Chapter 797: Chapter 797 - 318: Professor Umbridge

Harry decided to write a letter of advice to his godfather, after all, he and Snape were brothers meddling in the same camp, and it’s ultimately not good to damage their relationship.

You, what’s up with harassing Snape for no reason?

In the end, Snape can’t retaliate against you, and who bears the brunt of his anger? Me!

With some time left until Divination class, Harry wrote a letter advising Little Sirius not to bully Snape anymore and had Hedwig take it away.

The new term’s Professor Trelawney seemed a bit under the weather, but she immediately adjusted her state as soon as she saw Annie.

The classroom for the Divination class was cluttered with flimsy little tables, and the light from the covered lamps was exceptionally dim, especially a not-so-bright fire in the room that emitted an unpleasant smell, making people’s brains ache.

"I’m kind of regretting choosing to take Divination class again," Ron said.

Professor Trelawney seemed not to hear Ron’s words; her attention was completely drawn to Annie.

"My dear~" she said to Annie in her usual mysterious, vague voice, "Welcome to the Divination class—welcome..."

"You, hello?" Annie asked uncertainly, "Professor?"

"I’m certainly fine, my dear." Professor Trelawney raised her hands in a French salute, "But you, you have the Celestial Eye that others in this school don’t possess... yes, I can see your Celestial Eye..."

This totally stumped Annie.

Celestial Eye?

What is that?

"As I said, the Celestial Eye is an innate gift." Professor Trelawney’s voice started to clear up, "Some girls—you know who I’m talking about—their souls are as dry as straw and don’t have the gift of divination... but this one... Oh, my dear, what’s your name?"

"Annie." Annie answered timidly, "Annie Saru."

"Oh." Professor Trelawney raised the corners of her mouth, "Annie, you have an outstanding gift for divination. If you’re interested in divination, you can stay after class."

Annie didn’t respond but instead looked at Harry.

"It’s a good opportunity, Annie." Harry reached out and ruffled Annie’s hair as he always did, "I believe Professor Trelawney wouldn’t deceive you. Since you have a talent for prophecy, why not study with Professor Trelawney?"

Since it was Harry’s suggestion, Annie hesitated but nodded in agreement.

After all, Harry wouldn’t harm her.

"Then..." Professor Trelawney’s voice became vague again, "every Friday night, my dear... you come to my office for detention..."

"Okay, Professor." Annie nodded.

Harry thought now there really was a need for someone talented in prophecy, as Gellert was nonviolently uncooperative, and Vivi’s predictions could only see within a few days and were often unreliable.

Annie, on the other hand, was an excellent choice, at least she wouldn’t play at nonviolent non-cooperation like Gellert.

Thinking of Gellert, Harry felt a bit itchy.

If given the chance, indeed he should spar with his brother-in-law in spells.

The Divination class passed quickly. As professors with attitudes not much different from Professor Bin, Professor Trelawney didn’t restrict students too much on whether they paid attention in class.

Ron pulled Seamus, and the two secretly played tic-tac-toe under the table, seeming quite happy.

This game was taught to them by Zhang Qiu during the summer, saying it’s a kind of brain-stimulating game.

At first, Zhang Qiu could win with her rich experience, but after a few rounds, she started losing more than winning.

Especially losing to Ron with her "eagle hand" was quite laughable.

But when class ended, the students weren’t laughing.

Professor Trelawney assigned homework to each person, requiring them to detail their dreams from the past month in their assignment.

"I think she might as well have killed us." Ron said somewhat resignedly, "Look at how much homework we already received today? Professor Snape gave us a foot-long essay, and Professor Bin was even more excessive with a foot-and-a-half-long essay—I thought that was already the end, but no, here comes the masterful Professor Trelawney, asking us to record a month’s dreams! Who remembers what they dreamt anyway?!"

"You can write your dreams first." Harry shrugged and said, "No need to wait until you dream to write. For example, when you go back tonight, you could write down your dreams from the past month."

"I think he means make it up." Seamus quipped from behind, "But I quite like this method, stealing it."

"I have a bad feeling." Ron suddenly looked up and said, "I bet that woman Umbridge will definitely do the same, making her loudest entrance! She will definitely give us a ton of homework!"

"Actually, doing homework isn’t so bad." Neville said quietly from behind, "It’s far better than being put in detention by Professor Snape, don’t you think? I’d rather be with Hagrid’s Exploding Snails than be put in detention by Professor Snape..."

"What if Hagrid makes you eat Rock Cakes?" Ron asked from behind.

Neville shuddered, saying without hesitation, "Then I’d still rather be in detention by Professor Snape."

"Huh?" Annie suddenly asked, "Rock Cakes? Harry, didn’t you tell me Rock Cakes are delicious? Why would Longbottom say this?"
