**********
Deep within the outer fringes of the abyss.
The atmosphere here was even more twisted.
The madness reaching levels that anyone not within the law comprehension stages or having some powerful levels of comprehension would simple die from breathing.
The world was confused. Time moved wrong. Space didn’t exist like it should. Everything existed in a state of absolute disarray.
Yet, within this maddened environment.
A magnificent city stood.
It was a city large enough to cover multiple times the same space as that of the imperial capital of the human continents eastern domain.
Viewed from above. The city looked like it went on forever. Covering enough land to house a continent or two.
IBNIS AL’KABIN. The city of THE UNDYING.
It had stood for an untold number of ages within the abyss. With multiple rulers having come and gone.
It had gotten its name, not from the fact that there existed undead here. No. It had gotten that name because of its ruling class.
The VEYR.
One of the oldest races within the outer fringes of the abyss.
A race known for their extreme impossibility to kill.
A race that has made the treacherous environment of the abyss their own weapon of destruction.
It is said that if one encountered a veyr and doesn’t kill them, allowing them to escape. Meeting them once more would be the greatest mistake of your life since a veyr never loses twice.
But. That would be what the history books said.
As for those within the city. Those of the current era.
There was only one reason why the city deserved its name.
Kolen’kul Abarith, The Unkillable.
The current emperor of the Veyr.
Prior to his time, the veyr had never had anyone higher than a High Marshal.
Then he came. A talent unlike any other.
Earning himself the title ABYSS MONARCH! The very first of his lineage to ever do so in a very, very long time.
He became one of the only three individuals in the outer fringes of the abyss to currently wield such a title.
His rise propelled the Veyr to an unprecedented level of prestige, thus earning him the unmitigated worship of the people.
On IBNIS AL’KABIN territory. The name KOLEN’KUL ABARITH. Was akin to god himself.
.......
At the center of this majestic city. Stood a magnificent castle. Its walls were ashen with cracks running through them. The cracks weren’t damage, no. They were entropy etched into structure.
Within an expansive room. The madness here had taken an even more drastic turn.
The world was in a state of perpetual confusion.
Up was down. Down was up.
Time wasn’t moving. Yet, it was aging faster.
Space didn’t exist. But then it did.
The laws were in complete disarray.
The world visibly died. Then recovered.
The cycle continuing without end.
Yet. With every recovery. The damage became more permanent. The world around him etched closer to a state of absolute RUIN.
And in the center of this madness. A man sat in absolute silence.
Silver white hair.
Pale ashen skin with black runic marks crawling over his bare skin.
His eyes were closed as he remained in a state of tranquility.
He was the only thing that made any ounce of sense in the madness that surrounded him. Yet. He seemed in absolute tune with the decaying world.
With each heavy breath that left him. The world’s decay. The laws’ decay. Everything accelerated just a bit more.
Even his own body wasn’t spared. Yet. For every damage he received. His body remade itself. Stronger. More resilient. More Attuned.
"My lord." A voice broke the stillness of the realm as the man’s breathing stopped.
The world falling silent around him.
Slowly. His eyes opened.
Twin pupils in each. Glowing with a calm majesty.
The moment his eyes opened. The world rapidly decayed and died completely. All that was left was an empty space of nothing.
"Why do you disturb my training?" His voice wasn’t loud. It didn’t need to be. Everyone knew that the lord of the castle never yelled.
"Forgive my intrusion." The voice apologized.
"But... the third young master... his soul lantern has shattered..."
.....
.....
Silence.
The man didn’t so much as react to the news. His twin slitted pupils didn’t shake. The tranquility in them never wavered. Yet the world felt it.
The nothingness around him began... decaying.
"Fix it." A single statement.
"Understood." A single reply.
The man closed his eyes once more. Returning to a state of meditation as the madness around him returned.
.....
.....
"System.." finally freed from all distractions. I placed the headless corpse beside me. Sitting cross legged on the shattered earth, I called out softly..
[DING!!]
[SUPREME LAW]
.....
First up was the law I’d gotten before even stepping foot in here.
And looking at what it said, I could understand... nothing.
Don’t get me wrong.
I understood the idea.
But using it?
That was another matter entirely.
And in a place like this where I could feel the clear attunement this law had with the environment, I wasn’t about to try testing shit out. Collapse had already made clear what happens if I test something out Willy nilly.
So, I pushed it aside for now. Just like my other laws. I would take my time to get them back into shape. But for now...
[DING!]
[SUPREME LAW]
[SUPREME LAW]
[SUPREME LAW]
.....
"Damn..." was all I could say as I read through the descriptions of what I’d just gotten my hands on.
"Now this is more like it." No big words. Just something I could understand immediately.
Force governed every action involving exertion of strength.
Motion governed movement. All acts of movement. Now what that meant clearly, was still up for debate.
Then Resilience was basically durability’s and endurance’s ancestor.
"Damn..." their descriptions looked simple enough. But I had just experienced what they did first hand. And I still couldn’t believe it.
"So.. if you’re already like this, then what the hell is.."
[PRIMORDIAL]
The primordial concept governing the physical existence of all things. It is the foundation from which Force, Motion, and Resilience are born, defining the very nature and limits of the physical world.
...
...
Silence.
I read it once.
Twice.
Three times. And still..
"What?" My gaze remained locked onto that tag at the beginning.
PRIMORDIAL.
I had only heard that word once. When the old man was telling me about something father had glimpsed into in the past.
How it made him impossible to fight.
Yet, now, I was supposed to believe I have something at that level.
My eyes skimmed through the description once more..
"It is the foundation from which Force, Motion, and Resilience are born, defining the very nature and limits of the physical world."
The more I read that particular sentence, the more the thought refused to leave.
If the concept governed all limits of physicality.
Didn’t that mean I could make my strikes unimaginably stronger?
Or...
unimaginably weaker?
Didn’t that mean I could move as fast as imagination itself?
Become as immovable as a mountain?
Make my body something physical force simply couldn’t overcome?
Or am I still looking at this thing on a very surface level?
I wouldn’t put it past me. With my recent discovery of the deeper mastery of laws, I was sure I hadn’t even scratched the surface yet, so, there was only one thing to do.
Train.
But before that..
"Just where the hell did those guys go?" I finally acknowledged the absence of my cohorts.
"Seems the portal separated us during our entrance..." I gave the issue a few moments of thought before..
"Meh.. I’m sure they’ll be fine.." shrugging the thought away..
POOOF!
A true clone materialized right before me.
"Hey me!"
"Yo!"
"What are we doing?"
"Training. I need to know just how much more ridiculous I’ve become."
"Ohoho! So that’s what I’m feeling. Nice."
Looking at the grinning face of my clone, I suddenly had an itch to punch that annoyingly good looking face.
"I can hear your thoughts."
"Just shut up and square up."
If the best way to understand how powerful I’d become and take back control of my abilities was to hit something. Why not hit something capable of hitting back?
And who better a more fitting opponent than myself?
A grin spread across my face.
"I won’t hold back just because you’re the main body." The clone grinned back.
"I would be disappointed if you did."
Our eyes locked onto each other.
Grins widening in manic glee as..
BOOOOOOOOOOOMM!!!!
The earth imploded.
RUUUMMMMMMBLLLLLEEEEEEEE!!!!!
The word teetered as we collided.
The very skies groaning as they shattered.
Space splintering between and around us.
""HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA"" our manic laughter reverberated through the madness as we collided again.
The world was bound to remember the moment two calamities decided to use it for sparing...
