Chapter 382: Chapter 382 - 205: Level 1 Prophet (2)

Lu Cang had already mastered Future Studies and Destiny Science.

The three disciplines were related to each other, but while Destiny Science and Future Studies had Low Tier textbooks, only these two volumes were available for Chronology.

But thankfully, the theories within just these two books were substantial enough.

Sufficient to deduce many meaningful things.

Although it was difficult to comprehend the entirety of both books, there was no issue using them as reference texts for Chronology.

"Time is not absolute."

"Destiny is divided into True Destiny and visible destiny."

"The future of Time is not necessarily the Future."

"Time is not continuous."

...

Future Studies, Destiny Science, and Chronology were used to reason about one another.

One bizarre theory after another was derived.

Some theories even completely contradicted the common sense of his past life.

Sometimes, possessing knowledge from a past life might be a good thing, allowing him to view problems from more angles.

But at other times, that same knowledge could be misleading in this world.

For example, he would subconsciously assume that theorems of impulse, force, and kinetic energy were applicable in this world.

But in reality, they were completely different.

Much of the fundamental common sense from his past life had to be changed for this one.

However, some things remained entirely unchanged.

For instance, objects of different masses in free fall would still land at the same time...

Although the relationship between force and Acceleration was different, the results of some things were the same. What’s more interesting was that different schools of thought had their own explanations for these theories. One could even find different interpretations in Magic and Life Science that fit their respective schools.

But upon closer inspection, they all felt plausible in their own right.

"Here, let me do these."

Lu Cang took the draft paper Yuna was writing on with her right hand.

Yuna paused for a moment, but still let Lu Cang take it.

This was how they usually conducted their research together: Yuna analyzed the line of thought, while Lu Cang was mainly responsible for verification and calculation.

Lu Cang was a Decryption Scholar and was exceptionally good at this sort of thing.

Yuna, on the other hand, was a Scholar, exceptionally skilled at divergent thinking, making associations, and connecting ideas from different disciplines.

The month of knowledge and wisdom.

Every thought flowed with extreme clarity.

Problems that were normally obscure and difficult could now be solved with just a few glances.

Lu Cang wrote down the answers one by one as he thought of them.

He would pass them to Yuna, who would then form new lines of thought based on his answers, propose new conjectures, and hand them back to Lu Cang to solve.

Yuna had been a little moody at first, but as she grew more absorbed, her little feet began to prop up, and she started explaining her thought process to Lu Cang, sharing her brilliant conjectures on the ultimate deduction of Time.

’She’s actually pretty easy to please.’

The ice mountain Yuna had lasted for less than twenty minutes before melting away.

Time flowed by quietly.

There hadn’t been much time left on the 1st to begin with, and when immersed in research, the flow of time felt absurdly fast.

When he came to his senses, it was already past midnight.

Pulling an all-nighter to study a topic was already a daily routine for the White Tower Scholars.

However, as midnight passed today, Lu Cang could feel the fanatical fervor that had permeated the entire White Tower recede like a tide.

Inspiration plummeted, and his thoughts grew dull.

Even though he hadn’t lost his Spirituality, Lu Cang still felt his thinking become sluggish.

An answer he could have gotten with a single glance just moments ago now seemed like trying to type numbers in a dream—no matter what, he kept getting it wrong. A wave of irritation and anxiety washed over him.

Fortunately, his Spirituality was already extremely high.

Lu Cang took a deep breath and slowly closed his eyes, composing his mood and thoughts. The feeling of unease and agitation from his dulled mind gradually subsided.

’As expected... to gain something and then lose it is often harder to accept than never having had it at all.’

’I absolutely cannot lose my Spirituality. That would be far too painful.’

Lu Cang reopened his eyes, which had regained their reserved clarity. Beside him, Yuna was pressing a hand to her chest, looking as though a weight had been lifted.

Lu Cang smiled faintly. "Good thing we solved it at the last moment."

Yuna nodded lightly, relieved. "Yeah."

In the final moment before midnight, the two finally completed their research on the current theories, integrating the principles of Chronology into a complete collection.

With that, their attainments in Chronology could be considered to have reached a proficient level, entering the realm of mastery.

As for what level of learning could be considered mastery...

It was probably when one could explain one or more fundamental theories of a discipline and knew the dozens of branching variations that extended from them.

"Yuna."

"Hm?"

Yuna was leaning back in her chair, gazing at the ceiling of the White Tower.

Her mind was completely empty.

She had entered a state of total blankness. After studying this complex theory for so long, she felt completely drained.

"Thank you."

Hearing Lu Cang’s thanks, Yuna turned her face away, avoiding his gaze.

She replied in a tiny voice, "It’s... it’s not like I did it for you."

"You found such a precious text... I-I was also very interested. It would be a shame not to study it thoroughly."

Yuna’s voice was small, and her face was a little red.

She was telling the truth; of course she was interested in such precious knowledge. But for some reason, receiving Lu Cang’s thanks made her heart beat so fast.

Lu Cang also wore a smile.

Yuna’s parents were among the administrators of this White Tower.

’Probably best not to tell her that these two books were stolen from inside the White Tower.’

...

Chronology was now mastered as well.

Thus, Ancient An Su Secret Language, Chronology, Prophetic Science, Future Studies, Destiny Science, and Divination were now all mastered.
