When they heard what the Dao Lord of the Four Directions just said, the other four Dao Lords immediately perked up. The usually languid Tepid Scholar was the first to say, "You should go, Black Chains."

Martial Will nodded and said, "It is a good idea."

Heavenly Eye and Sword Mastero also spoke up in support.

Everyone was in support of his idea, but Black Chains was not happy to hear their support. Instead, he laughed and said, "Don’t mind me. I was only joking."

He might be powerful in the higher realm and can make the other eight hide away for fear of encountering him, but once his avatar steps into the Sea of World, it will become easy prey for everyone else.

Now that everyone was eager for him to make a move, he could determine with the intelligence of a dog what they planned to do to him.

Even Martial Will and Tepid Scholar, who are usually opposed, are in agreement about him sending an avatar. Clearly, they didn’t bother to hide their intentions.

With that option dropped, Sword Mastero said impatiently, "Let’s stop wasting time. Let Heavenly Eye go."

As soon as he was done speaking, everyone turned to Heavenly Eye to see her response. Most of them expected her to refuse and were prepared to convince her to go.

But she said, "I’ll go."

This response caught everyone off guard. They all became silent as the words they planned to say now became useless. Only Black Chains still had something to say.

Black Chains said, "Never. She must not go."

He was quick to speak because he was the only one who was unwilling to let her go in the first place. So he didn’t need to think about what to say in response to her agreement. What he had in mind simply dropped out of his lips.

But Heavenly Eye insisted, saying, "I am the best option because I can’t use the Devouring Pathway. And if I kill the dragon, it will prove that I had no hand in helping him."

She had selfish reasons for accepting the nomination to descend to the Sea of Worlds. Actually, she had two selfish reasons. Both of them have to do with Loki.

She wanted to take the things within Loki for herself, and she also had to stop Loki from doing what he was doing. The other Dao Lords didn’t know about these things, but they were sure that she was up to nothing good. They also didn’t have any intention to let her have her way.

Of the four of them, Black Chains was still the first to oppose her. He scoffed before saying, "Is that so?"

"I’ll admit that you make good points. I’ll even go so far as to say your willingness to take on this responsibility is commendable."

Then he said sarcastically, "I’m also sure that there is nothing suspicious about your willingness to take action. The fact that only you are eager to go down must not be suspicious at all."

Martial Will also sneered as he said to Heavenly Eye, "You can forget it."

Sword Mastero said calmly to her, "What are you hiding from us?"

Tepid Scholar was more open-minded. He said, "I can let you go, but you have to swear on your Dao that you’re not hiding anything from us."

In response, she snorted and said, "Of course, I’m hiding something from you. If you want to know what I am hiding, then pay the price. Give me one pathway each."

Then she asked, saying, "If not me, who else do you want to send?"

Her question got all of them thinking. They had to think about who else they were comfortable with sending.

The reality of the situation was that they didn’t trust each other. Some of them wanted to go down and get the Devouring Pathway. But the others wanted to kill the ones willing to go down.

Dao Lords can’t use any pathway. A pathway must be compatible with their current pathways, and they must find a way to make the compatible pathway work together with their current pathways before they can use any more pathways.

Of the five of them, Martial Will, Tepid Scholar, and Sword Mastero are most compatible with the Devouring Pathway. Black Chains and Heavenly Eye are not compatible with the Devouring Pathway.

Because of this divide, Black Chains will never agree to let Martial Will, Tepid Scholar, or Sword Mastero descend into the Sea of Worlds and become stronger. If they dare to do descend, he will surely attack them.

Black Chains would prefer to have the Devouring Pathway so that no one can use it. Everyone else is also willing to let him have the Devouring Pathway as long as it will get him to descend. Unfortunately, he is not willing to risk any of his five pathways just to get something he can’t use.

The only person that Black Chains is barely willing to have the Devouring Pathway is Heavenly Eye. Unfortunately, he thinks she is shady and untrustworthy.

So after thinking about it, Black Chains said, "I would rather the dragon be free than to let you anywhere near the dragon."

In response, Heavenly Eye frowned and said, "What if it destroys the Blessed Heaven World? All the years of effort will go to waste."

But Black Chains refused to change his mind. He said, "When he starts destroying the Blessed Heaven World, I’ll consider it. Until then, you can forget about it."

He wasn’t the only one who had this opinion. They all believed that the dragon needed to be destroyed. But either they didn’t want to do it, or they were not willing to let someone else do it.

This frustrated Heavenly Eye, who raised her voice and said, "You fools. We can’t continue to bicker like this, or it will be too late to take action later on."

Most of them ignored her or sneered in disdain. But Tepid Scholar said, "If you tell us what you’re hiding, we can think about it."
