Chapter 2083: Chapter 2083: I Came Alone
Grey reiterated, "I said the encirclement has been dealt with."
"Oh alright, your excellency. Where are the others?" Lady Selena asked, she had sent out her mental sense to try to find those that came with Grey, but she could not find them outside, so she thought to ask Grey.
"I came alone." Grey replied with an indifferent look.
Kirk cleaned his ears and asked with wide eyes, "Did he just say he came alone?" After getting a nod from the person closest to him, he continued, "So how come he’s also saying the encirclement has been dealt with?"
The person that gave him the nod a few seconds ago did not reply to this question as he did not know how to respond to it. It was quite unbelievable that a single person was sent here to rescue them. A few of them could not help but feel like their superiors did not value their lives and left them for death.
Kirk, not getting a reply from anyone, gave Lady Selena a look of inquiry, only to see her shaking her head, indicating she did not know what was going on.
Lady Selena knew Grey Dawson, she had heard of how he’s praised as the number one of his generation. It was even said that there has not been a talent like Grey Dawson over the past few thousand years. That was high praise, and it came from most of the top experts of the world. For this reason she believed he was surely stronger than the average person in the same cultivation stage, but saying he handled an entire army of a few hundred people which also had a Ninth stage Sovereign and multiple Eighth stage Sovereigns was a stretch.
She tried to probe Grey’s cultivation, and to her shock, he was a Ninth stage Sovereign.
"How’s that possible?!" She exclaimed in amazement. She still recalled when Klaus first joined the Faction, it was only around a decade or two now, and at the time he was only in the Overlord Plane, the same as Grey. At the time she was already in the Sovereign Plane.
In the short few years, Grey had not only catched up to her, but he had flown past her. She also knew that Klaus was not too far behind Grey as well.
The surprised reaction of Lady Selena drew the attention of the others. Some of them also probed Grey’s cultivation, but did not have the same reaction as her.
Grey, feeling uncomfortable with the stares he was getting asked impatiently, "Are you leaving or not? I have things to attend to and I’ve already taken up more time than I expected."
Lady Selena snapped out of her dazed state and nodded absentmindedly, "Yes, we will leave with you."
Kirk stepped forward and leaned closer to Lady Selena, lamenting, "What about the Gnomes. Wouldn’t we be submitting our lives to them if we go out like this?"
"Since he says the Gnomes have been dealt with, then I believe him." Lady Selena replied.
Kirk showed visible irritation at Lady Selena just agreeing to this without taking further precautions. He pressured, "You were the one who told us to keep our energy for a tough battle. How come you believe him so easily?
"That’s Grey Dawson, the son of Lord Lucas, do you think Lord Lucas would send his only son to his death just to save you?" Lady Selena asked icily.
"Lord Lucas’s son? The one the Gnomes placed a bounty on his head for years now?" Kirk asked in shock. Almost everyone knew about the bounty placed on Grey’s head. It had only been a few years, and at the time the bounty was first placed, Grey should only be a Sage Plane Elementalist at the time. When he realized how quickly the youth had grown in strength, he became green with envy. The person before him was a Ninth stage Sovereign, an expert he could only look up to. Who would have thought that just a few years ago, he could kill that same person with just a flick of his wrist.
The group followed Grey outside the abandoned building, all tense as if they were going into a warzone.
After coming out from the building, they looked around and did not see any signs of Gnomes attacking. Some of them gave Grey a glance as they thought about what he said. They all took to the sky and flew in the particular direction.
The direction they were heading past was the forest where the battle took place.
On the way to the forest, the scouts recalled one of the Gnomes’ camp sites. When they arrived at the abandoned town, they did not find a single living being there. There were also no traces of a battle, which made all of them think of almost the same thing... the Gnomes left on their own.
This was the only meaning they could think of behind the Gnomes not being present here. It only took a few minutes before their expressions started to change. The destruction caused by the battle between Grey and the Gnomes were still pretty evident for them to see, along with the strong smell of blood that was still in the air.
Lady Selena, who was flying behind Grey, looked at the mess the forest had been reduced to and then at Grey’s back.
’Did he really fight them all alone? Or did they escape?’
There was no way for them to confirm this, and Grey was not going to try to prove anything to them.
They flew for almost five hours nonstop, and after getting to a particular spot, Grey made them stop at a city that used to be well crowded but now empty.
He took out his map and after observing, gave a nod and told Lady Selena and her squad not to disturb him as he walked around the city.
Lady Selena and her squad did as told, and a few hours later, they found Grey at an open space, bent down drawing different patterns on the ground.
"What’s he doing?" One of them asked Lady Selena.
"I heard he can make teleportation arrays. If I’m not wrong, that should be what he’s doing."
