Chapter 371: Chapter 371 - 347: The Real Strongman
He glanced at the dead fish. By his estimation, it was at least ten meters from the shore.
Not knowing what was in the water, Fang Chenyi didn’t dare go in rashly. So, he turned to the gorilla, who was anxiously thumping its chest while staring at the fish, and said:
"Big Guy, go find a long stick!"
Hearing this, the gorilla’s face lit up with excitement. It broke into a grin that stretched from ear to ear and, without a moment’s hesitation, turned and plunged into the woods behind them.
A moment later, it came running back, now holding a sapling as thick as a bowl.
Fang Chenyi stared in shock at the roots still caked with dirt at its base. The gorilla had clearly ripped it straight out of the ground. ’This guy’s strength is no joke!’
Even after taking the super-soldier serum, Fang Chenyi was definitely not as strong as this beast.
What was most concerning was that it looked like the gorilla hadn’t even used its full strength.
Watching the comical sight of the gorilla standing on the bank, holding the bowl-thick sapling and clumsily swiping at the fish in the water, Fang Chenyi couldn’t help but shake his head with a smile.
SPLAT.
After the gorilla’s tireless efforts, the large fish with half its head missing was finally dragged ashore. The gorilla casually tossed the small tree aside.
The next moment, Fang Chenyi watched, dumbfounded, as the gorilla scooped up the large fish and took a huge bite out of it while running toward him.
CRUNCH.
The sight sent a cringeworthy shiver down Fang Chenyi’s spine, and his own teeth ached in sympathy. ’Good grief, that’s gotta be prickly as hell...’
OOH OOH~
Arriving in front of Fang Chenyi, the gorilla shoved the half-eaten fish into his arms. It let out two excited cries, "ooh ooh," while chewing on the spiny fish flesh, a look of pure excitement on its face.
It was clearly gesturing for Fang Chenyi to eat, too.
Caught completely off guard, the fish was thrust into his arms. His suit, worth hundreds of thousands, was already torn to shreds by branches, but the sudden reek of fish still made Fang Chenyi sigh in resignation.
Taking the large fish, Fang Chenyi carried it to the riverbank.
Seeing that Fang Chenyi wasn’t eating, the gorilla let out a couple of dissatisfied "ooh oohs," as if asking him why.
"Alright, alright, stop shouting. Go into the woods and get some dry branches and dead leaves. I’ll roast it for you in a bit."
After speaking, without bothering to see if the gorilla understood, he turned and walked toward the edge of the water.
At the river’s edge, he drew his paratrooper knife. He’d never cleaned a fish before, but he’d seen it done.
Looking at the fish’s pathetic state—half its head shot off by a bullet, then gnawed on by the gorilla—Fang Chenyi simply sliced the whole thing off with his knife.
’Who knows how many germs are in that thing’s mouth...’
The gorilla stood beside Fang Chenyi, letting out anxious "ooh oohs" as it watched its master cut off a large chunk of the fish and throw it back into the water.
’That was hard to get! I’ve only ever eaten a big fish that jumped out of the water once, back when I was little. Later, when I tried to go in and catch them, I nearly drowned. That’s why I don’t dare go near the water.’
Now, the master had thrown away the big fish he had worked so hard to get. How could he not be frantic?
Fang Chenyi glanced back at the gorilla and waved his hand, exasperated. "Go on, go on, hurry up and get some dry branches! They have to be dry, not fresh ones. Look, like this."
As he spoke, Fang Chenyi reached out, picked up a dry branch from the water’s edge, and tossed it to the gorilla. The creature caught it, scratched its head, let out a couple of "ooh oohs," and turned to run into the woods.
Seeing it leave, Fang Chenyi shook his head with a smile and turned back to cleaning the large fish. It was a big one, and it took him a good ten minutes to finish.
When he looked up again, there was no sign of the gorilla. He had no idea where it had run off to find branches.
Shaking his head in resignation, he found a large, flat rock in an open area. After placing the cleaned fish on the rock, he began to clear away the surrounding weeds.
This was to avoid accidentally setting the place on fire later.
Just as Fang Chenyi was clearing the weeds, a rustling sound suddenly came from the woods. This immediately put him on high alert.
He stopped what he was doing, slung the assault rifle off his back, and flipped off the safety.
As the sound grew closer, a dark figure emerged from the night, moving with heavy, deliberate steps in the moonlight.
Seeing the figure, Fang Chenyi switched the safety back on and shouldered his rifle.
He called out to the shadow, a hint of exasperation in his voice:
"Big Guy, what have you been doing? I told you to get some firewood. Where on earth did you go?"
It was the gorilla. As Fang Chenyi’s words faded, the creature let out a couple of "ooh oohs" and quickened its pace. The rustling sound sped up along with it.
When it got closer, Fang Chenyi was stunned to see that the gorilla was dragging a dead tree as thick as a man could wrap his arms around!
He shone his powerful flashlight over and saw, to his astonishment, that the tree was at least ten meters long.
"Holy crap! I told you to get some branches, not drag back an entire tree!"
This gorilla once again shattered Fang Chenyi’s understanding of it.
OOH OOH!
After dragging the massive tree in front of Fang Chenyi, the gorilla plopped down on the ground and began panting heavily, clearly exhausted. But even while gasping for breath, it had a look on its face that was begging for praise, which made Fang Chenyi want to laugh.
He shook his head helplessly. ’Well, I did ask for it...’
"Heh, you really are a strong one, aren’t you? Good job. I’ll give you extra roasted fish later!"
As if it understood Fang Chenyi was praising it, the gorilla broke into another wide grin. Not only that, but it also raised an arm and flexed its massive bicep for him.
Seeing this silly display, Fang Chenyi couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
With the huge tree, Fang Chenyi quickly got a large bonfire going.
But the moment the bonfire roared to life, the gorilla got scared and scrambled to the edge of the clearing, refusing to come any closer no matter what.
Fang Chenyi tried coaxing and reassuring it, and even dangled the large fish as bait, before the creature would cautiously inch a little closer.
Giving up, Fang Chenyi ignored it and started skewering the large fish on a big branch to roast over the fire.
