Chapter 2157: Chapter 2157: The Talents of Magic
Liliana was already sweating. She knew well how powerful those three are, and to have them all in the same place at once, a disaster could be inevitable. Yog, Betty, and Merlin. The big three of pure power, talent, and dedication.
Yog’s power was her nature as the goddess of magic, allowing her full access to all spells and mana. Unlike everyone else, she knows all, can do all, and is a true deity with power over the very power that everyone relies on.
Betty, on the other hand, was born a halfling, already boasting massive talent for magic and enormous mana. But then, she also had the draconic bloodline of her grandmother, Luminous. That had set her up with both the talent and lifespan to master magic and slowly turn herself into an unmatched wizard.
Unlike those two, Merlin was born with talent, but with a crumbling High human body. She was sick, dying, unable to even support herself. Many who are born like her just die, having never achieved anything. But she wanted to live, survive, and so, she mastered magic to keep herself alive, spending decades dedicating herself to the study of magic.
"You came to check on me?" Merlin glared at Yog, who sat on Liliana’s shoulders, waving her bare feet around. Instead of a clear reply, she only got a smug grin back. "I just wanted to see how stable you are. I have to admit that girl Doma is quite scary. As expected of a descendant of my own clones."
Yog, over the thousands of years, had created thousands of clones of herself, which acted both like an army and spare bodies. Sometimes, she would pick the defective ones that couldn’t fully endure her output, and then set them free in different worlds to live their lives. Doma’s bloodlines trace all the way back to one of those failed clones, which was what gave her a bit of an edge when it came to magic.
"She has no body anymore." Merlin shrugged. "Her power is her own, not linked in any way to your blood." As she waved a hand, Yog laughed. "Oh, it is linked. Doma’s clairvoyance is a broken fragment of my forbidden knowledge. She can see the future, and the futures that won’t come. A mere mortal, no matter how powerful and talented, won’t be able to endure the full force of that though."
From Merlin’s ears, a flowing black tar rushed out and took shape. "That laugh never ceases to disgust me. Laughing Tornado, Lilia Bodhimicah." The black tar growled as it grew larger and took a vague humanoid shape.
A tall, pale elvish body, large hips and chest, long arms and sharp fingernails. Her eyes were blue and held a burning pink flame in them. Her hair was silky smooth and bright pink in color, but it looked more ethereal than real, making Doma look more like a ghost than a living being. As her body formed, the remaining tar clung to her flesh like clothes, and she glared directly at Yog. She was there and listening all the time. "I already know that. It is true that I can’t see the future as someone would expect. It is just shattered fragments and whispers."
Forget Betty and Merlin; Doma Python was on a whole other level. She far outclassed the two in mana combined, and Liliana could bet that Doma, who lived longer, had also surpassed them in skill.
Seeing Doma appear out of nowhere, Liliana already didn’t want to be here anymore. This was the Queen of Curses, a witch who had terrorized entire kingdoms all on her own. A powerhouse that couldn’t be resisted or kept in check. Why do Arad and Gojo always attract those monsters?
Looking down at herself, she was half-demon but relatively normal compared to those monsters. This had reached a point where Liliana wasn’t afraid of Arad anymore; she was more terrified of his harem. Compared to them, he looked outright harmless. What do you mean the Queen of Curses is your wife? What do you mean the ancient witch of disaster is hiding inside the head of your other scary, abominable wizard wife? What about the short halfling that can move at light speed and has questionable morals?
"Yet, you won’t be as powerful without it. Knowing the future, even a tiny fragment, is a great advantage. Not just in fights, but in politics and survival. It is the reason no one was ever able to catch or defeat you."
Yog stood on Liliana’s shoulders, and then stepped on her head. She cracked her neck and then started floating in the air before she began spinning upside down while laughing.
Yog wasn’t going to explain anything to the women in front of her, but she knew that Doma’s clairvoyance was far more important than even Doma realizes. The reason she sought Arad wasn’t just love, interest, or anything else. If Doma had wished, and had spent a hundred years working on it, she might’ve already created a body for herself on her own, or even found a way to overtake other people’s bodies like a living curse.
The reason her own subconscious mind was preventing her from going all out on research and finding a body is that she doesn’t really want one. She is more comfortable not having one, and would rather be a part of Arad’s mind instead. She is a part of AO’s great mind, and has now found him.
"Just knowing a part of the future doesn’t mean you’ll be able to change it." Doma took a step forward, and her feet burned the stone roof of the castle. The entire world around her seemed to crack and crumble as Liliana could only see her as a mass of swirling darkness.
"Yog." Doma spoke, and the wind stopped blowing; the cold air felt burning hot, and Gug could feel immense danger coming out of Queen of Curses. That wasn’t mere bloodlust or intimidation, but the sheer terror of nature itself. To Gug, Doma didn’t feel like a person or something that could be fought, and was more like a natural disaster.
"The Fates are stubborn."
Hearing that, Yog jumped forward and started walking toward Doma, and she too looked far too alien and horrifying. A pure mass of darkness and glowing red eyes, watching, counting, and whispering. "You are right. They hate change, and those who play outside their hands."
Yog smiled as she turned her face up to look at the tall Doma. Her eyes were burning dark blue; the gem on her forehead had turned into a third eye, and her hair had turned into a flowing stream of pure red eyes and black tar. "But Doma, my little girl. They are right. The universe is such a complicated piece of machinery, and no one knows how to fix it. It is better to keep it flowing as it was; that way it has fewer chances of complications."
Doma’s tattoos started burning with curses as her eyes flashed pink, and she looked down at Yog with a sadistic grin. "I already know that. I’m a tiny, insignificant piece of dust. I could have no effect at all, but I could also be the one flake of dust that ruins everything."
At that moment, both Merlin and Betty appeared standing there as well. "You two, stop it. You’re scaring Liliana and Gug." Betty spoke, and Merlin sighed. "Yeah, we’re here to work, not argue."
