Chapter 308: Chapter 308: Iron Vultures Vs Shadow Reapers
Shadow Reapers technically only had sixty-seven combatants present including West, his three summons, the members currently outside the base and the massive summoned army.
Iron Vultures had over a hundred awakened present, yet somehow... it felt like Shadow Reapers were the larger force.
Everywhere one looked, there were towering monsters, colossal beasts and multitude of Verdant Pyre Behemoths.
The battlefield looked completely overcrowded with Shadow Reapers forces.
A transformation user from Iron Vultures leapt into the air while his body enlarged into a muscular beast nearly ten feet tall.
He roared. "I’ll crush these thi—"
Before he could complete a sentence, one of the giants swung.
BOOOOOOOOM!
The enormous tower in its grasp came down like divine force, flattening everything in its path.
The transformation user disappeared beneath the attack as three vehicles behind exploded, concrete shattered and the road caved inward.
Nearly ten Iron Vultures members were sent flying through the air.
Some crashed through nearby walls, others bounced across the pavement while a few simply disappeared beneath rubble.
The giant slowly lifted its tower again, and a crater was visible underneath.
Several Iron Vultures members stared in horror. "What the hell is that thing?!"
Another giant attacked, sweeping its towet horizontally this time, obliterating everything in its path.
BOOOOOM!
Barriers shattered and defensive abilities collapsed as awakened members scrambled desperately to avoid being turned into paste.
The giants were demolishing the surroundings but that wasn’t Iron Vultures only problem.
The Verdant Pyre Behemoths shot at very quick pace.
One slammed both flaming paws into the ground and Immediately...
BOOOOM!
A pillar of green fire erupted beneath an Iron Vultures member.
The man screamed as he was launched thirty feet into the air.
Before he even landed, three more pillars exploded beneath nearby awakened.
Unlike ordinary fire, the green flames carried magical force.
They stuck to barriers, burned through armor and continuously spread across the battlefield.
Another Behemoth swiped its claws and five awakened leapt away, trying to evade but one got caught.
The claws carved directly through his defensive equipment before launching him across the battlefield.
Meanwhile more pillars of emerald flames continued erupting.
The battlefield looked like a forest of green infernos.
Iron Vultures immediately tried adapting.
"Focus them!"
"Bring them down one at a time!"
"Stop spreading out!"
Veteran members began barking orders.
The Iron Vultures members immediately formed groups of fours, five and even six in some cases.
Each group concentrated their attacks onto a single Verdant Pyre Behemoth, raining down, fire, ice, lightning, kinetic blasts and explosions...
One particular Behemoth became the focus of five awakened at once as electricity rammed into its side while another Iron Vulture member repeatedly slammed blue glowing bolts into its chest.
An earth manipulator followed up causing stone spikes to erupt beneath it and then came a transformation awakened who attacked from the rear and then a fire user...
The attacks struck continuously as a gravitational manipulator held it down in place.
The creature roared while enduring the bombardment as it fur cracked and chunks of its body exploded away.
The Behemoth finally collapsed after nearly thirty seconds of relentless assault while the five awakened breathed heavily with sweat covering their bodies.
Before they could even recover, another Verdant Pyre Behemoth had charged them.
"Oh come on!" One of them nearly cried.
The beast crashed into their formation like a runaway truck, scattering the entire group
One was sent tumbling through the air, another disappeared beneath its claws while a third got caught by an eruption of green flames.
Everywhere on the battlefield similar scenes played out.
The Verdant Pyre Behemoths were absurdly durable.
They weren’t opponents that could be defeated by one or two awakened.
It took coordinated attacks, relentless pressure and multiple abilities working together to take a single one down... And even then casualties still occurred.
The more the Iron Vultures members fought, the more horrified they became.
Because every time they managed to destroy one summon, three others seemed to appear nearby.
Another giant crushed the east section of battlefield, allowing the elite beasts continued advancing.
Bloodstain quickly realized that if the giants were allowed to continue rampaging unchecked, the battle would be over before it truly began.
The colossal tower-bearers were simply too destructive.
Every swing flattened portions of the battlefield... every step crushed vehicles, walls and defensive positions...
One giant alone was occupying nearly twenty Iron Vultures members while four others were still wreaking havoc elsewhere.
Bloodstain’s eyes narrowed as he ripped another Verdant Pyre Behemoth apart with his bare hands and charged forward.
The ground exploded beneath his feet as crimson aura erupted around him while blood-red energy gathered into his hands.
The energy rapidly stretched outward and in the next instant, a giant scythe materialized.
Its blade was nearly twenty feet long with dark red veins spreading across its surface.
A single swing from Bloodstain, separated a giant enormous arm.
SLAAAAASH!
The severed limb spun through the air before crashing into the battlefield below.
Iron Vultures members immediately erupted into cheers.
"Boss!"
"That’s our leader!"
"Take it down!"
The giant staggered but before it could recover, Bloodstain’s right-hand man made his move.
His body suddenly shrank, becoming smaller and smaller, until he was barely larger than a mouse.
He vanished from sight and then reappeared atop the giant’s remaining arm.
The giant attempted to swat him but the man phased through the attack entirely by becoming even smaller.
His body slipped through tiny cracks in the giant’s bark-like exterior as he entered the giant.
A few seconds later...
BOOOOOOOOM!
The giant’s chest exploded outward.
Wooden armor, stone flesh and magical organs erupted into the air.
The right-hand man emerged from the opening and immediately began growing.
His body expanded larger and larger and due to that expanding force, everything around him was ripping apart...
In this case... the giants innards.
The giant staggered as Iron Vultures members unleashed their strongest attacks simultaneously.
BOOOMM!
BOOOMM!
BOOOMM!
BOOOMM!
The barrage hammered the giant relentlessly before the massive creature finally collapsed.
Its enormous body shook the battlefield upon impact causing several nearby awakened stumbled from the force.
Cheers erupted again but the celebration didn’t last long because there were still four giants.
To make matters worse, those weren’t even the biggest problem anymore...
The true nightmare were the five elite beasts.
The crystal-antlered wolf, leapt over an entire battlefield section in a single bound, barely touching the ground with its paws.
An Iron Vultures member tried to intercept it but the wolf simply passed by him.
In the next instant, his body suddenly split apart.
The awakened was dead before he even understood what had happened.
The wolf’s claws were that extremely fast and super sharp.
Every movement left glowing emerald trails hanging in the air.
The six-legged obsidian panther was even worse.
It practically teleported across the battlefield, whipping its thorn-covered tendrils around like living spears.
One tendril pierced through a defensive barrier while another wrapped around an awakened’s waist.
The poor man barely had time to scream before being hurled into the path of a giant’s descending tower.
The impact painted the surrounding pavement red.
The enormous forest-backed tortoise was a moving catastrophe.
Iron Vultures members continuously attacked it but nothing worked.
Fire abilities, energy blasts, kinetic attacks and everything they could muster struck its shell but nothing accomplished anything significant.
The creature simply kept walking and every step caused gigantic roots to erupt from the earth.
The roots burst upward beneath awakened, wrapped around limbs, crushed bones, dragged victims into the ground and even ripped some apart, limb by limb.
Entire groups found themselves trapped before other summons arrived to finish the job.
Above the battlefield, the leaf-winged predator ruled the skies.
Every flap of its sixty feet wide wings, eleased thousands of glowing razor leaves that cut through armor, sliced skin and shredded barriers.
Iron Vultures ranged attackers found themselves completely suppressed.
The battlefield had become a nightmare.
The Iron Vultures summoners finally unleashed their summons.
Massive magical circles erupted throughout the battlefield.
One creature emerged resembling a gigantic rhinoceros covered entirely in black iron plating.
Another looked like a skeletal dragon with glowing blue fire burning inside its ribcage.
A third was an eight-armed gorilla standing nearly twenty feet tall.
There was a three-headed crimson hound, a giant scorpion with crystal stingers, a floating eyeball creature covered in hundreds of smaller eyes, a serpent made entirely from bones, a humanoid construct formed from living steel, a
giant armored mantis and a monstrous bat whose wings generated sonic shockwaves.
Ten summons immediately rushed Gor’thala and Aurethia.
The summoners knew exactly who the greatest threats were. Once Gor’thala was dealt with, her summons would definitely vanished...
The battlefield around them exploded as the iron rhinoceros charged first.
The creature lowered its head and accelerated, causing the ground to crack in its path.
Gor’thala smiled while transforming her staff into a sword.
CLANG!
The collision generated a shockwave, throwing nearby fighters off their feet.
The rhinoceros roared while Gor’thala slid backward several feet.
For the first time in the battle she looked slightly challenged.
