Chapter 2959: Chapter 2959. Walking Together
The two walked in silence for a while. Remey had been stuck in her own head as she had met with Rise recently while Ignus was busy.
She had simply made a few comments about her fighting with Ignus and the differences in dragon culture and human cultures. Remey had never really known much in this respect but every time she had the chance she learned more.
Walker waited for Remey to speak up and eventually she started to explain what she had spoken about and why she was looking for Walker’s input. Not to mention the fact that she wanted to get out and explore some. Change her surroundings even more than just trying something around Genesis.
"Rise said that a dragon could hold on to their eggs for years. That they will sleep more, eat more, and hold up in a den or something to make their nest. She also said that they might go out to hunt opponents with specific mana affinities like them and grow much weaker around the time that they have their children. I can’t do any of that. I can’t raise a kid of my own or start a family weak and not ready!"
"So what you’re telling me, is that Rise told you all about how dragons start families and what they do and you took it as the way you should do it? I thought you had more brains in your head than that."
Remey stopped in place entirely. Her jaw dropped while looking at Walker who she had expected to be a lot nicer about all of this. She didn’t think for a single second that he would respond so bluntly.
"Aren’t you going to keep walking with me? We have to see if the others can head along with us if we are going anywhere. I never said that I would say no to bringing you out away from your worries, I am your family and friend you know... but, you probably should just focus on what you want. You aren’t a simple dragon or simple human. You literally bonded with Ignus, fused your soul and body, took on spirit dragon traits and kept your human body. So, just be the alchemical brawler you naturally are and see where it goes."
He hummed a little to himself before adding, "we will have long lives. Who says we will need to rush things. Just because Alma and Gil are making their moves and I might be doing what I need with Alice, doesn’t mean you are forced to move too. Onyx and Aurora are still dancing around the idea that they like one another despite spending a ton of time together."
Walker shrugged and felt like he had more answers for these things than he would have had in the past. It was incredibly odd. Normally he felt like it would have been awkward or he wouldn’t have known what to say. Then again, he had spent a lot of time with people that were wiser than him because of their years of experience.
If anything was a fact, he learned from them as best as he could while also showing who he was as a person. Sometimes he just had to learn a lesson a little bit harder than others did since he became a little too focused on others.
"You are kinda infuriating. I might have to punch you a few times." Walker jumped forward to dodge a quick strike as Remey gained her wits a little more. But the smirk on the side of her face slowly changing to a bit of a smile made it clear that she was somewhat happier.
Not having someone tell her about what should happen and how things should go was better. She liked that Walker would go along with her while also giving her his own advice. It gave her time to think things through without needing to rush through everything. Plus, the world was changing so much every single day that it felt better to have the chance to make changes to her version of how things should go at any point than just be told how things were and always had been.
"Hey Su, can you join us?" Remey crunched up her face in confusion as she realized that Walker was looking at a food stall, a little too large for the street, but also very clearly new and on the move toward the merchant street nearby.
With a small huff, Su moved from behind the cart with three skewers of grilled meat and fruit in her hand. "How am i supposed to surprise you when i see you both out walking when you run it." She managed to elbow Walker just a bit to show she wasn’t happy with his high mana sensing skills before she passed over a skewer to each of them.
"And how are we supposed to believe that you have been busy today when you are out chasing down new food stalls? Hmmmmm?" Remey teased back without hesitation before taking a bite and grinning at the flavor.
This was something that Su and Midnight had become addicted to. Their bonding was almost entirely over finding new food stalls and trying the new street foods invested or brought to Genesis. Yet, it appeared that Su took it more seriously in her free time even without Midnight as a partner in crime.
It was sort of funny to Walker, but he also enjoyed experimenting and playing with magic in his free time regardless of the fact that it often helped him out with his duties. So why should he judge?
"So what are you two going around for? Did Remey tell you about the defensive potions? I heard that they would be very good for bringing important class users to the elemental planes. A decent few guards are talking about using them so that they could explore them too. Plus train their resistances more easily while they are weaker."
Hearing that rumors about the potions were already circulating and how some people were making assumptions made Remey pretty happy. She had her own pride after all. "I think I could improve them more if I had the right mindset, but I believe there are some support options masters now that want to have a shot at it."
The way that Remey said it proved she was backing off the subject to let others pursue their own greatness, but Walker also knew that it was because of her own internal reasons. She had to get her mind straight before she threw herself in to alchemy yet again. Not to mention the recent experiments with perfumes also enhanced the support potion ideas in the alchemy community.
"It’s good that everyone has something to work toward. I just finished some training to improve my resistances again in the training grounds between each dragon territory. Once we have the dungeon stuff figured out there will be more space for other things." Now it was interesting that Su was focused on how the Genesis territory would change once they enhanced their knowledge on potentially crafting dungeons for these uses.
From what he could gather by her tone she had not changed her thinking. Instead she had begun to theorize what might be able to change and how they could improve it. She also clearly looked at Walker with the ideas she had in her mind too.
"If we can have plans for that time I won’t be unhappy." Walker also liked this but he was considering how he would enhance his body to potentially carry and properly craft dungeons. It was something he worried over due to the fact he did not realize the stress he put on his body before.
It might not have been harming him, but he could harm himself without realizing it. He had to spend time in the elemental planes and become more accustomed to the greater pressure he was under using these methods. He might even need to spend time looking for those with experience in doing so.
He knew now that there were origin race members with the ability to craft dungeons. Since that was the case, why not look for them? He had managed to meet some powerful individuals, but they treated him more like a child. And in essence, he might be one by comparison.
However, he wished to see what they could give him as opportunities or knowledge. He might be able to take greater leaps ahead if he was able to converse with them.
"Looks like he has some ideas. I take it you helped him with that?" Su looked at Remey smiling a bit.
"I want to head out again. Get my thoughts organized and work on some things too." Su nodded and the pair chatted a bit while Walker was in his own head.
