Chapter 2963: Chapter 2963. Training Time
The thinning dark mana was an interesting change. Walker was carefully making mental notes of how the dark mana thinned and how he could sense that other manas had begun to clash with it.
This reaction was how the manas out in the outer elemental planes naturally moved, if that could be called natural at all since there was nothing keeping a proper order.
However, he was glad that they were not encountering any chaotic mana or any mana storms of any form. It was easier this way since he could expand his mana senses and keep in mind what he was searching for.
Yet, Gil was actively moving arrows around inside his spatial quiver and checking to see if any were having a negative effect while being in an area with such low mana.
So far, he has made it clear that he could not use several arrows that required ambient mana more than they used the mana within.
This was due to the fact that the mana used to draw in other manas would not be able to draw them in. It also was showing that the mana within those specific arrows was being drawn out due to the imbalances within the arrow and outside of the arrow. The mana wasn’t sealed like it would be for other arrows.
"If you want to play with arrows you could have stayed home. There isn’t anything for you to shoot them at here." Remey grumbled since she also knew that if certain potions were exposed to the environment here that they would not have much effect. Only a few select potions could be used to do what they normally would.
"Just play with your potions at home too then. Miss, all of my explosive potions won’t work right now because they aren’t in the right place." The two bickered before Walker spotted a few formations of what appeared to be stone nearby. He appraised them since it was better than listening to the two argue while in this thinned out mana area.
’Empty shale
This is a form of stone that used to be part of an earth elemental plane developing within the chaotic mana environment around it. Due to different events, the earth elemental plane broke down and the mana escaped leaving the denser core to degrade and float away without much mana left within.
Due to this the form changed internally leaving it almost entirely devoid of mana but still having a solid form of shale rock. As it is now changed, it can be used to craft materials that may have an adverse reaction to earth mana and even take on the effects of the added manas.
While valuable in certain elemental planes, it is considered garbage within the earth elemental plane since it lacks the purer earth mana...’
Walker quickly stored it away and was glad to find a good material without any cost. He was also glad that they might be able to learn a bit more about what might cause different materials to come in to existence.
If they could replicate the environment within the world then they may be able to produce some better materials that will better suit what crafters need. Especially if they wished to develop armors or materials that can have more unique rune formations carved on them.
"Brother! There are fruits here too!"
The outburst from Midnight came from a few plants growing out of another nearby piece of empty shale. Walker appraised them as well and was somewhat worried about what he saw.
’Shifting olive tree
This is a sprout of a shifting olive tree. It is a unique spatial affinity plant that will anchor on or around important materials or elemental planes. It only moves around them based on the mana that they can potentially hold and the value of the materials that will be made out of them.
While it is unknown how it is able to move through space and anchor its roots in such places, it is believed to have a slight time mana affinity as well causing it to be able to innately sense the best places for growth over time. It may also be found to leave seeds from its branches whenever something like a powerful monster, member of intelligent life, or object moves near it.
While they do not have any innate benefits when eaten, there are several monsters and beings with spatial affinity that will seek them out due to the nutritional value of the olives it grows all year round as long as it is able to exist in a place where there is a dense enough effect on the spatial manas present...’
More information was about the life cycle of the plant and how the gray and black colorations on its bark and leaves cause people to believe it is a dark affinity herb of sorts.
However, he was more interested in the fact that the plant was not anchored to a specific place and would shift through space. It wasn’t sentient, but it grew where it could grow the best and that was that.
"There is already something interesting here and we haven’t even really gotten out in to the unknown again." Walker felt that the idea that this tree had some time mana within it made perfect sense. How else would he happen upon it and find the desire to store it away within his multi dimensional storage space? It wasn’t crazy to think that it had shifted through space ion the instinct that an ideal garden within a storage space was waiting for it too.
As if to prove this, Walker reached out a hand and felt the olive tree move with his will easily. More easily than storing anything else would be. Midnight just turned and looked at him waiting for him to hand over something to snack on.
Since it wasn’t harmful, he gave her an olive and watched as she scrunched her face at the slightly bitter and sour taste of an unripe olive. He just laughed a bit before turning his eyes toward the emptiness and letting his mana senses take over for him.
He could feel water mana and light mana in the distance. Something he could chase down. But realistically, this was the best place to isolate themselves from mana and test the theory that Gil had.
Gil seemed to be on the same page with Walker on this and it even caused Remey to slow down since she had caught on to Gil giving up on their little argument for entertainment’s sake. Su on the other hand just sighed since she knew that the two of them wouldn’t actually give up their ideas.
With a single movement, Walker started to halt the mana around. He found it extremely easy since the manas were so thin and they did not flow in a normal method like in the world or the elemental planes. It actually felt like it was simpler since the manas themselves were being pushed back and around him and the others like they were deterred more naturally by his manipulation.
Like they tried to bond a bit but didn’t have the desire to remain trapped and would rather keep flowing chaotically away from them. An odd idea, but one that made sense since no mana properly bound anything here. It was all just chaos trying to from in a larger space without proper order to the same degree as the world.
Gil saw that Walker was more than ready to take this challenge and he let his arrows, bow, and rune sewn clothes be stored away. He was glad that he had normal clothing under everything too, but that was just being smart since he never knew what might happen. Sometimes items that didn’t need mana running through them were better as a whole.
"Just moving the mana from around us already makes things feel different. Like when you are out in the fog, you would feel the water on your skin but not see it too well. But here, it’s like that but in the reverse, like the air suddenly went dry." Gil felt this and so did the others around them, but Su and Remey stepped away and felt it return since that would be the better position to protect themselves and others in.
Midnight looked around and seemed unhappy to not feel the mana on her body. She moved away and was more comfortable where she stood now. But she also carefully watched as Gil did as he had told everyone he wanted.
He was going to try and draw mana to make a magical arrow and fire it. But he wasn’t going to fire it or anything like that. Instead, he would just try to make it temporarily. It was just a question of if it could actually be done.
