Chapter 545: Chapter 545 – 3 doors – Part 5.
"After obtaining her freedom for the very first time in her life, our goodness wondered around in the desert... And saw it." – said the priestess.
"She thought that she saw the true evil of her father... But now she saw the true scale of his evil."
"Death and desolation."
"Cruelty beyond cruelty."
"It didn’t mattered if you were child or elderly, he shown mercy to non that didn’t respected him."
"The desert wasn’t destroyed because of the heretics or those who defied him."
"No."
"He was the one that brough the desert to the ruins."
"All in order to conquer it."
"He said that he wanted to save it."
"Hypocrite."
"Lier."
"I was still a human during time where he ruled, and I could tell myself... That he was a pure evil."
"However, our goodness didn’t gave up on this land, nor us."
"She could had ran away, I knew it myself... But she didn’t."
"Instead, she became a god."
"A god that would save the desert."
"She gathered the people and created them a shelter."
"The oasis."
"One by one, more oases were created, before then a great oasis city was created, bringing life and peace to these sand filled lands."
"She became the goodness of beauty and oasis."
"She became the one who brough peace and comfort to the people of this land."
"..."
"However, the cruel god of the desert found her."
"He was furious at his daughter that not only she was helping out the heretics that dared to defy him, but also ascend to the true godhood herself."
"..."
"But he was willing to forgive her."
"All in exchange for exchanging her people and turning them into the soldiers of the god of the desert."
"He wanted to turn every single believer of hers into a slave."
"He wanted her to straight up butcher her own fallowers."
"..."
"And she said no?" – said Phantasia.
"..."
"Yes... She declined his offer." – said the priestess.
"She said that the people she wishes to protect were her father’s victim."
"That she won’t join the mindless slaughter that is done in that hypocrites name."
"Obviously that meant war."
"He without hesitation raised up his sword against his own daughter, aiming to once again enslave her and her people."
"But she didn’t gave up."
"The oasis was far better defended than anything that the hypocrite god could had wished for."
"His armies couldn’t easily penetrate these defenses."
"..."
"But at the same time, the desert god was one of strongest gods back then and our goodness was still young as a god."
"So there was no surprise that the forces of the desert god were destroying the land of our goodness, annihilating the land completely and turning the oasis that brough life to this land into nothing more that seas of sand once again."
"Huh. So even when the damage was being repaired and the life was brough to these lands, he now intentionally without hesitation destroyed it?" – asked Phantasia.
"Jealously." – said the priestess.
"Beside power, he was straight up jealous of his own daughter."
"That she straight up was saving the land he was destroying."
"That he wasn’t the one that did it."
"He was heretic to his own people and the land itself."
"..."
"Honestly speaking, based on how things were going, it was matter of time before our goodness would end up being enslaved with her people...."
"But then the miracle came."
"The god of blood and rubies, the enemy of the god of the desert, came to the rescue, leading a group of gods that also wished for the destruction of the heretic god."
"With their help, the god of the desert was repelled."
"And afterwords, the god of the beauty and oasis joined the alliance."
"Which then exterminated the heretic god once and for all."
"Bringing the peace to the desert."
"The desert, a land where only death only ruled, was no more."
"The life was restored."
"The hope was restored."
"..."
"But as you know already, that peace didn’t lasted long."
"Because that is when the invaders appeared." – said the priestess as room returned to normal.
"..."
(So, no all-elder gods were good gods?) – thought Phantasia.
(Some were even worse than the invaders.)
(Still, Thanatos did not mentioned anything about war... Does that mean each temple has different sort of information to offer?)
"..."
"Question." – said Phantasia.
"Only gods who fought against the invaders had left their divinities behind, right?"
"I mean, there isn’t something like the god of the desert left his divinity here and somebody would find it, giving rise to the new evil god, right?"
"No. He was exterminated." – said the priestess.
"Only the gods that stood at the end of the war ended up leaving behind their divinities... The gods that had fallen during the war could not had left theirs unfortunately."
(Hm... Shame.) – thought Phantasia.
(From what I’m hearing, this desert god may had been asshole, but he was one of the strongest gods... If I could had secured his divinity, then it would be freaking massive power up.)
(Still... The way to do this quest was to think about people, above everything else... Huh?)
(A test that outright lies to you.)
"..."
"Question."- said Phantasia.
"Am I allowed to ask some personal questions?"
"..."
"Sure." – said the priestess.
"But unfortunately, now that I had completed my duty and you had proven yourself as the chosen, I will need to initiate the passing ritual."
"I have limited amount of time before I disappear, so please, ask your questions quickly."
(The same way as Thanatos’s guy, eh?) – thought Phantasia.
"I’m going to ask this straight." – said Phantasia.
"Is there any way we can just banish the invaders once again? Was there some kind of safety secret mechanism that the elder gods left behind?"
"No." – replied the priestess.
"The gods already used everything they had to destroy this ruined world and create the seal."
"But still, there is no way the invaders have easy access to this world."
"Their connection is far weaker compare to before and it is possible to much easier banish them, compare to before."
"However, you need to purge their touch, destroy the anchors they are using to attach themselves to this world."
(So the stuff that we are already doing... Shit.) – thought Phantasies.
"Next question." – said Phantasia.
"The divinities, they can fall into the hands of the heretics, the invaders and their fallowers."
"What happens if they do?"
"Do they just have them? Or is there any way we can deal with the traitors who wields the power of the elder gods?"
"..."
"Unfortunately, not." – said the priestess outright.
"I don’t really know anything that could had answered your question unfortunately."
(Welp, this sucks ass.) – thought annoyed Phantasia.
"Still, the heretics won’t have easy time obtaining the divinities."
"They will be presented with two choices."
"Rebel against their masters and join our side."
"Or be exterminated."
"..."
"So you are saying, that I would straight up get attacked if I were to come here, using the power of the heretics?" – asked Phantasia.
"Precisely." – said the priestess as she started noticing her body acting up.
"I’m sorry, but the time is up." – said the priestess as she opened up the massive stone walls.
"Come."
"Let us begin the ceremony."
"..."
(Welp... I had way more questions to ask... But I guess we will have the third guardian we met answer them.) – thought Phantasia as he fallowed the priestess back to the massive room where the road splits into four.
"Now."
"Let us begin the ceremony!" – said the priestess as the ground beneath the two started coming apart bit by bit, revealing a massive volume of blue water beneath the two, before moments later a water surged upwards, completely shattering the floor and kidnapping Phantasia as he flew upwards, while each celling above him was opening up one after another, creating pathway for Phantasia as he waken higher and higher, before then being gently placed on the floor.
"Huh... That was quiet fun." – said Phantasia as the opening in the floor behind him closed, before in the next moment the room he was in brighten up as the blue water began running through the pipes that was spread throughout the whole room.
And as the room was fully brightened up, Phantasia realized that he found himself in some kind of miniature oasis, with plants growing everywhere.
And in the middle of that room, he saw an altar, which also had a statue of a beautiful woman a snake tail and six arms.
"Now, let us begin the ceremony." – said the priestess as she flew above the altar.
"Your name."
"..."
"Phantasia." – replied the man.
"Phantasia." – said the priestess.
"You had proven yourself."
"You had shown your might when it comes to leading people as well as understanding them."
"You had proven that you are the one."
"The champion."
"The being that is worthy of being called successor."
"And now, let me ask you this."
"Do you wish to inherit this divinity?"

"I do accept it." – said Phantasia.
"Then you shall have it!" – said the priestess as the altar in the middle of the room opened up, before moments later a rays of light... No.
A rays of glowing beautiful water emerged out from the altar and dance in the sky, before then entering Phantasia’s body, merging with it.
"All hail the champion!" – shouted the priestess as her body started slowly collapsing while the song could be heard coming from the pipes filled with blue water.
"All hail the successor!"
"All hail the one who succeeded our goodness’s name!" – shouted priestess as more of the body started disappearing while the glow of the blue water was fainting alongside the song.
"All hail! The one who will become the true mercy giver." – said the priestess as her body became no more and the glow of the blue light was no more.
"..."

"..."
(Mercy giver?) – thought Phantasia.
"Ha....Ha...Hahahahahahaha......"
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
(WHAT MERCY!?)
