Hearing the sounds of explosions from the western direction, I adjusted myself, before...

"Damn... that’s one angry monster." I appeared above a devastated landscape....

BOOOOOOMMMMMMM!

Just in time to see two unfortunate souls get turned into meat paste within a deep crater.

I whistled. Impressed at the sheer brutality of the attack..

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" A feminine scream caught my attention as I turned.

My eyes piercing through the distance as I caught sight of a blue skinned woman slamming back first into the face of a sky reaching mountain.

The light sphere covering her face shattered as her mouth opened and she fell into a coughing fit, puking out copious amounts of blood.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The monster below took three thundering steps.

Each one covering hundreds of meters as it appeared right before the collapsed figure.

I took a step and appeared right above the creature that had already propped up its arm for the final strike. The blue skinned lady having accepted her fate and closing her eyes in resignation.

"Heh! Count yourself lucky.." I snickered.

There was no way I was about to let the first person I met here, that wasn’t ordering me around, be turned into meat patty when I clearly had no idea how to get out of here.

So... I moved..

WOOOOOOSHHHHH!!!!

The air screamed as the monster’s fist descended.

But...

GRAB.

I raised my right arm, catching the fist as the force behind the attack dispersed harmlessly..

Grrrr?

The monster gave an unintelligible sound of confusion as my lips slowly curled up.

"Now, big guy... that’s not any way to treat a pretty lady, now is it?"

My smile widened as the monster tried to pull its arm out in vain.

"How about I give you a taste of your own medicine?" My fingers slowly curled into a fist.

ROOOOOOOOOOOOARRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

The monster roared in defiance as it raised its three other arms..

"Tsk tsk tsk, let me show you how...." I pulled my arm back slowly...

".... How to throw a real punch."

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!

A deafening explosion sounded out as I let my fist loose.

The moment the punch connected.

The monster. The mountains behind it. The land stretching beyond the horizon. For an immeasurable distance... everything simply.... ceased to exist.

"Damn..... that will never get old." I remarked as I took in the destruction caused by a casual punch.

"...huh?" A stunned voice from behind me snapped me from my appreciation of myself, as I turned around.

"Oh.. there you are..." I crouched down. A small smile on my face..

"I almost forgot about you..." I stretched out my hand, "I’m Dante. No need to thank me. I’m the main character. It’s what we do."

Silence. That was the only reply I received.

"Umm... hello?" I waved my hands across her face.

"Was my introduction really that terrible?" I mused gently, finger to my chin. But then I caught sight of where her eyes were focused and my smile deepened.

"Heh! Still looking over there? Well don’t. It was nothing more than a love tap." It really was. I hadn’t put in any effort in that punch.

I was hoping that would pacify the stunned woman but....

"Haaaaa...." Her eyes rolled into the back of her head as she fainted.

"Ehh?"

I sat cross legged with my eyes closed.

"Seems I’ve really picked up a bad habit from that old man.." I chuckled at that realization as my eyes remained closed.

I had erected a small cover after the blue skinned woman collapsed. Now, I was just waiting for her to awaken...

"Ughhhh...." I had barely completed the thought when a soft groaning sound caught my attention.

My eyes slowly opened as I saw the blue skinned woman rouse from her slumber.

"Heh! Waky waky.. sleeping beauty." I couldn’t resist the urge that came over me.

My voice successfully attracted her attention as her body froze.

She turned mechanically towards me. Before her eyes turned, taking in the sight of where she had found herself.

"Don’t worry.. the monster is gone." I spoke in the most soothing voice I could muster but...

No reply...

"Ummm..." before I could begin to feel offended...

"Sruuuuu fral anytl soff jeakt..."

"Ehh?" I couldn’t understand a single word coming out the mouth of the woman.

Her eyes widened in slow realization as her hands reached for her throat.

She began gasping for breath. Face turning... well, she was already blue.

"Now what the fuck are you on about?" I was already getting tired of all these theatrics from this blue skinned woman as I began regretting ever getting involved..

"Nurul kuh abat?" Her spasms stopped as her eyes widened.

I couldn’t understand what she was saying, but from her reaction, I could guess..

"Don’t worry.. I have already cleansed this space of every ounce of entropy. You’re safe." I didn’t know if she could understand my words but she suddenly turned towards me. Eyes wide as tears fell unabated.

"Narakall bareath ssha. Lukrakh mahwowt djow..."

"Oyy! Oyy! Oyy! I can’t understand shit..." I waved my hands continuously in front of her..

She stopped after seeing my motion. Head tilted in confusion.

"Haaa... great. Just my fucking luck. I finally find someone I can ask for direction but they’re speaking fantasy German. FUCK!" I cussed..

But, thankfully....

[DING!]

The sound came like the arrival of a messiah...

[Chaotic comprehension activating...]

"Yesss!!!! Chaotic comprehension. My love. You’re the best." I rejoiced out loud, startling the confused alien.

It was nothing but a few moments before....

[DING!]

[You have acquired the Talent ]

No ranks. No nothing. But I couldn’t care less. The name was promising enough.

"Alright. Let’s test this out." I muttered under my breath before turning towards the confused alien.

"Hey! Can. You. Understand. Me?" I spoke word for word. Trying to make sure I enunciated each word enough to be understood.

"Benefactor. I can understand you just fine. Please. You don’t have to treat Lysera like she’s dumb." Hearing and understanding the words coming out of her mouth, I sighed in relief..

"Haa... finally. Fuck. I couldn’t understand a single thing you were saying before, good thing it’s fixed now."

"Hmm?" She tilted her head further in confusion before realization dawned on her.

"Ahhh!!" A cute yelp came from her mouth as she touched her neck frantically..

"It’s gone.. it’s gone.. big sister is going to kill lysera." She held her head as she suddenly looked ready to burst into tears.

"Looking for something?" I asked.

"Hmm. My translator."

"Is it this?" I took out a tiny microchip looking device and showed it to her.

"Yes! Thank you." She grabbed the device. Placed it on her nape.

The moment she did.

Beep! Beep! A soft beeping noise sounded as the chip expanded into a set of deep blue armor.

A translucent dome covering her head.

"Haaa... much better." She sighed in relief before going quiet once more.

Only the noise of the howling winds outside could be heard as we both went quiet, until...

"Hic... hic.." the soft sounds of sobbing broke the silence..

I opened my eyes. The alien was already shedding tears.

"Caada... Goron... Hic... Hic... Akasha.. Mireya... No... Hic... I’m sorry..." she curled into a ball as her sobs grew louder and louder until they became loud wails of agony..

I remained quiet. I couldn’t care less about the other people that had died. But I could understand the feeling of watching your loved ones die before your eyes. That feeling of helplessness. I could understand.

And because I could understand it. I let her cry. Let her get the pain out. For there was no way to truly heal but allowing yourself a moment to grieve their passing. And so, the place remained still with only her loud sobs bouncing off the walls.....
