"Are you sure you want to be assigned this particular mission? It’s the most dangerous of all riftstrider entry missions." The abyss walker at the missions assignment section of the guild asked with raised brows.

"I’ll manage. Still feels a bit too easy but I guess it can’t be helped." I shrugged.

Giving me a once over, the lady finally relented.

"Alright then. Can I have your wanderer license? I’ll register the mission, and once you’re done, you can come submit it here for your application completion."

I handed over my card.

"What? This can’t be right." Her expression changed the moment she laid eyes on the details of the card.

"What happened."

"Umm... this says you’re a B-rank warrior."

"Yea. What’s wrong with that?"

"Nothing. It’s just... the mission you’re taking.. even for transformation stage warriors is still an almost assured suicide...."

"Don’t worry about it. If I wasn’t capable I wouldn’t have been assigned my card to begin with." I replied with a disarming smile.

"Uhhh.... This.."

"Come on, pretty lady. Just do me this favor. I’ll owe you one." My smile turned gentle.

".... Fine. But, I won’t take any responsibility for accidents."

"Hah! Good looks for the win! Again!"

"Don’t worry. I’ll be fine."

Letting out a long breath, she reluctantly took my card and registered the mission.

"Hmm?"

"What now?" My frustration almost bled through my voice but I swallowed it down.

"Oh it’s nothing. It’s just, your Alias hasn’t been registered yet."

"My alias?"

"What the guild and by extension, everyone else should call you. That is if you end up making a name for yourself and not dying on your first mission."

"Hmmmm? An alias for the whole world to call me huh?"

I placed a finger to my chin in thought.

But, I didn’t need to think about it for long.

The answer was already obvious from the start wasn’t it?

"Heh! Alright.. I’ll be called..."

A few moments after Dante left the guild building.

"Hey! You there! Did a white haired outsider pass through here just now?" A horned abyss walker ran to the missions assignment area, urgency clear on his face.

"Umm.. no sir.. I didn’t encounter any such person."

The attendant he asked looked clueless.

"Useless.." he snapped.

Yet before he could ask another person,

"Lord corvak." A feminine voice called out to him.

"Hmm.. Cardesa.."

He approached the woman in hurry.

"Did you attend to someone like that?"

"Ye.. yes.. is something.. wrong?"

"Quick! Pull up his mission report! Which mission did he take."

The woman hurriedly pulled out Dante’s mission report and showed it to the man.

"This...!"

"Lord corvak. Is something wrong?"

"..... Cardesa. Tell me. Have you heard of the Two Calamities?"

"Two Calamities? Lord corvak, weren’t those just a myth? Two outsiders that ran through the ranks of the wanderer guild with unprecedented speed? So much so that they outgrew the outer region in a single month?"

"Yes. I can assure you that they were no myth. And I believe we just met someone on the same level as the Two Calamities. No. He may be an even more terrifying anomaly."

"Lord corvak...." The woman’s eyes had already gone wide from the revelation.

"His alias. What did he register himself as?" The man asked once more.

The woman, hearing his question, snapped out of her shock as she pulled up the page of his alias.

The man looked over, and there. Written boldly. Almost as though a declaration to the world itself.

"ABSOLUTE."

"Now... how do I use this shit?" I couldn’t help grumbling as I pulled out the shabby map I’d taken from that abyss walker.

I’d received my mission coordinates already. Now it’s finding the spot on this shabby map that’s causing me a headache.

"Argghh... fuck it."

Grab!

I did the most logical thing any confused person would do in my situation.

Grabbed someone at random from the street.

"Hey!"

"Oh no!! Sir please... I already answered you all I know. Please don’t hurt me."

"Hmm? Ehh? It’s you?" What would you know? I had, by some freaky coincidence grabbed the same person I’d grabbed earlier today.

"Looks like life wants you to be my personal assistant." I grinned.

"Sir please... just let me go.."

Slap!

His teeth came flying out his mouth the moment my palm made contact.

"Still feel like leaving?"

He shook his head rapidly.

"Good. Now, how good are you at map reading?"

"Fueh?"

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!" The screams of the terrified abyss walker were almost deafening.

Turns out he was quite adept at map reading. Well, he said even a child could do it, but another slap deftly changed that definition to him being an adept map reader.

So I decided to have him accompany me. Wouldn’t want to get lost after being done with my mission now would I?

"Hmmm?" Looking ahead, I could see a landscape of nothing but death and scarred earth.

"Wait.. this looks familiar?" The closer I got, the more familiar it became, until...

"Fuck!" I couldn’t help cussing out loud as I arrived above the place.

"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" My irritation only built up further as I saw the still standing shelter I had erected to keep that alien safe ealier.

Yes. The place I was heading to, the place with the monster I was supposed to hunt, was the same location I had saved that blue skinned alien ealier.

And my target.....

"Well this is about to get troublesome.." Muttering under my breath, I descended.

"Wha... what... who... how.." the abyss walker seemed to have fallen into a state of delirium as he looked at the... well... whatever remained of the place.

"Hey! You!"

"Ahhhh!!! Please.. no more hitting.."

"Relax. I’m not going to hit you if you behave. I just need to know, is there any other place I can find the infernal that was supposed to be here?"

His face visibly paled at my question as he tried to deny it..

Slap!

"Ahhhh... you shaid no.."

"You were about to lie."

That shut him up.

"Now tell me. Where can I find it?"

"Pleash... that plashe. Death."

"Don’t worry about it. Just tell me." I waved away his concern. I wasn’t about to flunk my first mission all because I had gotten unknowingly handsy with the infernal.

"....."

The abyss walker looked at me with what I assumed were puppy dog eyes, but..

Slap!!

"Ahhhhh!!! Why!!????"

"Don’t give me those eyes. You’ll ruin dogs for me."

He looked one second away from breaking down into tears, but I wasn’t having it.

"Don’t waste my time abyss walker. Tell me what I want to know, my patience is limited." My voice turned cold.

"... Haa... I’ll.. I’ll take you..."

"Good."

Done with my persuasion, I picked him by the scruff of his neck once more as my wings spread and I took off..

....

....

"It’s here.." we arrived at a volcanic mountain range.

Dark abyssal magma flowed through the earth like blood.

The temperature wasn’t just hot. It was blistering.

I had to actively protect the abyss walker with my aura to keep him safe.

"Hmm.. are you sure they’re..."

GROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....

I had barely gotten the words out when multiple auras erupted from down below.

"Hmm? This can’t be right, can it?" My mission was to take down a SSS-rank infernal gorath. That’s what the monster that had obliterated Lysera’s crew was called. But..

"Why do these bastards feel far beyond that?" I couldn’t feel a single aura not comparable to the law comprehension stage here.

"The gorath at the plains was a banished kin. On the ashen plains. Any gorath below the Calamity-class gets exiled from the plains. That’s why I didn’t want us to come."

"Calamity?"

"It’s what monsters on par with comprehension stage experts are called. But it doesn’t matter anyway, we’re already done for." And almost as if on cue...

BOOM!!

BOOM!!

Multiple figures burst out of the magma plains below, surrounding us in an inescapable circle.

GROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

The leading infernal roared my way. Magma flying like spittle from its mouth.

Feeling the rising heat. the blistering temperatures.

My excitement slowly rose to match it.

"Little abyss walker. I’ll need you to step back for a few moments. Things are about to get... HOT."

A full blown toothy grin had already appeared on my face my this point as my excitement spilled over.

"Alright, big guys. Let’s see what you’ve got."

"Come."

GROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
