Soon, the aroma of roasted fish began to waft through the air.

The gorilla that had been hiding by the grass, holding a fluffy blade in its mouth and blowing on it, suddenly scrambled up from the ground. Its two huge, upturned nostrils twitched a couple of times before its gaze finally fell on the large fish roasting over the fire.

It saw its master constantly turning the large fish, occasionally sprinkling some ’dirt’ on it.

The large fish, however, was emitting an especially fragrant aroma, and the creature couldn’t stop itself from drooling.

It cautiously and quietly crept forward a little. Seeing that the fire wasn’t harming it, the gorilla grew a little bolder.

It propped itself up with its arms and moved another step forward.

OOH OOH~

It let out two calls and immediately ran to hide behind Fang Chenyi.

Amused by its antics, Fang Chenyi pointed exasperatedly at a nearby dead tree, gesturing for it to go get more dry branches.

The gorilla was a hard worker. Once it got the command, it immediately ran off to break branches.

As he roasted the fish, Fang Chenyi continuously scored it with a small knife and evenly sprinkled it with salt from his woven bag.

Eventually, the large fish was cooked through.

He carefully removed the fish from the fire and beckoned to the drooling gorilla. Then he took out a stainless steel bowl, cut off a large piece of fish, and handed the stick with the rest of the roasted fish to the gorilla.

The huge creature saw this, reached out to take the roasted fish, and without a second thought, opened its mouth to take a bite.

Seeing this, Fang Chenyi quickly shouted a warning that it was hot. But the gorilla was already overwhelmed by its craving, and since this was its first time eating cooked food, it had no idea what ’hot’ even meant.

It opened its massive mouth wide and chomped down on the fish. A split second later, it let out a pained AWOO!

With that one bite, the gorilla was instantly scalded and let out a howl.

However, just when Fang Chenyi thought the gorilla would surely toss the roasted fish aside, it surprisingly did no such thing.

After being burned, it didn’t rush to take another bite. Instead, it turned its gaze to Fang Chenyi.

Seeing this, Fang Chenyi couldn’t help but marvel. ’This one is so much smarter than that big shark. It must want to see how I eat it.’

And so, under the gorilla’s watchful gaze, Fang Chenyi picked up a piece of the roasted fish, brought it to his lips, and blew on it. After a few puffs to cool it down, he popped it into his mouth and chewed with great satisfaction.

’You know, for being seasoned with just salt, this fish is unbelievably delicious.’

For a moment, Fang Chenyi’s mouth was filled with the rich, savory flavor.

The gorilla, which had been watching Fang Chenyi intently, copied his actions. It brought the fish up close, tore off a chunk with one hand, and held it to its mouth, pursing its lips and blowing noisily.

It seemed to have trouble controlling its breath; a few times, it blew so hard that the piece of fish flew right out of its hand and onto the ground.

The creature didn’t seem to mind, though. After a few more puffs, it opened its mouth wide and stuffed the palm-sized piece of fish inside, chewing with loud SMACKS.

Fang Chenyi nearly choked just watching, so he quickly reminded the gorilla not to eat the bones.

But the gorilla was a hardy creature with formidable teeth. It didn’t care one bit about any bones. Never mind the large ones; even the small ones were ground to dust by its massive molars.

The moment the roasted fish entered its mouth, its big eyes lit up. It grabbed the fish with both hands and, with a single sharp tug, tore it into two large halves.

It blew on them a couple of times and stuffed them into its mouth.

In no time at all, the gorilla had devoured the entire roasted fish.

Staring at its now empty hands, the gorilla immediately turned its gaze to the stainless steel bowl in front of Fang Chenyi.

Although it stared intently, the creature didn’t reach out to grab it. Instead, it just watched with a pitiful expression.

He had been so focused on watching the gorilla eat that Fang Chenyi himself hadn’t had a second bite after his first one.

But seeing the gorilla’s pitiful little expression, he didn’t have the heart to eat anymore. Shaking his head with a resigned sigh, he handed the large piece of fish in his bowl to the gorilla.

At the sight of this, the gorilla’s huge mouth split into a wide grin.

Seeing the roasted fish that Fang Chenyi handed over, it took it without a second thought.

Then, as Fang Chenyi watched, the gorilla used both hands to tear the large piece of fish in half once more.

Fang Chenyi shook his head helplessly at the sight. ’This gorilla has a massive appetite. It could probably devour a piece this big in two bites.’

But just as Fang Chenyi was shaking his head in amazement, he noticed the gorilla hadn’t stuffed the two pieces of fish into its mouth. Instead, it was examining them.

It looked first at the piece in its right hand, then at the one in its left.

After a moment’s hesitation, the great beast seemed to come to a decision. It reached out and offered the larger of the two pieces to Fang Chenyi.

It let out two OOH OOH sounds as well.

Stunned, Fang Chenyi looked at the fish being offered to him, then pointed to his own nose.

"Is this for me?"

The huge creature nodded, then gently placed the piece of fish in Fang Chenyi’s lap.

Looking at the fish in his lap, Fang Chenyi was honestly very touched. For the gorilla to give him the larger piece showed just how high his status was in its eyes.

’But as touched as I am, I can’t eat something this creature has handled. I have a lot of things in my woven bag, but medicine isn’t one of them.’

While Fang Chenyi was lost in thought, the gorilla had already stuffed its own piece of fish into its mouth. Chewing, it pointed at the fish in Fang Chenyi’s lap and hooted twice, as if to say, ’Go on, eat!’

Hearing its call, Fang Chenyi smiled and handed the fish back to the gorilla, saying:

"Alright, you can have it all. I’m not hungry yet anyway."

When the gorilla saw that Fang Chenyi wasn’t eating, it stopped hesitating. It took the piece of fish, stuffed it into its mouth, and began chewing with loud SMACKS.

After it finished eating, it smacked its lips, looked at Fang Chenyi, then at the pool, and started hooting again.

Clearly, the creature wasn’t full yet and wanted more roasted fish.

But because of that spear strike from earlier, the fish had all fled deep underwater. And now, in the dead of night, catching another one wouldn’t be easy.

Shaking his head with a sigh, Fang Chenyi pulled out his woven bag, reached inside, and in an instant, an entire, enormous roasted camel appeared before him and the gorilla.
