Chapter 1529: Chapter 1529: Taking stock
"So the ones that you recruited, how good are they?"
Lin Fan didn’t hold back at all as he bluntly asked Han Ba this question.
But it wasn’t as if Han Ba minded this since with his personality, this was how he liked doing things as well.
It was just that Han Ba didn’t seem to have any enthusiasm towards the people that he recruited.
Lin Fan already knew that this would be the case since he had a rough idea of their level with the illusion that he used. If they fell for this illusion, it was easy for him to figure out just how strong they really were.
Even so, they were still needed for the new faction that they were making.
Even if they were weak, they still held influence as core disciples of the Heavenly Demon Sect.
"So who is supporting them?"
This time, Han Ba was more enthusiastic with his answer. It was almost as if he had been preparing this for a long time, so he was able to give this answer with precise details.
As he listened, Lin Fan couldn’t help finding all of this strange.
After all, he knew that Han Ba wasn’t that kind of person in the first place.
This wasn’t Lin Fan looking down on Han Ba’s intelligence, but rather him being aware of what kind of personality Han Ba had.
So it was better to say that Han Ba just didn’t have the patience to do something like this.
"It’s not something that I prepared." Han Ba already knew what Lin Fan was thinking based on the expression on his face. However, it wasn’t as if Han Ba was insulted by this since he knew that it was the truth.
This was something about him, so how could he not be aware of this.
Rather, he simply explained who the one that prepared everything was.
"So you think that you can trust her with all the paperwork for the faction?" Lin Fan asked with one brow raised as he looked at the one that Han Ba introduced.
Han Ba just said with a simple nod, "Even someone as uncultured as me can recognize her abilities, so there’s no reason why we can’t leave it to her."
Lin Fan had to admit that he was a bit surprised that Han Ba would endorse someone like this.
After all, it was rare for Han Ba to have this kind of opinion about someone else. Especially considering that this person didn’t really have any powerful combat abilities and was considered average among the core disciples.
For him to actually acknowledge her like this, it meant that her management skills really were on a completely different level.
"So you like her?" Lin Fan asked all of a sudden.
"What..." Han Ba was completely caught off guard by the words Lin Fan said.
But instead of denying it right away, there was a blush that appeared on his face.
Lin Fan had only had a suspicion that this was the case, but now that Han Ba had this kind of reaction to his words...
"Wow, so that’s the type of woman you like." Lin Fan couldn’t help shaking his head with a faint smile.
Han Ba didn’t say anything at first, but then he said, "It’s not the type of woman, it’s just her."
Lin Fan was once again caught off guard hearing this from Han Ba, but he didn’t ask anything else. Though he was interested, it seemed like this was something personal for Han Ba.
Not to mention that if he kept asking questions, it would be a bit rude since he would be questioning the tastes that Han Ba had.
Instead, Lin Fan just took another look at this Diao Xin Yue that Han Ba was interested in.
In the end, he said with a sigh, "Her cultivation level is a bit low and her techniques are a bit weak. Since she’ll be taking the position of manager for the faction, should we help her a bit?"
Han Ba seemed a bit conflicted this time, but he shook his head in the end as he said, "I’ll do it myself."
Lin Fan raised a brow to look at him before shaking his head with another smile and patting Han Ba on the shoulder.
Changing the topic, he asked, "Other than her, who else should we raise?"
Though Han Ba had already given a detailed report on the faction, he didn’t care about this. What he was really asking was who Han Ba thought was worthy of them raising for their faction.
After all, factions like this weren’t as tight as one could imagine.
There were plenty that only joined a faction because they thought that it would provide a form of protection for them. Once they found something better, they would move onto that something better.
So in this case, what mattered more was who Han Ba thought he could trust.
Han Ba didn’t answer right away as he looked at the Heavenly Demon Sect disciples he had recruited.
Even Han Ba knew that they weren’t trustworthy, which was why he had hid plenty of things from them.
But even so, Han Ba knew that they needed people that they could use for certain matters. That was why he had been keeping his eyes on the ones that he had recruited to see if there was anyone that he liked.
"There’s only two so far, but we’ll see in the future." Han Ba said after a long moment of silence.
Lin Fan wasn’t surprised that there would only be two of them.
When it came to sects like this, many people only joined because they wanted benefits. Especially since the sect that they came from was a demonic sect in the first place.
It was hard to expect them to be loyal even to the sect itself, let alone a faction.
But it wasn’t as if there weren’t people like that at all.
"I’ll leave it to you." Lin Fan said with another pat of Han Ba’s shoulder.
Hearing this, there was a wry look that appeared on Han Ba’s face. He turned to look at Lin Fan as if he was saying, "So you’re not going to bother managing the faction at all?"
Lin Fan just looked back at him as if he was saying, "It’s more beneficial this way."
It wasn’t as if Han Ba doubted this since he had already seen how close Lin Fan was to Ye Qing Huan. The fact that he was close to Ye Qing Huan was already a sign that he was destined for far greater things.
After all, Ye Qing Huan was the younger sister of the future sect master of the Heavenly Demon Sect, Ye Tian Xie. The things that she would be in charge of in the future would go far beyond just a single faction of disciples.
Han Ba even had his suspicions that Lin Fan was being raised as a supporter for Ye Tian Xie in the future.
Then something like this really was beneath Lin Fan.
In fact, the idea for all of this was something that Ye Qing Huan had given him earlier.
It was almost as if she was already setting everything up for Lin Fan so he wouldn’t have to worry about this in the future. It was as if she was already planning his future for him.
That just made Han Ba even more certain of this speculation.
With a sigh, Han Ba said, "It seems like your future won’t be easy."
A confused look appeared on Lin Fan’s face before it changed to a complicated look.
He didn’t know why Han Ba said something like this all of a sudden, but he could tell that it wasn’t simple. It seemed like there was something that Han Ba wasn’t telling him if he was saying something like this.
But before Lin Fan could ask anything else, Ye Qing Huan suddenly came over and said, "Do you want to share anything else with them?"
Lin Fan couldn’t help looking at Ye Qing Huan with a strange look.
After all, he felt that she had done this on purpose, as if she didn’t want him to ask anything else.
But he didn’t understand why she would do something like this...
When he looked at Han Ba, he could see that Han Ba even awkwardly looked away as if he didn’t want any part of this.
So in the end, Lin Fan just thought about it before saying, "Let them train in the training hall, that should help them become stronger."
Ye Qing Huan gave a nod before saying to Han Ba, "Bring the ones that you trust over later and I’ll take you there."
Ye Qing Huan was the one that had control over the training hall, so it was only natural that she would be the one that took them over and set them up.
It was just that Han Ba knew that her words weren’t that simple.
He could even feel a chill running down his spine after she said this.
It wasn’t as if he didn’t know why she was acting this way, he even knew that it was his own fault for causing her to act this way.
If he hadn’t said so much, then she wouldn’t have had to do this.
So in the end, he was just suffering the consequences of his own actions.
It wasn’t as if Lin Fan didn’t notice that there was something strange, it was just that he knew that Ye Qing Huan wouldn’t go too far.
So in the end, despite the look from Han Ba, he said, "I’ll leave it to you."
