Chapter 341: Chapter 341 - 339:Who cares?
"Human... you dare....."
"Time’s up..."
RIIIPPPPPPP!!!!!
My words were accompanied by the clear sounds of flesh being torn.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
A chilling scream of raw agony tore out the throat of the armor wearing man as he fell back.
Blue blood pooled beneath him as the stump refused to heal.
"What’s happening..."
SHIING!!!
The scream successfully snapped the sisters from their touching reunion as the other guards around them pulled their weapons out. Their auras locking onto me as their killing intent rose steadily.
My eyes went dead immediately.
I leveled an emotionless look at the guards all around.
"Little alien.. tell your friends to put down their weapons in the next instant or they shall lose their right to life." My words weren’t directed at any of them.
I had no business with them.
My words were meant for the alien princess I had arrived here with.
"Sister!! Have them put their weapons down.." true to her nature, she immediately stood in front of me as she confronted the group.
"Lysera. Move. This human dared attack Thrax." The elder sister’s voice had turned cold. Gone was the emotional and soft big sister.
She looked more like a female commander than anything else at this moment.
But that was none of my concern..
"Little alien. I’m losing my patience." I stood upright. My figure standing ramrod straight as I closed my eyes.
"If their weapons are still trained at me by the time my eyes open. I shall not be blamed for what happens next."
"Sister... listen to me. If you don’t want a bloodbath on your hands. Please. Order them to put down their weapons." I could hear the urgency in her voice.
It seems our little time together has already made clear what future awaited these fools.
"But...."
"SISTER!!! PLEASE!!!!!!" She yelled in absolute urgency as my eyelids twitched.
"....."
my eyes slowly opened as a horrifying murderous intent choked the entire city.
The thundering skies went dead quiet.
The translucent dome flickered erratically.
The atmosphere started turning a crimson red as every single soul within the city felt the chilling certainty of absolute death engulf their being...
"SISTER!!!"
"Pu.... Put it down! Now!" The elder sister finally forced the order out of her mouth. The guards seemed to have realized just how fucked they were as soon enough.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
The sound of weapons falling to the ground graced my ears.
I opened my eyes to the scene of everyone collapsed or on their knees as they took in deep steadying breaths.
Their bodies soaked from the cold sweat their pores had expunged.
Well. All except for...
"Big sis..." my alien companion rushed towards her sister, helping her to her feet as she turned towards me.
"Benefactor. Please. Forgive my people for their offense. I promise you they only meant to protect themselves, not cause you harm." She bowed her head as she apologized.
"Lysera..." her elder sister tried to force her up but she remained adamant.
My cold gaze settled upon her bowing form.
"I believe this is where we part ways." I replied before turning around.
"Benefactor. Please wait..."
She received no reply from me as I continued my exit.
My steps stopped as I arrived before the still writhing fool that had dared brandish a weapon at me.
He was being tended to by his fellows as they tried to stop the blood pouring out his ripped arm.
"Move.." my eyes flared a brilliant gold as the three moved aside in a haste.
I continued my exit without so much as looking back, the moment I had walked far enough, space folded around me as I.... vanished.
...
...
Lysera continued staring at the spot Dante had disappeared from for quite sometime, lost in thought.
"Lysera.." her elder sister’s soft voice snapped her out of her trance as her eyes shifted.
"Big sis..." she answered.
"Who... who was that?" The elder sister asked. A subtle shiver running through her body as she recalled the horrifying killing intent that had drowned the entire city in dread just moments ago.
"Sister... that was my benefactor." Lysera replied with a wry shake of her head.
"Your benefactor?"
"Sister... do you think I just escaped from a monster capable of...." Her voice cracked as she got to this point. But, remembering those intense golden pupils that radiated effortless confidence. She stuffed down the hurt before continuing..
"Do you think I just escaped from a monster capable of killing Caada and the others?" Her question made her elder sister’s eyes shrink in stunned realization.
"Don’t tell me..."
"Indeed sister. He was the one who saved me." Lysera confirmed her sister’s thoughts.
Her eyes returned to the spot Dante had disappeared from, as a disappointed expression crossed her face...
"Haa... to think this is how I repaid such a favor."
"Lysera... I didn’t know."
"It’s not your fault, big sis. You don’t need to feel sorry."
Her elder sister’s mood didn’t improve. Instead, it got worse.
"Tell me. What’s his name. Where he’s from. I’ll be sure to send him a proper reward to atone for our mistake when we get back home."
"This...." Lysera’s face scrunched up in visible frustration.
"You didn’t get his name?"
"Haaa... that benefactor, despite being overwhelmingly powerful, can be pretty clueless sometimes..." she exhaled a long tired breath.
"Princess Nyssara..." a pained voice interrupted the sisters’ conversation as the two stopped. Their attention turning towards the voice.
A look of disgust flashed through Lysera’s eyes as she leveled an unimpressed look at the man clutching his bleeding stump.
"Princess Lysera. It’s good to see you in good health.." his face twisted in pain..
"Ughh.. I’m glad you’re safe and sound."
"Thrax. You look... worse for wear." Lysera’s face had regained its regality as she spoke in a formal tone.
"My apologies for the ugly display, princess. That barbarian merely caught me off guard.. ughh.."
"Hmm.. right. Of guard." She didn’t bother hiding the mockery in her tone.
Sensing her sister’s worsening mood. Lysera’s elder sister, Nyssara finally butted in.
"Alright. Lysera. That’s enough catching up. Let’s get you rested. And you." Her focus shifted to the sweating man. His face having gone deathly pale from the excessive loss of blood.
"Let’s get you treated. I can’t have you dying on me now, can I." Nyssara gave the young man a professional smile.
"I’m pleased by your care, princess." The man’s face brightened instantly at those words.
"Alright. Everyone, let’s get some rest. It’s been a long day."
"Yes princess."
The group turned and retreated as two other men supported the injured man.
"Lysera?" Nyssara’s call pulled Lysera from her thoughts as finally she sighed and turned her gaze from the spot Dante had just been, following behind her sister as the two made their way towards their resting appointments.
.....
.....
Within the city lord mansion.
A man with ash-grey skin sat on his office seat. A solemn expression on his face as he rested his chin in his clasped hands.
"Did you feel it?" He addressed the group gathered within the hall with him.
"Yes city lord." A man with an open slit on his forehead. Copper tan skin. And a massive frame replied solely.
"Do we know who it is that could’ve released such a horrifying aura?"
Nobody answered.
"Alright then." He stood. Draping the coat resting on his chair over his shoulders.
"Everyone. Move out. Check for any new entrants into the city. Do not engage any of them. Just observe. And should you suspect anything. Inform me immediately. We cannot permit a being capable of releasing such an aura to wander freely through my city."
"Understood." The gathered group replied in unison.
"Alright then. This meeting is adjourned."
One by one, they all stood up and made their way out.
The hunt for a very troublesome outsider being put into action.
....
Meanwhile...
After randomly teleporting to a different location. I quickly tossed aside the unpleasantness from earlier.
I doubted I was going to ever encounter them again. So why bother being bothered with something that was of no consequence, when I could be doing something infinitely more exciting.
"Hehehehe... alright.. time to get the adventure started.." picking an absolutely random direction, I walked.
Did I have any idea where I was going ?
Absolutely not.
Would that in any way dampen my enthusiasm?
"Heh! You wish..."
Otherworldly adventures. Here I come.
Somewhere along the way, I’d completely forgotten why I’d entered the Abyss in the first place.
...
Ah.
Whatever.
If I had enough fun, everything else would sort itself out eventually.
Hahahahahaha...
