Chapter 307: Chapter 307: Beast Synthesis Experiment [Part 1]
Since Boris and the Raptors would take until the next day to complete their evolution, Leone returned to his house in the meantime to organize his thoughts.
Once back, the first thing he did was open the Arcane Shop and explore the Mount Section. He had been very excited to see what kind of mounts were now available to him.
But due to his duties, he had no choice but to wait until things settled down first.
Mounts were classified into Common, Uncommon, Rare, Super Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythic, and Divine.
Of course, not all mounts were equal. Some were more powerful than others. Even within the same Rank, racial traits still reigned supreme.
For example, a Rank 3 Dragon would always be more powerful than a Rank 3 Dire Wolf. There was simply no comparison between the two.
When Leone clicked on the Rare Mount category, two monsters immediately caught his eye.
They were none other than the Drakes and the Pteranodons.
Each Drake cost 3,000 BP, while the Pteranodons each cost 2,500 BP.
Other Rank 3 Mounts had also become available, to which Leone couldn’t help but sigh. He had thought having over 500,000 BP made him rich, but the store told him otherwise.
Seeing the prices of the monsters available for selection, he felt that splurging on mounts wasn’t a good idea right now.
’Fortunately, I was rewarded 300 Rare Mount Tickets for completing the territory mission,’ Leone thought. ’That saves me a lot of BP.’
He also received 200 Orc-Exclusive Mount Tickets, as well as 100 Kobold Exclusive Mount Tickets. He planned to share this with his allies at a later time as a surprise.
And just as he had expected, the Rank 3 Mounts for both the Orcs and Kobolds were also unlocked.
While Leone was browsing through the Mount Catalogue, he saw a few monsters he thought would be good to add to the Aslan Tribe’s arsenal.
The Giant Spiders and the Giant Crocodiles.
The Giant Spiders would be very useful for traveling across mountains since they could traverse areas the Drakes were unable to reach.
They could crawl up cliffs with relative ease and were perfect for subterranean travel.
They could also produce spider silk, which could be used for clothes, as well as lightweight armor.
Not to mention, some of the Giant Spiders also produced poison, which could be harvested to be used on arrow tips and blades.
The second mount was the Giant Crocodile.
Unlike the Drakes, which excelled on land, the Giant Crocodiles ruled the rivers.
They weren’t particularly fast over long distances on land, but once in the water, they would become terrifying predators.
Their powerful tails allowed them to propel themselves through rivers with astonishing speed, while their massive jaws could deal devastating damage to anything they could sink their jaws into.
There were also the Giant River Otters.
They were faster and more agile than Giant Crocodiles. In fact, when it came to speed, they were probably the fastest mount he could purchase right now.
And lastly, the Giant Water Lizards.
Unlike the Giant Crocodiles and the Giant River Otters, they were true amphibians, equally adept on land and in water.
While they couldn’t match the Giant Crocodile’s overwhelming strength in the rivers or the Giant River Otter’s unmatched speed, they possessed the best balance between the two.
Their long limbs allowed them to sprint across riverbanks, while their streamlined bodies made them excellent swimmers capable of keeping pace with most boats.
According to the catalogue, Giant Water Lizards also possessed an unusually high compatibility with Beast Synthesis.
Among all the reptilian mounts available in the Rare category, they had the highest chance of awakening a draconic bloodline after being infused with Dragon Blood.
Now that he had unlocked the Rank 3 Mounts, he finally had access to monsters that could travel in the sea and in the air.
Needless to say, they were quite expensive.
Mounts that could swim and fly could be bought for 5,000 BP. Unfortunately, that was just the minimum cost. The rarer the monster, the higher they cost.
Daedalus explained that the Drakes and Pteranodons were only cheaper because Leone had met the conditions to unlock them through the Beast Synthesis Recipes he got as a reward.
The Drakes were unlocked through Beast Synthesis, while the Pteranodons were unlocked through the capture of the Pteranodon Tyrant.
If not for this, their price wouldn’t have been so discounted.
"Daedalus, I have a question," Leone said after checking the list of mounts in the catalogue. "If we give the Giant Crocodile the blood of the Bronze Dragon, will they evolve into Water Drakes through Beast Synthesis?"
Although the catalogue said that the Giant Water Lizard had a higher chance of transforming into a Drake, Leone still thought that the Giant Crocodiles were quite special.
Perhaps some kind of mutation would occur if he used Beast Synthesis on them.
"I’m not sure," Daedalus replied. "If you really want to get Water Drakes, choosing the Giant Water Lizards will give you a higher chance of getting them. Of course, this is not set in stone.
"After all, we don’t have the recipe for it. Best-case scenario, the Giant Water Lizard will turn into a Water Drake. But it’s more likely to turn into a slightly stronger Giant Water Lizard. Also, even if we used the exact same ingredients, the result will not always be the same. This is why Beast Synthesis Recipes are important."
"Then how can we get more of those Beast Synthesis Recipes?" Leone blinked.
"How else?" Daeadalus chuckled. "You buy them with BP."
Out of curiosity, Leone checked the Beast Synthesis Recipe for the River Drake and almost choked when he saw that it cost 50,000 BP.
"What the hell?" Leone couldn’t believe his eyes. "Why is it so expensive?!"
"Because once you unlock it, you can create an army of Water Drakes with a guaranteed chance," Daedalus answered. "The price is worth it, you know?"
Leone then shifted his attention to the Sky Drake recipe, only to almost cough up blood when he saw its price. 100,000 BP?
The Sky Drake was a Super Rare Monster, so its image was grayed out with a lock at its center.
This meant that, unless Leone increased his Territory Rank to Rank 3, it was impossible for him to purchase the Sky Drake from the Arcane Shop. Being rewarded by the recipe was also a feasible method, but it would not be easy.
"Daedalus..." Leone looked at the grimoire with hope.
"I know you’re tempted to get the Sky Drake." Daedalus shook its body. "But right now, we don’t have the resources to build a Sky Drake Battalion. You can purchase the recipe if you insist, but it will be useless if the ingredients if it turns out to be unobtainable at the moment. We might just burn through our BP reserves if we force it."
Leone sighed because getting BP wasn’t easy. Right now, he could gain 327 BP per day.
If this had happened a few months ago, Leone would have been jumping for joy. However, times had changed.
That amount was nowhere near enough for him to gamble the BP he had earned through his mission.
After experiencing multiple hardships, Leone understood that he would need a lot of BP to strengthen the Aslan Tribe.
"Very well, let’s settle for Pteranodon Mounts for our Aerial Battalion for now," Leone stated.
"Wise choice." Daedalus nodded. "Still, you don’t have to be afraid to exchange your rare tickets for the Giant Crocodile and Giant Water Lizards. Getting a few Giant Otters is also a good idea."
After pondering for a while, Leone finally made his choice.
He would exchange 50 tickets for the Pteranodon Mounts, 25 tickets for the Giant Crocodiles, 25 tickets for the Giant Water Lizards, and 10 tickets for the Giant Otters.
He would then keep 50 of the Rare Tickets for safekeeping, while he would use the rest as prizes for the Spinning Wheel event that he planned to host.
Since he had already made up his mind, Leone soon headed to the Hidden Valley.
The river there would be the perfect place to summon his new mounts. Aside from that, he also wanted to see how the Aslan Tribe and the Red-Scale Tribe would react after seeing the new monsters that would become the newest addition to their monster army.
