The exploding flames crashed into me the moment the words left my mouth...

Magma surged from the plains below as the monsters made their moves.

GROOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

WOOOSHH!!!

I blasted the ash and smoke away just in time to see a massive fist coming straight for my head.

I didn’t bother ducking or shifting as the fist struck.

CRASHHHHH!!!!

Shattering on impact as the monster gave what I assumed to be a pain filled roar.

"Heh. Take one of mine, why don’t you?"

BANG!!!

My fist connected with monster and it became fine dust.

SPLASH! SPLASH!

Before I could make another move, the leading gorath burst out of a pool of magma. Skin reddened. It’s fist melted the air as it drove them at me with furious intensity.

"Hahahaahahahahahahahah..... Alrigh big guy!! You’re on!" I laughed. Diving down to meet to blow head on.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM!!!!!

The entire plains shook violently as we collided.

BANG!

The Gorath, as expected was turned into debris instantly.

"Now.. time to send you guys packing as well." I turned to the surrounding goraths with a vicious smile.

GROOOOOOOOOOOOOO....

BOOOOMMM!!!

The volcanic plains erupted into one explosion after another.

Every punch erased another Gorath.

Every collision reduced another colossal body to nothing but molten debris raining into the magma below.

BANG!!!!

My fist connected cleanly with the last remaining gorath as I watched its fragments fall to the earth.

"And that’s that..." I clapped my hands casually. Turning to the abyss walker behind me.

"Heh! How’s that for a dangerous plain? Nothing but a few minute’s work."

"Ummm... outsider..."

Before he could complete his words though, a realization suddenly hit me.

"Damn!!!! I forgot to keep an intact body!! How am I going to complete my mission!!"

"Umm... outsider..."

"Shit! I let my excitement get the better of me! Again! Now I have to go look for another group!!"

"Umm... outsider.."

"WHAT??? CAN’T YOU SEE I’M BUSY??" I snapped.

"Umm... you didn’t kill them."

"Huh? What are you talking about. They’re...."

SPLASH! SPLASH!! SPLASHI!!!

I had barely completed my words before multiple figures burst out of the molten earth below.

"Huh?" A confused expression appeared on my face as I studied the creatures that had just appeared.

They were the very same ones I had just dispatched.

GROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

They roared! Fury evident as they charged at me.

"Want some more??? Bring it!!!"

I roared back.

I would think about what the fuck was happening later. But for now.

"Get these hands!!"

BOOOM!!!!!

A punch detonated the air as 5 goraths were blasted to bits before they could mount any form of defense.

BANG!!

Tanking a punch from a sneaking infernal. I grabbed its arm.

"ALLEY OOP!!" Throwing it sky high, I grabbed hold of the massive foot swinging for my head, before bolting into the air.

Arriving above the monster I had sent flying, I swung the one in my arms downward.

"Hiyaaaa..."

CRASH!!!

Both monsters scattered into bits on impact.

Swish!! Swish!! Swish!!!

The air screamed as multiple fists blasted towards me.

The leading gorath and three more had attacked.

The air warped from the sheer heat their fists emitted.

"Useless..." with nothing but a thought. The force within their attacks dispersed like it was nothing.

"Gro??" Ignoring the confusion of the monsters.

BOOOOM!!

I punched out.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

The four attacking creatures exploded into debris instantly.

I looked down. The earth had become a blur. But I could still feel the approaching auras of the other goraths.

"Alright. Let’s send you guys to kingdom come once more."

BOOOOOMMMM!!!

I gave a furious flap of my wings as I began my descent.

The moment the monsters got into my line of sight. My fingers curled into a tight fist.

"Cowabunga. Bitches..."

SWIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII...

My fist tore the air apart as it arrived like an omen before the ascending monsters.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!

The clouds of volcanic ash around us scattered violently as the creatures exploded into molten debris.

"Hooo... I guess that’s that." I smiled. Intending to return, but...

SPLASH! SPLASH!! SPLASH!!!

GROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

"What??" The sound of magma splashing out stopped me dead in my tracks.

My focus turned downward as I saw the same creatures I’d just obliterated re-emerge as thought nothing happened.

My brows furrowed.

"Alright you fuckers. Wanna play a game of attrition with me? You’re on."

I pushed off the air as I plummeted towards the molten earth.

GROOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

The monsters roared in defiance. Not an ounce of fear as the charged up at my descending figure.

A cataclysmic collision ensued as my carnage resumed.

Another gorath exploded beneath my fists yet my expression on Lu darkened further because....

The same monsters spawned once more.

I had already destroyed these same creatures dozens of times already but they kept coming. And now, my frustration was boiling over.

At this point, I could feel the monster’s mocking looks as they waited for me to strike, not even bothering to make a move this time.

"Hey! You!" Not letting my frustration get the better of me, I decided to confide in my informant.

"Ye.. yes.." the abyss walker seemed terrified. Whether it was from the monsters endless spawn rate or from my own display, I didn’t actually care. What I wanted to know was..

"Why do these fuckers keep spawning like a bad habit?"

"Yes.. yes.. you see.. lord outsider.. that’s the terror of the plains. It’s not just the strength of the monsters that’s the problem."

For some reason, his way of addressing me had changed, but I couldn’t care for that right now.

"Explain."

"My lord. It works like this. The Goraths are born in these molten plains and they live and die in these plains all their life if they’re not exiled."

"What’s that got to do with my dilemma?"

"Well... my lord.. from what this one knows, it’s said that so long as the plains exist, the goraths won’t die."

Ahh... so that’s what was happening.

I looked down. At the expansive magma plains below..

"So. You’re saying. To kill them permanently, I need to kill these plains?"

"Umm.. my lord... I’m sorry if I’m being rude, but. Did.. did you just say kill these plains?"

"Isn’t that what you said?" I asked, giving him a side eye.

"Ye.. yes.. but. I don’t think there’s an actual way to kill these plains. I’m sure the people who said that just said it so people would know to capture goraths instead of trying to kill them on these plains."

"Heh!" I laughed.

Raising my head, I finally focused on the still stationary monsters.

"Little abyss walker. Allow me to expand your horizons today."

A dangerous grin slowly spread across my face.

"But first.." I appeared in the midst of the monsters.

Bang!!!

I shattered the lower half of one of the huge creatures before grabbing its remaining half and vanishing, All before the monsters could even understand what was happening.

GROOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

They roared in outrage once they snapped out of their trance.

"Heh! Watch over this for me." Ignoring the fuming creatures, I handed the immobilized monster to the abyss walker.

"Umm.... My lord.. sir.. what... what are you doing?"

"Me? Heh! I’m about to kill these plains.."

paying no attention the the shocked expression on his face, I bolted into the skies.

I ascended high enough for me to get a clear view of the entire plains.

"Hmm...." Even from the height I had attained, I still couldn’t see the end of the volcanic plains.

I had no idea why every location within this abyss was unnecessarily large, but I didn’t care either way.

"Alright.. time to see what you can do when unhinged.." I whispered quietly..

ROOOOOOOARRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!

Elira appeared in my hand. Her form vibrating in indignation.

"Haaa... you unruly girl. Must we always have this argument?"

HUMMMMMMMMM!!!!!

"Fine! God! I won’t put you back! Sheesh.."

HUMMM!!!

"Next time I get a weapon, I’ll find one without attitude.." done grumbling, I raised her up..

GROW!

Her length grew as her blade expanded.

She grew until she became a sky splitting halberd, her golden radiance shining brilliantly in the dreary abyss skies.

A deathly black glow coated her entire blade until the gold became muted enough that one couldn’t even see her anymore.

Death suffused the entire atmosphere.

Every Gorath below seemed to instinctively realise something was terribly wrong as they roared and charged into the sky, but..

"Too late..."

I swung.

The world...

Stopped.

"ABSOLUTE..."

The halberd kissed the molten earth.

CRACK!!

A single black fissure raced across the volcanic plains, stretching farther than sight itself.

"...Death."

Silence.

No explosion.

No shockwave.

No eruption.

Only...

Death.

The magma ceased to flow.

The volcanic heat vanished.

The crimson glow faded into lifeless black.

One after another...

The Goraths collapsed into drifting ash.

And the plains that had birthed them for longer than I cared for....

Died.
