Chapter 792: Chapter 792 - 315: The Pink Toad_2

When it came to this point, everyone turned their gaze to the Weasley Twins... Those in the know exchanged meaningful glances with Harry.

Yeah, first-year Harry certainly caused a ruckus in the Forbidden Forest.

He had an encounter with Voldemort and finally defeated him with all his might.

"Mr. Fitch, the caretaker, has requested — this is the four hundred and twenty-sixth time — that I remind you all about the rules: no magic in the corridors between classes, among many other rules listed on that long list posted on Mr. Fitch’s office door."

After Dumbledore said this, he paused and glanced around.

"Additionally, as usual, we have changes in our teaching staff this year. I’m very pleased to introduce our new Professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts — none other than Lady Dolores Umbridge!"

Dumbledore continued, "The tryouts for the Hogwarts Quidditch teams will take place—"

However, unlike usual, he abruptly stopped mid-sentence and looked questioningly at Professor Umbridge.

Because she wasn’t much taller standing than sitting, for a moment, no one knew why Professor Dumbledore suddenly stopped talking.

"Oh." Harry could see clearly, being the Seeker, "Seems like our new Professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts doesn’t bring good intentions..."

"No one with good intentions would come to be the Professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts this year." Hermione also whispered.

At this moment, Umbridge suddenly cleared her throat.

Then everyone finally noticed that Professor Umbridge had stood up—

"I wonder." Ron suddenly became very sarcastic, "Can she jump up and hit Malfoy’s knee? I mean, she’s really too short."

"Hard to say." Hermione shook her head, "I think she looks like a pink toad!"

Dumbledore’s shocked expression only lasted a moment, and he quickly reacted by sitting back down.

Unlike Dumbledore, the other professors didn’t remain calm. Professor Snape’s face was as dark as the bottom of a cauldron, and Professor McGonagall... McGonagall’s lips were pressed into a thin line.

She’d never shown such a serious expression, even when faced with the Weasley Twins doing something worthy of docking two hundred points from Gryffindor.

One might say, this was the first time in her years of teaching at Hogwarts that she encountered such a sudden situation — a new professor daring to seize the principal’s speaking privilege during the freshman welcome dinner.

It’s hard to say if it’s boldness or well-preparedness.

None of this was what Professor McGonagall wanted to see.

"Oh, thank you, Principal." Umbridge spoke shrilly, her tone sounding almost like a little girl.

How bloody disgusting, looking like a toad, with a voice like that... Harry felt tonight’s dinner would soon come up.

It would spurt out like Feiliba Fireworks.

As for what was said next, Harry simply didn’t listen.

It was too disgusting, and he was really afraid he’d throw up dinner.

He looked up at Ron, who was turning green and pale, as if he could throw up at any moment.

And even Hermione, who always respected the professors, wasn’t looking good. She seemed ready to pull out her magic wand at any moment and cast an evil curse at Umbridge’s chubby face.

A minor, harmless evil curse.

Just when Harry thought Umbridge should finish and undo the Sealing Spell, Umbridge started speaking again.

Talking about nothing other than the Ministry of Magic, with every sentence somehow linked to it.

"I really can’t stand it." Ron whispered, "How could there be such a repulsive person? Going on and on, doesn’t she know everyone’s time is precious? Merlin’s tricky tea berries, I want to go back for a good sleep."

"Seems she doesn’t realize that." Harry said beside him, "But that doesn’t concern us much, just ignore her... I think those most tormented are probably the professors, look at... Professor Snape’s expression?"

Ron turned his head to glance at Snape.

He found Professor Snape’s face was already beyond dark, looking so gloomy that it seemed like water could drip off it.

"I suspect Professor Snape might secretly give Umbridge some potion tonight, especially one that could make her mute." Hermione whispered.

In a matter of minutes, Umbridge had successfully changed the school’s most respectful students’ name for her from ’Professor Umbridge’ to ’Umbridge’.

That in itself counts as an achievement of sorts.

"I have a premonition." Harry murmured, "I feel that Phineas’ title of ’Most Unpopular Person at Hogwarts’ is soon to be transferred."

"If you put it that way..." Ron thought for a moment, "I think you have a point."

Umbridge was still on stage passionately delivering her official rhetoric.

"... let us continually move forward into a new era that’s open, efficient, and reasonable, resolutely maintaining what should be maintained, improving what needs improvement, and eliminating what we should prohibit."

With that, Umbridge finally sat down.

Dumbledore graciously extended his hand to applaud her, with the other professors following suit.

On hearing applause from the faculty seats, the students realized the annoying new Defence Against the Dark Arts professor had finished her speech.

"Damn it." Ron cursed, "I need to discuss with Fred and George; this year’s prank target should be Umbridge..."

"Not a bad idea." Hermione rolled her eyes, "Provided you’re expecting your twin brothers not to receive their diplomas — or worse, get expelled."

"I don’t think they really need that diploma," Harry chuckled, "Compared to graduating from Hogwarts, they actually want to do things they love —"

"Really?" Hermione asked skeptically.

Is there anyone in this world who doesn’t care about being expelled?

Clearly, they’ve entered the school song phase.

Hogwarts’ wild school song undoubtedly left a strong impression on the freshmen.

Even after being oppressed by Umbridge for so long, the students remained keen on singing.

And Dumbledore was evidently unfazed by Umbridge’s sudden interruption, still directing everyone to sing with his magic wand, right until the Weasley Twins finished the last beat of Hogwarts’ school song using the tune of "Ancestors, Grandfather".

"Ah, music," Dumbledore wiped away tears, "expresses what cannot be put into words yet cannot remain silent."

The meaning behind this statement was a bit deep, but before the students could think too much about it, Dumbledore announced the dismissal of all faculty and students.

Just as Ron was about to leave, Hermione suddenly reminded loudly: "Ronald! We need to take the freshmen back to the common room!"

Only then did Ron realize he had become a Class Prefect.

"Oh, okay!" He shouted, "Hey, everyone! Little ones!"

"Ronald!" Hermione scolded again.

"What?" Ron scratched his head.

"You can’t call them little ones!" Hermione roared like an angry lioness, and after reprimanding Ron, she turned with authority and said: "First-year freshmen! I am the Gryffindor female Class Prefect—follow behind me and this Weasley Prefect, and we’ll lead you back to Gryffindor’s common room!"

"Ha ha, tough luck for you." Harry gloated, patting Ron’s shoulder, "I’ll head back first, see you later!"
