Chapter 1523: Chapter 1523: More culture
"The barrier has cleared, so why can’t we see anything?"
Lin Fan wasn’t the only one that couldn’t see anything, the others weren’t seeing anything either.
After Xiao Mu cleared the mist barrier in front of them, there was still nothing that appeared. But they were certain that the mist barrier had been cleared since they could see the mist moving aside in front of them.
Even so, it didn’t seem like there was anything that was revealed once the mist was out of the way.
It was as if the mist had been protecting something that wasn’t there.
"There has to be something here."
That was what all the signs pointed to, even if they weren’t able to see anything. But if they weren’t able to see it, then it really wasn’t as if there was anything that they could do to enter this place.
"For now, let’s just move forward and see if there’s anything that we can find."
Ye Qing Huan was the one that was the most calm out of all three of them.
While the other two were trying to figure out what was in front of them and how to break through it, she just calmly accepted that they weren’t able to see through this illusion and that they should just push ahead to see what they could find.
There was a moment of hesitation that came from both Lin Fan and Xiao Mu as they thought about what Ye Qing Huan said.
But in the end, the two of them recognized that she was right.
Instead of forcing themselves to try and figure out what was in front of them, it was better to see what kind of things would come at them and react.
It wasn’t as if forcing it would show them anything.
Which was why Lin Fan and Xiao Mu both went forward as if they were going to lead the way. Both of them seemed to want to go forward since they wanted to be the one that was hit with whatever was there.
After all, the two of them both had special powers that would let them see through things.
With a shake of her head and a sigh, Ye Qing Huan said, "Just do it together."
Which was why Lin Fan and Xiao Mu moved forward side by side. Both of them carefully observed the area around them as they tried to find something that would give them a clue.
But no matter how they looked, they weren’t able to find anything. At the same time, it even felt like there was something here obscuring them from finding anything.
After all, it didn’t seem like they were able to find anything even after walking forward for a while now.
Logically speaking, they should have already encountered something by moving forward like this. It was just that there was something that seemed to be keeping them trapped here.
"You haven’t spotted anything at all?" Lin Fan asked Xiao Mu all of a sudden.
Xiao Mu didn’t answer at first as it looked around one more time. But after this, it shook its head to show that it couldn’t see anything.
Both Lin Fan and Xiao Mu found this strange.
No matter how one looked at it, there should be some kind of clue in this place that would allow them to break through. After all, what was keeping them trapped here was most likely some kind of test for them.
It would be similar to the words that had been floating in front of the last pavilion.
Only this time there were no signs of it at all.
As Lin Fan was about to say something else, he suddenly stopped when he heard what his system said to him.
"Eh, why is there more guidance?" Lin Fan questioned the system, but it didn’t respond as it started showing him what it was guiding him on.
When this guidance appeared, there was a bitter feeling that filled Lin Fan.
After all, the guidance that the system was giving him was actually on the flaws of this thing that was keeping them trapped. It seemed like the system didn’t care at all about the nature of this thing and was only interested in telling him the flaws.
Of course, that was a good thing since these flaws would enable him to break out of this place.
It was just that Lin Fan didn’t expect the true nature of this place to be...
With a sigh, Lin Fan pulled out the ink brush that he received and wrote a few words in the air. When he did, those words suddenly flew forward and then seemed to attach themselves to the air as they just floated there.
But it didn’t take long for a reaction to appear from the scenery around them.
There were faint ripples at first, but then there were tears that appeared in the scenery until it was completely replaced. When the scenery was torn apart, the real image behind it was revealed.
There was the pavilion that they had been looking for along with this large courtyard that they had been walking around in.
The footprints under them were enough to show that they had been walking around in circles. Though that wasn’t the fault of Lin Fan’s group, it was because they had been led around by the painting that had been placed in this courtyard.
It was the true identity of the array that had kept them trapped this entire time.
The painting unraveled itself around them, creating this fake scenery that they couldn’t tell from the real scenery. So as they walked along the path that had been created by the painting, they didn’t know where they were actually going.
Which was why they were just moving around in the same spot.
After breaking through the painting that had kept them trapped, the pavilion opened on its own as if it was welcoming them.
But before they could go through, Xiao Mu went to the painting that had fallen to the ground.
What Lin Fan had done was hit the flaws of the painting which had disrupted the image that it created. But that didn’t mean that he had done anything that would harm the painting itself.
All he did was accentuate those flaws until the image released by the painting was thrown out of balance. Which in the end caused the painting to suddenly shut down as it couldn’t maintain the balance of the picture.
Even if it shut down, that didn’t mean that the painting itself was damaged.
Which was why Xiao Mu was able to examine it now.
"So after poetry, it’s painting. It seems like this Dao Sect really was filled with all kinds of culture." Lin Fan couldn’t help thinking to himself with a wry.
Though it wasn’t as if this was surprising since the four arts were a key part of cultivation as well. There were many cultivation techniques that were based on the arts and it was only natural that there would be such cultivation techniques as well.
It was just that no matter what kind of cultivation techniques were used, it didn’t seem to escape the guidance of the system.
Though the reason why the system had waited until the end to activate the guidance was something that Lin Fan found funny.
"The painting has been fully analyzed. The guidance system will be activated now."
It turned out that it was all because he hadn’t seen the entire painting. It was only when he saw the full painting by walking around in the illusion that it demonstrated that he was finally able to break through it.
But thinking about it, it did make sense.
Just like with the poems, unless it was recognized as a complete poem, the guidance system didn’t activate. So this time, it waited until he saw the complete painting before activating.
Even though Xiao Mu did what it could to analyze the painting, it didn’t seem like it was able to find anything special about it.
It was one thing to have information about the painting, it was a completely different thing to actually understand the painting. That was the difference that Xiao Mu had.
After all, what Xiao Mu had access to was the database that contained information about painting techniques. It didn’t have information about the experiences that a painter would pick up through these techniques.
So even if Xiao Mu could see the traces of these techniques, it wasn’t able to put it together.
Once Xiao Mu was done analyzing the painting, they started moving forward towards the entrance of the pavilion.
But before they could enter, Lin Fan suddenly stopped Ye Qing Huan and Xiao Mu.
He didn’t say anything as he took out the same ink brush as before and created a few more words in the air. With a flick of the ink brush, those words suddenly flew towards the entrance in front of them.
They stopped once they reached the entrance and floated there in the air for a bit.
Then all of a sudden, there were similar ripples that appeared in the air before tears also appeared.
After that, there was a painting that fell to the ground.
Lin Fan revealed a faint smile seeing this as he thought to himself, "So they double layered it."
This was a second painting that the guidance system had found for him.
Whoever had made this pavilion really liked to play around as they placed these two paintings to deter those that arrived from entering this place.
One was already enough to protect, two was just harassment.
