Chapter 784: Chapter 784 - 311: What Is a Surprise? (2)
Upon hearing Vivi’s words, Pabi chuckled lightly.
"Well, I also think that’s something Cassandra would say, wouldn’t she?" she said, smiling sweetly.
Cassandra stood with her arms crossed, gazing out at the azure sea, her pretty face full of frost.
As for the banter between the two sisters, she couldn’t quite handle it with a light heart, but she managed to suppress the urge to retort.
But then again, even if she did retort, she wouldn’t be able to outwit those two.
"About your question," Vivi spoke again, "Recently, the Ministry of Magic has captured quite a few illegally modified Giants, similar to those we encountered in the wild... I suspect, besides Voldemort, some other emerging evil force is on the rise."
Upon hearing about illegally modified Giants, Cassandra’s little ears perked up.
"Could it be..." she squinted her eyes, "Lanlock?"
"I don’t know," Vivi said straightforwardly, "At that time, we only saw Lanlock fall, but we didn’t have the chance to confirm his death... because he disappeared along with Harry."
"Of course," Vivi said again, "I’ll have someone look into this matter, so don’t worry."
"So now we have to deal with not just that bizarre-looking Voldemort, right?" Harry asked, "But also an unknown enemy... So, could these two factions join forces?"
"That’s beyond what we can know, but at their core, Lanlock and Voldemort are quite similar people," Vivi raised her head and said, "They foolishly pursue power that does not belong to them..."
After spending an afternoon on the mountain, Harry and his three girlfriends returned to the hotel.
Vivi returned to Vienna, partly to retrieve the Giants, and partly to handle some backlogged affairs.
Meanwhile, Harry and his company, along with Little Sirius, staked out a piece of land in the mountains and set up a Muggle-Repelling Charm, preparing it as a temporary arena.
A week later, Vivi returned to White Island as promised, and the trials for the young members of the Dueling House formally began.
"I suggest you be ready." Little Sirius, who had long known the contents of their trials, wore a quirky smile, standing on a temporary stand not far away.
Behind him sat the parents of the Dueling House members, some of whom looked worried while others smiled expectantly—like you, Mr. Weasley.
"Don’t worry, Little Sirius." Ron gave two thumbs up, "We’ve been prepared for a long time, ready to face the coming danger!"
"Good, very spirited!" Mr. Bagman, who had arrived unnoticed, began to play the role of the host, "So... alright, alright, we have gathered here to enjoy this wild revelry—they come from Hogwarts, mysterious, dangerous, and a little immature... oh, they’re a group of students!"
Upon saying this, Mr. Bagman turned around and nodded to Little Sirius.
"Entering the arena now," he continued, reassured by Little Sirius’s thumbs up, "Entering the arena now is the amazing... incredible... splendid... uh? What’s this?"
Mr. Bagman looked down in surprise, finding that instead of a Giant, a pig had run out of the gate.
The pig was gleaming with oil, making you hungry for bacon at first glance.
"An oiled pig? I’m starting to question the professionalism of this trial." Mr. Bagman called out, "Alright, if you catch the pig, it’s a win for you in the first match!"
The students of the Dueling House were also stunned, watching the little pig run around aimlessly, with no one understanding why the first trial involved such a creature.
"I guess Harry must be testing our ability to improvise," Hermione speculated, pulling out her wand and pointing at the pig: "Accio Pig!"
However, as the Magic Spell approached the pig, a sudden flash of light from the pig veered the spell off course.
It was as if it hit something slippery.
"Seems like this is indeed a bit tricky," Ron also drew his wand and turned to the others: "Everyone, let’s go together; I refuse to believe we can’t catch this pig!"
Everyone drew their wands, colorful Magic Spells shooting toward the pig.
It seemed that the oil on the pig’s body had a spell-resisting effect. After absorbing more than ten spells, the oil finally disappeared.
Cedric seized the opportunity and hit the little pig with a Floating Spell.
"Wingardium Leviosa!"
The pig was struck by the Floating Spell and floated up, its four hooves helplessly paddling in mid-air, trying to find ground but unable to.
"It seems the potions recently studied by the R&D department do have an effect," Vivi whispered to Harry, "Although this potion... makes one look greasy, I think it should be improved so it wouldn’t be so oily."
"As long as it works," Harry was uninterested in how it looked when applied.
"Let’s try to improve it," Vivi said softly, retracting her Crystal Ball and tapping it a few times on the light screen.
"Hmm..." she said, "I’ve sent the video back to Miss Fari, hoping they will implement my suggested improvements."
"Well done, Cedric!" Ron was not stingy with his praise, clapping loudly.
"Haha, I think it’s because everyone removed the spell-resistant oil layer on it, allowing me to seize the opportunity," Cedric shyly scratched his head and said, "But this thing is quite powerful, able to block spells..."
"I think it’s our spells not being strong enough," Hermione had a different take, "If it were Dumbledore, or Vol...You-Know-Who, they would definitely penetrate the oil and hit the pig directly."
"We shouldn’t compare ourselves to the two of them," Ron spread his hands helplessly, "One is a Dark Lord, the other is the only wizard the Dark Lord fears... We’re in no position to compare with them."
"True enough," Hermione nodded, "That’s why we need to practice diligently."
"Alright."
Mr. Bagman’s voice chimed in at the right time: "Our students have completed the first trial, and next, they will face—well, I think we should keep some mystery, since you’re about to see it soon; it’s better to give you a surprise."
"Mr. Bagman!" Seamus shouted loudly: "What’s the surprise?"
As soon as he finished speaking, the doors swung open with a bang.
A rumbling sound of footsteps followed, seeming to shake the entire ground.
"No way?" Ron said fearfully, placing himself in front of everyone, "What’s that? Sounds big..."
"Could it be a Fire Dragon?" Hermione asked hesitantly.
"No," Ron said confidently, "I know Fire Dragons, and they usually don’t cause such a commotion when walking."
They wouldn’t need to guess for long.
Because the owner of the sound had already reached the door.
It was a Giant, clothed in a layer of red metal armor, thoroughly protecting its vital points; in its hand was a massive wolf fang club, leaving no doubt about the damage it could inflict if it hit someone.
"Bloody hell!" Ron exclaimed in panic: "It’s a Giant! A Giant!"
(Feeling a bit dizzy... ah, painful.)
