Chapter 2965: Chapter 2965. Look Elsewhere

After moving some distance, the group stood looking at the still recovering wound song Gil’s hands. They were all still stunned by the fact that his actions had caused there to be so much damage that it was so tough to properly heal.

It was a good sign seeing that Gil was able to move his fingers and he said the numbness faded in to a constant ache. The repercussions of chaotic mana on his body were going to last for a while even after full healing. He had to handle that himself.

"Gil can use chaotic mana now?" Midnight breaking their silence made everyone look at her then at Gil.

The look on Gil’s face was the very same as if someone asked if they wanted to jump in to the fire pit and dance on the hot coals.

"Absolutly not Midnight. And If you see me trying you should question my sanity." The exasperation was at least a good sign that he had let go of that feeling and was back to a more logical and present mindset.

"So, we learned that we can start to touch on more things than just the mana we know. We might have to hide this a lot more carefully." Remey didn’t look like she enjoyed knowing that chaotic mana could be controlled at the great harm of the one manipulating it.

If that could even be called manipulating chaotic mana in the first place.

"I think it is better to say that we found out that we can pull on fundamental laws that might be different from mana and more closely related to what foundational pieces make up everything beyond what we know. We might have played a little too much with what we can’t comprehend yet."

Walker carefully looked at Gil’s hand and knew that damage from the manas mixing and clashing had been severe. It didn’t bring him the same joy of discovery that other things did. This brought him a deeper feeling of ache.

He felt that exploring this was the same as randomly throwing poisons and potions at someone hoping that a good outcome would appear but realistically it was just killing in a more terrible way. It was not a solution to their problems and not a solution or training method to help them.

"We can try to do something else, see if we can pull on the core of what makes us heroes or the feeling of balance that we have because of natural mana that we have understood and relied on to heal and help the world. It might be that Gil just pulled at something without enough understanding. But even if we shouldn’t pull on anything beyond our stations right now, we can use this situation to understand what is within us and how we are without any outside influence at all."

The way that Walker changed the light of what they had seen and what they might still achieve was nice. However, Su clearly looked unhappy to hear that he would wish to try and pull on some form of balance or other factors that might be just as dangerous once they began to do so.

This was uncharted territory beyond uncharted territory.

"This isn’t what we came here to work on Walker. Gil, you pushed too and you were shown the error in that. Right now, both of you need to remember that playing with laws or factors of literal existence is like trying to tame a rogue dragon. It can eat you. It can kill you. And it surely doesn’t have a heart you can sway because it gave that up without the support of others."

Her point was a bit brutal but it was real.

She didn’t want to see them being led around on a string by their curiosity. Especially when that string led them right in to the den of a monster ready to eat them.

Even more so, she didn’t want to push the envelope and attract whatever monsters or malevolent beings might be walking around out in the unknown of the outer elements alone where things could eat entire small elemental planes just as a snack.

"We need to worry more about it all once we are stronger." Gil gave a quick nod then he looked at Walker, "You can also be interested that I also enhanced my class a little. I have a quest that says to explore what it means to be chaotic, what it means to have balance, and what it means to have more than both. I don’t have requirements because they are in garbled language so I am pretty sure that is the will of existence telling me I can’t even start to achieve any advancement."

They had all heard Gil speaking about feeling like he was on the edge of advancing something. Of understanding something.

So it was quite a change to hear him say that he was very far away.

"Is this because you managed to look where you shouldn’t and you might have tried to skip some steps?" Walker felt this was the best reason that Gil could change perspective and not look like he was feeling in the same way as before. It would make sense to him if that was the case at least.

"I would say so. It feels like I was reading the start of a story then looked too far ahead and now the next few Chapters are spoiled and I just don’t really know how or why. Like I need to backtrack and start to understand it properly because if I rush ahead now I will just end up ruining it all."

They all could understand to some degree. While it might be a much stronger feeling for Gil, the others knew that if someone told you the end of a book before you began to read it then it would become very tough to read the start of the book.

But that didn’t mean one could not read the start of the book. They just needed to take more care while they read it and grasped the meaning of the plot. It would take more time and need more focus, but achieving the entire book would not be impossible.

"I sort of feel like I am trying to climb a mountain now. The path is there but can I climb enough? I need to find the next place to rest and that is my challenge." Seeing his inspired eyes, Midnight leaped about looking for anything she could chase down to help, but looking at the distant elemental planes, she felt like she didn’t have the answer to help and just had to stand about waiting to explore more.

Not the worst thing but slightly disappointing since she wanted to help now and not later.

"Walker, you remember when you first used that lightning sword style? How you moved faster and faster but after you had to adjust a bit more? That’s probably the best way to describe what I can still comprehend from grasping that arrow of chaotic mana. I tried to control it but instead it was making my body and mind change speeds and effects and if i had kept it up i would have ended up worse off."

The relation was a bit different but Walker understood Gil tried to find something similar as best as he could because Walker would be curious.

"I think I understand. That skill worked with me because I had the ability and if I had not adjusted to it then there would have been damage to my body as a whole because it was a mix of manas and form that drew lightning in to me. You started to draw the chaotic mana in to you the same way you would making an arcane arrow temporarily. But the results were full of repercussions and even adapting to fit that change caused you damage since it’s not a simple change."

He felt more relieved that he could use this thought process to stifle his curiosity. It let him look at the nearby water and light elemental planes seemingly balancing in their spots near one another.

"We can go study those first. It might be easier to see what is within them. There are barriers around them but they are clear and seem like they are that way so they can be looked inside."

He knew that some of the beings here left the elemental planes to develop. If they could easily see a barrier around them then they would not touch or harm them, but that did not mean they could not look within and understand a bit better what was there and how they developed.

That was exactly what they needed to learn too.

"Let’s go look!" Midnight was more than happy to have a goal now. She was very curious too.
