Chapter 334: Chapter 334 - 325: Packing Up and Moving
Today was Allen’s last day as head of the zone.
At that moment, the last of the equipment from the surface mining sites in Zone 18 was being dismantled.
Workshop servants, like diligent worker ants, dismantled the refining equipment, conveyor belts, and sorting devices one by one, packing them into standardized transport containers.
Each container was a five-meter cube, its surface painted with a serial number and weight. They were stacked neatly in an open space, awaiting transport.
The entrance to Cybertron’s storage and logistics sector was wide open.
A spatial interface, temporarily opened to the material plane, looked like a rectangular rift torn out of thin air, a faint, deep blue light glowing from within.
The servants lifted the transport containers, feeding them into the rift one by one until they vanished.
The process had been ongoing for seventy-two hours. Packing up everything Allen had built over the past twenty years was no small undertaking.
"Commander, demolition of ground facilities is 94.7% complete. The remaining Magic Furnaces in the temporary workshops will be brought back within two hours."
Jarvis’s voice echoed in Allen’s mind.
Allen hovered above the workshop, arms crossed, surveying the bustling scene below.
The land, once densely packed with charging stations, repair workshops, and mining facilities, was now stripped bare.
All that remained on the exposed bedrock and gravel were foundation pits of varying depths, resembling gums after all the teeth had been pulled.
In the distance, the Golem Legions that had been stationed in various locations were returning in formation.
The Golems marched in four columns, silently heading toward another spatial interface.
Every Golem moved in lockstep, their spacing perfectly uniform. Their combined footfalls created a low rumble, like the very heartbeat of the earth.
One after another, Demon Eyes descended slowly from an altitude of seven thousand meters.
The sensor arrays on their spherical hulls deactivated one by one as they landed steadily in a designated area of the workshop. Workshop servants immediately swarmed them to begin cleaning and maintenance.
On the horizon, several massive, black, inverted-pyramid silhouettes grew steadily larger.
They were three Hive Mother Ships.
Withdrawing from their defensive positions, they hovered slowly three hundred meters above the zone. The last few swarms of Mad Bee drones returned to the densely packed hexagonal ports on the ships’ hulls, emitting a low, constant hum.
Once the recovery was complete, the mother ships slowly descended into an opening dome on the workshop’s roof.
Allen watched the scene unfold, a complicated expression on his face.
’Time to move again. But this time, I’m taking the whole house with me.’
"Jarvis, report on Cybertron’s current status."
"Acknowledged."
A holographic projection materialized before him.
"Total Workshop Area: Developed regions expanded to 15 square kilometers. Newly added areas are primarily for the storage and logistics sector, and the production and manufacturing sector.
Production Lines: 10 total. 5 general-purpose, 2 dedicated to Golems, 1 for ammunition, 1 for precision components, and 1 experimental line. Active workshop servants: 276."
"Defense Zone: 24 Prism Towers. AT Field Generators cover 80% of the outer wall. Wall reinforcement is complete on the eastern and northern faces."
"Laboratories: Five are operational—Magic Power Theory, Runology, Weapon Development, Biomaterials, and Ores & Crystals. The remaining five have reached 41% equipment installation."
"Storage and Logistics Sector: Capacity has been expanded to accommodate fifteen standard Golem Legions and their entire logistical support."
The data scrolled by. Allen nodded and switched to the next category.
"Military Assets."
"Active combat units are as follows:"
"Standard Golem Legions: 10. Each legion consists of 200 Spider Killer Type IIs, 20 Purgatories, 10 Magic Eye Type II aerial fortresses, 100 Peacekeeper PX-1B (mass-production model), 3 Magic Eye Type Vs, 6 Storm Falcons, 1 Hive Mother Ship, and 2 aerial transport ships."
"Mining Field Garrisons: 25 units, totaling 13,250 Golems (comprising 12,500 Jumping Spiders and 250 Mining Golems). Previously stationed at various mining sites, all have been recalled."
"Aerial Patrol Force: Three squadrons, each equipped with 24 Storm Falcons and 3 Freedom Gundams."
"Guard Force: 1 Divine Statue Gabriel; 1 Divine Statue Cyclops; 1 PX-0 (Xiong Da); 50 PX-1s; 3 PX-2s (Flame Demon); 6 Freedom Gundams. All units are currently in low-power hibernation."
"Celestial Net: 20 Magic Eye Type Vs and 1 Celestial Throne."
"Exploration and Engineering Golems: 40 Burrowing Insects, 10 Pioneers."
"Finances."
"Current Liquid Capital: 34.6 million Low-Level Magic Stones."
"Primary expenditures over the past five years: R&D and manufacturing for the Divine Statue Series totaled over 67 million; R&D for weapons like the Celestial Throne, procurement of the Geothermal Forge and lab equipment, and formula purchases cost 4.52 million; production of Golem Legions cost approximately 46 million; routine legion maintenance and ammunition consumption cost about 3.4 million; and miscellaneous expenses totaled 11.8 million."
He had still managed to save 34.6 million Low-Level Magic Stones. For a Second-level Golem Wizard, this amount was neither a lot nor a little.
’It’s not much, but it’s not dire, either. Once I get to the new place, the first order of business will be to make some money.’
"Strategic Resource Reserves."
"Geothermal-Tempered Magic Steel Ingots: 1,274 tons. Adamantine Ingots: 86 tons. Mithril Ingots: 12 tons. Crystalization Seed Ore: 2,500 tons. Various Crystal Stone Magic Cores: 3,470, including 41 High-tier Magic Cores. Ammunition Reserves: Sufficient for 10 legions to engage in three medium-intensity battles. Spare Part Redundancy: 24%."
’A 24% redundancy rate is a little low. The spare parts would probably be exhausted after a single major battle.’
"Personal Progression."
[1. Core Matrix: 0/8 (First Core Matrix of the Second-level Wizard stage has not been inscribed. Will Rune progress: 17/36)]
[2. Mental Sub-threads: 9/16]
[3. Core Witchcraft: 1/3]
’My progress is abysmal, but at least I managed to create another sub-thread.’
’That should be everything worth taking.’
The remaining unmined ore veins in Zone 18 would be handed over to Master Mercer as per their agreement.
In fact, the neighboring Zone 17, along with a large area to its west, had been taken over by his master six months ago. His Engineering Golems had already developed numerous mining sites there.
This was no longer his place.
The last group of servants carried the final transport containers into the spatial interface. The rear of the 10th Legion vanished into the rift.
As the spatial portal closed, all of Zone 18 fell silent and empty. Only the wind remained, whistling through the hollowed-out mountains with a mournful echo.
It was as if the clamor and activity of the past twenty years had been nothing but a fleeting dream.
[Celestial Throne commencing descent.]
Jarvis’s voice rang out.
Allen looked up at the sky.
High in the cloudless firmament, an invisible ripple spread out. A colossal shadow tore through the Illusion Runes, slowly emerging from the void.
The Celestial Throne.
The oval-shaped aerial platform, one hundred twenty meters long and eighty meters wide, descended like a floating island, exuding a suffocating pressure as it drew closer.
At last, this weapon of war also entered the workshop.
[All external units have been recovered.]
With that, everything Allen had built in the Molten Iron Mountain Range was packed away.
’Time to go.’
He turned, and the vast complex of Cybertron grew faint behind him. It then vanished from the material plane, leaving only a massive, flat-bottomed crater in its place.
[Demiplane dimension has been un-anchored from the material plane.]
Next, he had to go to the Forged Fire Fortress to process his departure. Allen decided not to take the Odyssey. He planned to fly to the fortress himself, to take one last look at the land he was leaving behind.
