Chapter 1524: Chapter 1524: Are you messing around?
Xiao Mu went forward to pick up the painting again and looked carefully at it.
But it wasn’t as if there was anything special about this painting.
It was just a painting of the entrance and was supposed to lead them down an eternal hall without an end. So it wasn’t as if there was much thought that was put into this painting.
Even if Xiao Mu looked carefully at this painting, it wasn’t as if it was going to find anything off with it.
So in the end, it seemed like Xiao Mu lost interest in the painting of the entrance and turned its attention to the pavilion in front of them.
This time, the doors were opened properly and they were able to see the hall in front of them instead of just an empty hallway. This hall was a place that was made for painting pictures just like the other hall had been made to write poetry.
It was a place that was filled with artistic influence, a place that was clear of any kind of distraction and was made to provide a silent space for creativity.
It really was the best place to paint if one was doing that.
With an environment like this prepared, it wasn’t hard to guess what the test was in this place.
Though before stepping in, the other two did look at Lin Fan as if they were waiting for him to say something first. They were waiting for him to confirm if the space in front of them was the truth or not.
After all, they had already been fooled by the paintings of this place twice.
At this point, they chose to rely on Lin Fan since he had already shown that he was able to see through the illusions created by those paintings.
With a faint smile, Lin Fan gave a simple nod to show that it was safe before stepping forward as well.
When the three of them stepped into the hall, they were surprised by the door that suddenly slammed closed behind them. It wasn’t something that they had been expecting since it didn’t happen with any of the other pavilions.
So at the same time, they raised their guards just in case there was some kind of trap that they had triggered.
But once again, Lin Fan shook his head to show that he couldn’t see any changes around them. Though that didn’t necessarily mean that there were no changes, there might have been something that he just didn’t see.
After all, there really was no telling when his guidance system would trigger.
However, it wasn’t as if there was a need for them to confirm anything.
Instead, there was a painting that appeared in front of them.
This wasn’t a real painting, but rather a rough outline of what the painting was supposed to be.
That was because this was the test.
Instead of a finished painting this time, it was a test of one’s comprehension towards painting techniques by offering an unfinished painting for the one taking the test to finish.
Since that was the case, both Ye Qing Huan and Xiao Mu turned to Lin Fan as if they were waiting for him to step forward.
A bitter feeling appeared in Lin Fan’s heart when he saw them looking at him like this, but there was nothing that he could do since he had already demonstrated his abilities. Which was why he had no choice but to step forward and stand in front of the unfinished painting.
There was no need for him to take out the ink brush as there was ink and a brush provided to him. Just a single glance was enough to tell that these two items were of high quality.
It seemed like whoever created this test didn’t hold back at all when it came to providing the tools.
It seemed like they simply wanted to give the opportunity to create the best painting possible.
Lin Fan wasn’t worried about this since he could already see the lines that the guidance system had prepared for him. As soon as the unfinished painting appeared, the system had already started working.
This was a case of the bare bones being there, so it was considered something that falls under the guidance system even if it wasn’t the full painting.
So without any hesitation, Lin Fan picked up the brush and dipped it in the ink before bringing it up towards the painting. But the moment that he made the first stroke, he couldn’t help knitting his brows.
Lin Fan wasn’t the only one that knitted his brows like this, Ye Qing Huan and Xiao Mu did the same thing when they saw this stroke.
They went even further as they looked at him as if they were saying, "Are you messing around right now?"
It wasn’t as if they were giving this look for no reason.
After all, the first stroke that Lin Fan made could only be described with the word ’sloppy’.
This definitely didn’t feel like he was taking this matter seriously, it was almost as if he didn’t know anything about painting...But that shouldn’t be possible or else he wouldn’t have been able to solve those paintings earlier.
Which was why the only thing that was possible was that Lin Fan wasn’t taking this seriously.
Technically that was correct since Lin Fan was just following the guidance of the system, but usually that would have been enough. This time it wasn’t since he didn’t have any of the special techniques that were needed.
Even if the system had clearly marked out what he was supposed to draw, it wasn’t as if he had the experience and technique to draw it. There was only so much that he could do with his physical body alone.
It was different from the poems where the content was the most important thing.
When it came to painting, every single part of the stroke was important and had to be done carefully. Especially when it comes to a high level piece of art like this.
Which was why Lin Fan had no choice but to exchange for a few things from the system.
He didn’t do this previously since he wasn’t certain if the system would even help him digest them, but this time he was certain. This time, the techniques were directly related to the guidance from the system.
After he exchanged for these things, he could see that the guidance that the system provided was completely different. This time, they used all of the technical terms that came with the techniques that he exchanged for.
But it wasn’t as if he was able to understand everything that quickly.
Which was why he just stood there in silence, as if he was standing in a daze. But in reality, he was digesting all of the painting techniques that he had exchanged for.
When he finally made his second stroke, it was completely different from the first one.
Gone was the sloppy feeling that it gave, rather this felt like the proper stroke of a painting master.
Both Ye Qing Huan and Xiao Mu looked at him with strange looks, as if they were wondering what had just changed about Lin Fan. But in the end, they weren’t able to figure out anything about what had changed with him.
In the end, they could only accept that the first stroke was nothing more than a warm up stroke and he had been rusty before this.
After all, it really felt like he changed into a completely different person.
In fact, it felt like he was still changing with each stroke. It felt like as he made these strokes, he was learning more and more about painting.
But if that was the case, how could he even be painting right now?
Lin Fan was actually learning more and more with each stroke that he made.
After all, this was the guidance of the system and it wasn’t something that was low grade. It was just like with the hammering technique, he was learning through the experience that the system guided him on.
It didn’t take long for Lin Fan finish the painting.
When he made that final stroke, even he couldn’t help feeling satisfied with the painting that he made.
Even though he wasn’t at the level where he was good enough to judge it properly, he still felt very satisfied and proud of this painting.
After he finished this painting, it didn’t seem like there was a reaction that came from it. It felt like there was just no life at all in this painting with the way that it remained silent like this.
But then it suddenly started to glow.
Seeing the glow coming from the painting, there was a bitter smile that appeared on Lin Fan’s face.
After all, there was one part of the painting that wasn’t glowing.
It was the part where he had made that first stroke before he had learned any painting techniques.
It was only natural that this part wasn’t recognized as part of the masterpiece that he created since it was subpar compared to the rest. At the very least, whoever was judging this painting was recognizing the work that the system had guided him on.
This glow became stronger and stronger until it started projecting the painting that Lin Fan created.
The scenery around them changed and it felt like they had been thrown into an entirely different world.
It was the same as the painting that had trapped them earlier.
