Chapter 355: Chapter 355 - 344: First B-Rank Mission

Allen closed the assets interface and turned his attention back to the mission center.

A cash flow of three million Low-Level Magic Stones was a considerable sum for an ordinary Second-level Wizard, but for an Alchemy School Wizard like Allen, whose wealth was tied up in heavy assets, it was already starting to feel tight.

Product distribution for Weisren Heavy Industry took time, and the Cybertron Workshop burned through money every single day. The procurement of High-tier Materials, the unlocking of new technologies—each was a bottomless pit of expenses.

He needed to make some quick money, but more importantly, he needed Credit Points to access and study High-tier knowledge.

He set the clearance filter to B-rank, and hundreds of missions populated the light screen.

[Mission ID: BE-0912 | Type: Exploration | Difficulty: B-Rank | Details: Venture deep into the ’Crying Marsh’ Plane and map the Magic Power node distribution of its core area, the ’Eye of Sorrow’. | Estimated Duration: Three years minimum. | Reward: Ten thousand Mid-Level Magic Stones, 32 Credit Points.]

[Mission ID: BD-0765 | Type: Development | Difficulty: B-Rank | Details: Establish a forward observation post on the Plane and ensure its stable operation for ten years. | Mission Duration: Ten years. | Reward: 280 Credit Points, and a 50% share of the station’s profits.]

[Mission ID: BC-1104 | Type: Elimination | Difficulty: B-Rank | Details: Investigate and eliminate the abnormally proliferating fungus ’Brain-Devouring Mushroom’ on the ’Mycelial Corridor’ Plane. | Mission Duration: Unlimited. | Note: This fungus is highly corrosive to spiritual bodies. Wizards of the Mind School should accept with caution.]

Allen scrolled through them one by one, his brow furrowing tighter.

Most of these missions either required too great a time commitment or fell outside his area of expertise.

But that couldn’t be helped. The Association didn’t support idlers. High returns inevitably came with either a significant time investment or extremely high risk, which was why most high-rank missions were long-term.

’I still have to keep up supplies for New West, so I definitely can’t be gone for too long. I’d better find a short-term mission.’

’Huh, what’s this?’

Allen’s gaze slid to the bottom of the list.

A mission was flashing continuously, marked by the system as a "Targeted Recommendation."

[Mission ID: BR-0447 | Type: Emergency Rescue | Difficulty: B-Rank | Details: On Plane No. 867, Association Field Investigation Team No. 114 has been out of contact for over seven standard days. Please proceed immediately to the last known signal coordinates and ascertain the situation. | Team Composition: Ten First-level Wizards.]

[Mission Reward:]

[1. Successfully rescue the members of the investigation team and bring back the complete survey data. Reward: Twenty thousand Mid-Level Magic Stones, 50 Credit Points.]

[2. Confirm all investigation team members are deceased, ascertain the cause of death, and retrieve their identification badges. Reward: Ten thousand Mid-Level Magic Stones, 10 Credit Points.]

[Client: Association Department of Emergency Affairs.]

Allen’s gaze locked onto the number: "50 Credit Points."

Fifty Credit Points meant he would need to have one of the Cybertron Workshop’s production lines running around the clock for several months, all while dealing with various other matters.

’This mission was recommended by the Association based on my School and abilities. And if I’m fast, I could probably be back in ten to fifteen days.’

"The risk..." Allen muttered to himself, his mind racing.

A standard Association field team of ten First-level Wizards should be enough to handle the vast majority of threats below Level 2.

They had been out of contact for seven days without managing to send out a single distress signal.

’This means the enemy they encountered on the Wailing Icefield was at least Level 2, possibly even multiple Level 2 creatures. Any higher, and it probably wouldn’t have been classified as a B-rank mission.’

’The Association has Wizards who specialize in divination. Generally, the accuracy of their mission classifications is around 95%.’

"DSeek, assess the success rate for mission BR-0447 based on current data."

*Insufficient data for precise assessment. Performing probabilistic inference based on available information...*

*Threat level assessed as low to moderate.*

*Factoring in the support capabilities of the Cybertron Half-Plane and the combat strength of the Golem Legion, mission completion probability (achieving either reward condition) is 87.3%. The probability of achieving Condition 1 is 61.5%.*

’This deal is worth it.’

’If it gets too risky, I’ll pull out immediately.’

The look in Allen’s eyes once again became as calm and still as undisturbed water.

He had no concern for the ten Wizards’ current plight. All he saw was a blunt cost-benefit analysis and the mission requirements.

He stretched out a finger and lightly tapped the light screen.

*Mission BR-0447 accepted.*

*Mission logged. A Plane beacon has been sent to your terminal. Please proceed to the Star Gate sky-island within 24 hours.*

Allen closed the rescue mission interface.

However, his gaze stopped on a C-rank miscellaneous mission he had scrolled past moments before.

[Mission ID: DP-1102]

[Type: Logistical Cleanup]

[Mission Brief: A large amount of scrapped Golem wreckage exists on the Wizard battlefield of Plane No. 354 and is in urgent need of clearing.]

[Reward: 50 Mid-Level Magic Stones.]

[Note: Twelve malfunctioning Golems remain on-site. They are to be handled at the contractor’s discretion.]

This type of job was known within the Association as a "trash mission." The pay was low, there were no Credit Points, and sometimes the contractor even lost money on the teleportation fees.

Allen stared at the phrase "scrapped Golem wreckage," and an idea suddenly sparked in his mind.

In his previous life, the gold content in old mobile phones was higher than in natural gold ore. Over eighty percent of steel came from recycling.

’But in this world, what is a scrapped Golem, in essence?’

’It’s a collection of various metals infused with Magic Power, Rune substrates that are worn but still valuable, energy-depleted Crystal Stone cores, and functional modules that can occasionally be repaired...’

’To others, this is all just junk.’

’But I see an untapped resource vein.’

’Could I set up a scrap recycling plant? Carve out a whole new revenue stream?’

Allen opened the knowledge base and entered "material recovery," "reverse decomposition," and "salvage reuse" into the search bar.

He first checked to see if anyone was already working in this field. The search results were sparse.

The industrial system of the Wizarding World was relatively crude.

The mainstream practice for scrapped alloys was to simply melt them down for use as low-grade construction material. Re-purifying the various Magic Metals from the alloy cost more than buying new materials outright.

After scrolling through a dozen pages, a free paper filed under the "Classical Alchemy" subdirectory caught his attention.

*Reverse Alchemy—The Art of Devolving Products Back into Materials*.

The author was unknown, and it was dated three thousand years ago.

Allen opened the paper.

It contained no specific spell models, only a purely theoretical framework.

The core concept was that all things have inherent material properties. By identifying the differences between materials, one could gradually dismantle the binding forces between elements in an alloy, causing the finished product to devolve into its most basic raw materials.

The theory sounded plausible.

However, an annotation from a later scholar was added below: "This theory lacks practical application. Although experiments have shown that a binding force does exist at the microscopic level, the Magic Power frequencies of these forces differ between elements. This would likely require countless experiments, making it economically unviable."

Knowledge circulation among Advanced Wizards was relatively limited. Few bothered to research experiments that required extensive trial and error to become efficient, and even those who achieved a breakthrough wouldn’t share their results easily.

It was unlike his previous life, where much of the foundational research was conducted through international collaboration among scholars, with the results ultimately published in journals for the benefit of all.

This, in Allen’s eyes, was the inherent limitation of the Wizards.

’Just because others failed doesn’t mean I will...’

As it happened, Allen already possessed some of the prerequisites for researching this technology.

He had previously mastered a Witchcraft model called [Deconstruction and Recomposition of Non-Magical Matter].

[Deconstruction and Recomposition of Non-Magical Matter] only worked on ordinary matter that had no Magic Power signature. The moment it encountered a Magic Metal, the internal Magic Circuits would overwhelm and shatter the deconstruction spell.

’What if I use the "binding force" theory from this paper as a preliminary ’armor-breaking’ step? I could first use a specific Magic Power frequency to make the Magic Metal resonate, placing its internal Magic Circuits into a temporary ’inactive’ state. Then, I can apply the deconstruction spell.’

’As for the laborious, time-consuming process of testing frequencies that others complained about—I have the "Resonance Crystal Core" technology I’d replicated from the Abyssal Ray. It’s a perfect match for the theories in *Reverse Alchemy*!’

’Then I can just have Jarvis run brute-force experiments.’

’With this as a foundation, I might just be able to develop a brand-new technology for efficiently breaking down metal alloys...’

’Then the detritus of war spread across hundreds of Planes—the scrapped Golems, the damaged equipment—it would all become an exclusive source of materials for Weisren Heavy Industry!’

’This would be an industry even more discreet and far more vast than the arms trade!’

"DSeek, archive this paper and create a new project."

*Command received.*

*Project named: Weisren Heavy Industry - Secondary Revenue Stream - Preliminary Research.*

Allen forcibly reigned in the thoughts surging through his mind.

The plan was too ambitious. It would require time to research and validate.

For now, the immediate priority was earning those 50 Credit Points.

His first high-rank mission would begin with a rescue.
