Chapter 311: Chapter 311: The Matter of Renovation
"Of course. Eat up. The more you eat, the more it shows you love Daddy."
"Hehe, Tongtong loves eating veggies!"
Jiang Liu had successfully bamboozled his daughter.
Jun Qingmeng watched Jiang Liu with a smile in her eyes.
She wanted to watch her husband a little longer before leaving for the kindergarten.
Six-fifty.
The two of them doted on Jiang Liu for a little while longer before holding hands and reluctantly heading out the door.
Jiang Liu had made an extra three hundred buns today.
The shop opened at seven o’clock sharp.
The customers at the front of the line were like wild horses that had broken their reins, stampeding excitedly into the shop.
The first in line was a barber. With dark circles under his eyes, he asked, "Boss Jiang, anything new on the menu today?"
Jiang Liu shook his head. "No."
"Then I’ll take fifteen buns, a bottle of juice, and a portion of ham."
"Morning, Brother Jiang! Hey, why does it smell like sautéed mushrooms in here? You got any left? Can you sell me a plate?"
"I just made a little for myself. It’s all gone."
"Ah, okay. Got my hopes up for nothing. I thought you’d come out with a new dish."
"Little Boss Jiang, I’ll have a portion of ham and a bottle of beer! I finally made it to the front today. It’s so hard to get your food these days, but I can’t live without it. I mean, come on!"
Huang Yunfeng said cheerfully, "Boss Jiang, thanks for your hard work! I’ll get a takeout order of yak meat, ten shrimp buns, and five three-delicacy buns!"
Thanks to Jiang Liu’s food, all he had to do now was queue up for President Wang every day, and he still collected a manager’s salary each month. Life couldn’t be sweeter.
For this turn of events in his life, Huang Yunfeng was incredibly grateful to Jiang Liu.
Jiang Liu grinned and teased, "For Wang Han again, huh?"
"Yup. Her whole family loves your food. You wouldn’t believe it, but now the execs from our site sneak over to buy your food whenever they get a free moment. But the line’s always too long, so they can never get anything, haha."
Thinking about the renovations for his own storefront, Jiang Liu then asked, "Brother Huang, do you happen to know any renovation companies? I’m looking to renovate the storefront next door."
"Renovations? Boss Jiang, you bought the place next door?!"
Huang Yunfeng’s eyes widened, and he nodded eagerly. "I do, I do! I’ll ask around when I get back and then get in touch with you, how does that sound?"
’The Yi City Group’s board of directors has mentioned Boss Jiang many times; I’ve heard the rumors. If I bring back the good news that Boss Jiang needs a renovation crew, they’ll be ecstatic, right?’
’Who wouldn’t want to get on the good side of a boss who can make food this delicious?’
Jiang Liu smiled. "Then I’ll have to trouble you, Brother Huang."
"No trouble at all! It’s a small thing, haha."
Jiang Liu threw in ten extra buns for him.
Huang Yunfeng insisted on paying for them. Just being able to buy ten extra was a huge bonus; if he didn’t pay, President Wang would definitely be angry when he got back.
He knew President Wang was interested in Jiang Liu.
Carrying the food, Huang Yunfeng hopped into his little Alto and immediately called Wang Han.
Wang Han’s voice was a bit languid, as if she hadn’t woken up yet. "You got the food? I’m heading to the site at eight-thirty. Just put it somewhere safe for now, and don’t let those vultures get their hands on it."
Huang Yunfeng ignored her instructions and said excitedly, "President Wang, I have great news! Boss Jiang needs a renovation crew. He bought the storefront next door—looks like he’s expanding."
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line.
Wang Han was wide awake now. "I understand. Head back to the site. I’ll take care of this for Jiang Liu."
Wang Han hung up, threw on some clothes, and rushed to the construction site.
She was indeed interested in Jiang Liu. But beyond that, she also saw him as an extremely valuable asset, which was why she took him so seriously.
Zhong Lin and Zhong Youming finally made it inside the shop.
"Boss Jiang?"
"Hmm?" Jiang Liu looked quizzically at the unfamiliar customers. "What can I get for you two?"
Zhong Lin’s eyes went wide, practically sparkling with hearts. She discovered that Boss Jiang was even more handsome up close.
’He’s so tall and well-built—he gives off such a sense of security! His skin is clear and flawless, and his features are so well-defined. He’s literally the boyfriend of my dreams!’
Zhong Youming said, "Excuse me, Boss Jiang. We’ll have an order of the yak, potato, and mushroom soup, an order of tuna, a glass of juice, a bottle of beer, and... thirty buns. Any filling is fine."
"Alright. Find a seat first. I’ll call you when it’s ready, and you can come pick it up. I’m pretty busy, so I probably won’t have time to bring it over."
"Of course," Zhong Youming said with a polite smile.
’He was curious, though, about what Boss Jiang’s other dishes tasted like. He wondered if they would seem mediocre compared to the buns.’
As they spoke, they found a table and sat down.
Zhong Lin watched the crowd queuing at the door with excitement. "There are so many people, Youming!"
"Can you please not call me by my name?"
Zhong Youming shot his daughter an angry glare. She was always so carefree and particularly rebellious.
"Tch. It’s not like anyone here knows you. Hmm... but if you really want me to stop calling you Youming, you have to get Boss Jiang’s WeChat for me!"
Zhong Lin’s ulterior motive was finally revealed. Jiang Liu was just too handsome; she didn’t dare ask him herself. Just looking at him made her blush and her heart pound.
Zhong Youming was sick with anger.
"If you want it, go ask for it yourself! You’re not even in college yet and you’re already thinking about dating? I’m telling your mother when we get home, and she can set you straight!"
"Haha, the only thing you know how to do is get Mom to back you up."
As the two of them bickered, a couple of minutes passed before Jiang Liu called out for number 45.
Zhong Youming hurried over to carry the dishes to their table.
"Wow! This beef smells amazing."
Zhong Lin leaned in to smell the yak, potato, and mushroom soup. A rich, savory beef aroma washed over her, mingled with the sweet scent of potatoes. Just a whiff was enough to make her ravenous.
The surface of the soup was garnished with a sprinkle of vibrant green scallions. The rising steam carried their fresh, fragrant aroma with it.
The yak, potato, and mushroom soup, which had previously been served in a simple dish, was now presented in a large, basin-like bowl.
Zhong Youming’s eyes were fixed on the tuna, its red flesh marbled with white fat. He eagerly took a bite, and his calm expression slowly morphed into one of utter disbelief.
Shock.
The fatty belly meat melted the moment it entered his mouth. It was smooth, almost buttery, and the fish’s natural flavor continuously stimulated his taste buds.
’This was totally worth it!’
He excitedly pointed at the sashimi on the plate with his chopsticks. "This tuna is incredible! It’s so good. Quick, try some."
Skeptically, Zhong Lin tried a slice and was instantly conquered by the tender, smooth texture of the lean tuna!
"Oh my god, this is so, so good!"
"Wow, the beef smells incredible! Dad, you have to try this beef and potatoes! The meat is stewed so tender it falls apart. It’s so fragrant, and there’s no gamey taste at all!"
"Slow down... and leave the soup. You’re still young; let your old dad have some to... build up his strength!"
Zhong Youming took a sip of the soup, a warmth spreading through his stomach. The beef flavor was incredibly rich—’He definitely used bone marrow,’ he thought—and there was even a faint, milky aroma.
Both of them were secretly astounded by Boss Jiang’s culinary skills.
’To think that the buns they’d had before were actually the most ordinary item on the menu... It was surreal!’
To think a little food stall like this actually existed somewhere in the world.
After taking a sip of the sweet and tart orange juice, Zhong Lin let out a delicate burp. "This is a hundred times better than bubble tea. If only Boss Jiang opened a shop in our Kun City, I’d have to go see him every single day."
Zhong Youming sighed regretfully. "I already asked. Boss Jiang said he has no plans for that at the moment."
