Chapter 2149: Chapter 2149: Deadly Race I
As the meeting ended and Neil left, Alcott walked out of the guest room on his own, seeking to find the weapon shops of this city. A huge part of his strength was his arsenal, and so he was always on the lookout for new and exotic weapons and items. He didn’t care if it was a deadly sword or a spoon that automatically cools soup; he wanted one. The more he shoved into his magic bag, the more tools he would have to solve any future problem.
As Alcott approached one of the guards to ask him about the local weapon shops and blacksmiths, Gojo teleported in. "Did the meeting end?" As he asked, the guard knelt down, and Alcott turned around. "Yeah, it did. How is Arad?"
"Stable enough, he is conscious and healthy, but controlling his power and magic is harder than before, so he would be a deadly hazard to bring him here." He looked out of the window toward the moon.
"There he won’t harm anyone. The Moon rabbits are on the other side as well." Arad was now on the moon, resting under the watchful eye of his mother, Violet. Gravity, radiation, magic, draconic presence, and several folds of deadly blood and psychic magic. In his current state, he is a monster that could wipe life from an entire kingdom just by existing.
"So... damaging his human soul didn’t weaken him." Alcott smiled, and Gojo nodded. "That is the case. We dragons can lower our power down to a human level; that’s why I can walk here without shattering the ground or breaking anything I touch. That is what we call the lowest output state. Damaging Arad’s human soul raised that bare minimum to his draconic level."
Gojo walked past the terrified guard and faced Alcott. "In short, he can’t take a human form and can’t hold back any of his power." He then looked around. "Were you looking to ask him something?" He pointed at the guard, and Alcott smiled.
"I’m looking to go shopping a bit for weapons, tools, and magical items. Anything unique enough is worth adding to my collection." From his tiny magic bag, he pulled a scimitar with a cat-shaped handle. "This one is called the Meowpurr; it’s a magical weapon that deals extra damage to cats. Do you know what the interesting part is? It works on all cat-like beast people as well, so it’s worth pulling out in such fights." As Alcott swung the sword, it meowed.
Gojo could just imagine all kinds of things Alcott must have stashed in that magical bag.
"Where did you even find such a thing?" As Gojo sighed, Alcott pulled a long black dagger. "This one is called the divine dagger of the volcanic dragon priest. As the name suggests, it belonged to a demi-god priest who served a fire dragon that lived in a mountain, and it was the weapon that priest used to backstab the dragon and kill him. It deals extra backstab damage to red dragons if you’re near a volcano."
"Too specific to be useful." Gojo shook his head, and Alcott smiled. "You say that, but I used it to start fights with red dragons a total of ten times. It’s a great opening weapon, and since the wings are on their back, I can sneak in and stab the nerves to disable those wings."
Alcott started walking, and Gojo followed him. "That is why I’m looking for new weapons." He looked back at his son with a smile. "Do you know any good shops or blacksmiths?"
Gojo scratched the back of his head. "Well, there are a few around here, but they mostly sell what is bought from other towns. Charcoal is precious here... but there is one blacksmith whose work can foot the bill."
The two of them headed right to Alfred’s shop, and it didn’t take the two monsters long to reach it. Alcott was about to walk there, but Gojo wanted to teleport quickly with Void Step, and since even now Alcott still doesn’t like teleportation magic that much, he wanted to just go there on his own two legs. So, the two of them ended up choosing to run there.
When the two started moving, the guard froze in place from fear. Gojo flew at blinding speed through the hallways, and Alcott was just behind him. A maid was sweeping the floor at the end of the hallway, and she was almost thrown to the ground when the two flew past her like two loud, speeding motorcycles.
Gojo slid beneath the guards standing at the main gate of the main keep, and Alcott jumped out of the window. The soldiers standing there barely noticed them until the shockwave hit, and everyone panicked, seeing the two jump over the entire yard into the castle’s walls.
As Gojo and Alcott landed beside the ballistae, Alcott gave Gojo a smug smile. "You’re pretty fast." And Gojo laughed, "I’m not even trying. Do you think a human can match a dragon? It will never happen, father. You might be a dragon slayer, but in your job, you mainly deal with the chromatic and metallic dragons, not creatures like me."
Alcott shrugged. "Just chromatic and metallic? Why don’t you ask your mother about that?" He looked at Gojo with a smug smile. "What do you say? Can I catch and tie you down before we reach that Blacksmith?" He then looked at the city. "Where is it anyway?"
Gojo pointed, "Let’s play then. It’s over the plaza, beside that huge building with the red roof..." But at that moment, he blinked, and what he found out was that both of his legs were already tied together with black chains. "When did you!?"
"I started tying you before I even asked. I know you well, so I knew you’d accept. And those chains can severely weaken dragons. A cult had created them to summon and chain down Tiamat, and they worked to weaken her for a bit."
Gojo tried to break the chain, and he couldn’t. But that wasn’t all. All of his draconic powers were rapidly fading away. "Those are some pretty powerful magical items... but they aren’t perfect. They can only seal powerful dragons for a short time." He gave Alcott a smile. "And I can still use magic..."
But when he looked at Alcott, the man was already wearing an Anti-magic cloak, chugging several potions. "Who do you think cleaned their mess when Tiamat broke those chains and went on a rampage?"
Alcott’s werewolf and vampiric blood started flowing like a raging torrent through his veins, and he could feel all of his muscles tensing. "And now, I’m even stronger than before thanks to my curses."
