Chapter 2955: Chapter 2955. Poorly Kept Monsters
’Black bone lizard
This lizard is incredibly unique. It grows bone like structures on the outside of its body for defensive purposes. Those bones hold concentrated dark mana that deter everything from attacking it. This is because the mana within the bones is toxic to most that consume it without the ability to process concentrated rotting dark mana.
This is also why the harvested bones are so valuable, the process of scraping off layers of bone cause many who capture them to keep them as pets for profit...’
Walker was sighing in frustration as he read yet another appraisal about the abused monsters here.
The entire area underground of this mansion and many large properties housed monsters from the surroundings that had been captured and used for their materials. This black bone lizard should have been out in the wilderness or tamed by a tamer and treated properly. Yet, here it was injured and ill. Barely fed enough to live and used as a lasting resource to be sold when it wasn’t useful any longer.
Several other monsters lay barely clinging to life. While they were dangerous if they were in full health and in the wilderness, here they were just prey being treated like toys or display pieces. It hurt him even worse as he realized that many of the monsters here would not be able to survive if they were ever released since they had been raised in small cages from birth.
It was like a horrible zoo, only allowing the worst pain for these monsters to be left in. It was also why Walker felt less and less bad that the hollow eyed race would need to take generations to be allowed to potentially travel outside of their borders now.
The pitch scaled drains clearly were showing the signs of hatred for what they had been bound to do. One of them was resting next to a small family of shadow crows it had been forced to capture. Now that they had been robbed of their feathers, they would not be able to fly, the pain the dragon saw in it was the very same sense that every dragon had been disallowed from flying in their contract.
All to preserve the appearance of delicate dragon wings to show off to others.
"Mordant, I might need you to help me bring tamers here." Walker spoke loudly, letting his voice carry. He knew that Mordant was directing others of the pitch scaled drains, but because of the higher number of guards in this area, those dragons needed to be brought out but Mordant had ended up forced to walk down here.
Simply because many of the pitch scaled dragons saw this area as another prison that they had been forced to build for other monsters. Therefore, they felt attached and wished to free them as well.
"I know, several dragons refuse to leave. Others of other races feel the same. Quests have already appeared though." Walker knew this. He understood that this situation could cause the will of existence to issue quests to repair the harm done here. To rebuild what had been destroyed.
But, that was the key point Walker wanted to hear.
"We need the dark affinity tamers from Genesis. They can help teach the pitch scaled dragons and other races refusing to leave how to help. Then we can relocate them to a safer place that they can use to care for and help these monsters."
"They aren’t a threat to anyone now..." The secondary comment didn’t need to be spoken out loud, but saying it caused many of those refusing to leave in the area refusing to leave to pay attention.
Knowing that Walker saw this for what it was gave them enough desire to focus that he would be able to guide them. That he was not going to just leave them behind to be trapped in to contracts again with an imprisoned race that did harm.
Some still believed that they should destroy the hollow eyed race, but they trusted in the fact that Mordant had kept a promise to their race and that those four who came had made their own promises of salvation and hope for the future rather than violence and freedom while leaving them with a mess to clean up.
It meant much more.
"I will do that. I would prefer to remain here, they need someone like them... They need knowledge more now. A tamer class for dragons. It may just fit along with the echidna and the elven views of nature too." Mordant’s immediate connection to these racial cultural beliefs was perfect.
Walker could tell that using such knowledge would change the future of those here and also grow the dragon race asa whole.
The two of them saw a few of the formerly forced pitch scale dragon guards approaching too. They’d heard what he said and they wished to learn now, not later.
"I know some of you have quests appearing to take your newfound freedom from contracts and protect those here. Your quests could guide you to different classes. Guardians, proper guards, rehabilitation experts, healers, and even tamers. Start to follow those paths and ask for the knowledge to achieve your goals. I promise your people that you will have what we can provide as you join Genesis. You may not represent your entire race as a council member, but you can stand as a pillar of all people who face situations like yours. Who needs to step beyond to protect others."
Walker let his voice boom out gaining some mumbled appreciation, even a few cheers from those with the energy. Some even walked up to him and looked him in the eye to make their own promises as Mirdant left using the shadowy dark mana to travel and achieve what was necessary.
As Walker calmed things down, he looked deeper and found various monster materials and the remnants of food, no matter how little it was, left behind. The hollow eyed race members who had been poor caretakers of this area had already been chased out. Their knowledge about the monsters here was too simple.
Books about how to keep them barely alive or producing specific parts of their body were useless for the most part. It did not help enough with healing and protecting those here.
Let alone how hatching the dormant eggs forced to remain dormant for display purposes or sales worked.
Then again, the horrified responses of some of the pitch scale dragons came from the fact that a few of their own people’s eggs were found here!
Treated like monsters and items to hatch when desired to be forced in to contracts one day as guards raised to know nothing but servitude. Now that was a future that the pitch scaled drains were glad never occurred but also ignited more future. Especially since the plan to have such a thing occur was clearly there. It was not just some nightmare that would never have been true without intervention.
’Light coiled rope
This rope is a higher class item made to help resist dark mana. It was braided by a specific craftsmen and traded for the contractual promise that a single dark silence hawk would be sent to the craftsmen for monster materials.
This rope can be used to force certain powerful monster eggs in to dormancy and will degrade at an extremely slow rate. Due to this, the egg wrapped by it may be forced in to a dormant state for up to seventy five years or more depending on the environment around the rope and the egg.
It is an item that is tough to repair due to...’
Repairing or worrying about the material was the least of Walker’s worries. It was the seven eggs he saw that worried him.
’Abyss kraken egg clutch
This is a clutch of eggs from an extremely dangerous and long lived race of monsters. They were once said to be related to the cosmic kraken after being left behind in a dark elemental plane and never to properly be brought out in the chaotic mana necessary to develop, causing a mutation and change in affinities.
They can grow to sizes capable of consuming cities easily while they also hunt the largest of predators within the dark elemental plane. They are considered one of the most inteligent monsters and have yet to be recognized as a race due to their bestial instincts being so potent.
They are considered a monster never to fight since the dark mana around them is the same as additional tentacles. They even cause decay just by nearing the edges of the elemental planes that they live in, making them very dangerous to the balance of the elemental planes as a whole.
Their species is constantly hunted by powerful...’
