for me.’
...
Over a thousand nautical miles from Fang Chenyi’s island, a huge cruise ship cut through the water, its searchlights sweeping in one direction.
Meanwhile, in the sky above, ten helicopters were flying in low-altitude formations.
On the water below, dozens of speedboats fanned out, searching in every direction.
On the cruise ship’s bridge, a man wearing a white robe and a white headscarf was standing by the window, sighing.
Suddenly, the door opened. Qi Xiaotian, dressed in camouflage, walked in, his steps heavy with exhaustion.
The man at the window turned to look at Qi Xiaotian, asking in slightly halting Mandarin:
"Qi, any news of the Boss?"
This man was none other than Demo Did, who had rushed here upon hearing the news.
During these seven days, the Ocean Harmony had made one trip to Dubai Port to resupply.
Upon learning of Fang Chenyi’s disappearance, Demo Did had acted without a moment’s hesitation, immediately procuring ten helicopters and dozens of speedboats.
He had even boarded the Ocean Harmony himself.
One had to admit, the man was fiercely loyal.
Demo Did was overcome with guilt. If he hadn’t called the Boss over, none of this would have happened.
Hearing Demo Did’s question, Qi Xiaotian simply shook his head and replied:
"Not yet. We’ve searched over two thousand nautical miles from where the incident occurred. Still no clues..."
For the past seven days, Qi Xiaotian had been getting three hours of sleep a day at most, all of it snatched on search boats or helicopters.
He wasn’t the only one; Liu Yishou was in the same state. If he wasn’t needed to command the Ocean Harmony, he would have personally joined the search long ago.
Though he couldn’t leave the Ocean Harmony, Liu Yishou was constantly monitoring the ship’s various radar systems.
As for Fang Jinjin, she hadn’t had a single good night’s sleep. She spent every waking moment waiting here for news.
She had grown numb to Qi Xiaotian’s words. For seven days, seven whole days, the answer had been the same.
RING, RING, RING.
Just as a heavy silence fell over the room, Demo Did’s phone suddenly rang.
Demo Did frowned, reached for his phone, and his eyes narrowed slightly as he saw the caller ID.
"Have you found them all? ... Good. Bring them all to me. Now. Don’t let them die. Not a single one!"
He hung up the phone and looked at Qi Xiaotian and the others, his words coming through clenched teeth:
"They’ve caught the ones who planted the bombs on the plane. They’ll probably be delivered by noon tomorrow! Damn bastards, I’m going to use them for shark bait!"
Hearing Demo Did’s words, a bloodthirsty glint flashed in Qi Xiaotian’s eyes. He made a silent vow. ’If they can’t find Brother Fang, I’ll make damn sure those people don’t leave this world peacefully.’
And so time passed—with Fang Chenyi gazing at the stars, and with Qi Xiaotian and the three hundred-plus personnel aboard the Ocean Harmony searching relentlessly.
Early the next morning, Fang Chenyi was poked awake by the gorilla.
The first thing he saw upon opening his eyes was a pair of massive, upturned nostrils.
The sight gave Fang Chenyi such a fright that he jolted upright in a single motion.
Seeing that its master was awake, the gorilla opposite him broke into a wide grin.
