Chapter 787: Chapter 787 - 313: Cassandra’s Essence
"You really have no sense of appreciation." Seamus, who had somehow come in, said, "Real Fanta is always orange flavored. Stuff like grape and apple are heresies, heresies! Do you get it?"
However, Ron smiled maturely and didn’t oppose Seamus’s words.
"You’re quite right, the orange flavor is quite good too."
"Speaking of Fanta, it actually has a bit of history." Hermione tried to start a lecture, then thought better of it and gave up, "Forget it, you’re not Muggles, there’s no need to know this bit of history."
Just then, a head suddenly peeked in from outside.
"Ron, Hermione?" the head said, "Can you come out for a bit?"
Ron and Hermione left, leaving Harry, Neville, Seamus, Annie, and Luna, who was pretending to read "Singing Against the Tune."
The few of them chatted for a while, and soon the trolley lady selling snacks came by.
As usual, Harry bought a lot of things; he always had a bit of trouble controlling himself with train snacks.
He had barely taken a few bites when Ron and Hermione returned.
"I’m starving."
Ron said as he grabbed a Chocolate Frog from Harry’s hand and plopped down in the seat beside him.
He tore open the wrapper, bit off the frog’s head, and then slumped against the back of the chair, closing his eyes, as if he’d been starved all morning.
"Didn’t you eat three chicken legs this morning?" Hermione asked with a frown. "Who starved you..."
"Tired." Ron said as he lay exhausted in the seat.
"What were you two up to?" Harry asked curiously.
"Oh." Ron brightened up, "If you mean that then I’m not tired at all—I became the Class Prefect for our Gryffindor... you know, the prefects are usually one boy and one girl, and Hermione’s the female prefect for our Gryffindor..."
"That’s great news!" Harry said, happy for his buddy, "Congratulations, have another Chocolate Frog."
Seamus and Neville also congratulated them, especially Seamus, who even wanted to use a Magic Spell to celebrate, but Neville stopped him in time.
Ron took the Chocolate Frog Harry handed over, unwrapped it, and glanced at the card.
"Oh, it’s Dumbledore again." Ron shrugged, "Remember when we first met? You shared a Chocolate Frog with me, and the card was Dumbledore."
"Of course." Harry recalled the scene too and couldn’t help but smile.
"Just like Ron said, each house has two prefects in the fifth year," Hermione said as she sat down, looking a bit unhappy, "One boy and one girl."
"Guess who Slytherin’s primary prefect is?" Ron said with a gossiping expression.
"Definitely Draco." Harry answered without hesitation, "Don’t forget, his dad is a governor at Hogwarts, how could he not end up a Hogwarts prefect? If I’m not mistaken, Lucius was a prefect when he was in school, and so was his grandfather."
And there was one more thing unsaid, the Malfoy family had always been prefects, Cassandra was the female prefect for Slytherin during her school days too.
"Exactly." Ron said indignantly, stuffing the frog’s body into his mouth, then grabbing another one.
Even now, after dueling together at the Dueling House, Ron still couldn’t bring himself to like that brat Draco.
Because Draco was always picking on him when he had nothing else to do.
"And that total cow Pansy Parkinson," Hermione said sharply, "How could she become a prefect? She’s dumber than a troll with a concussion! My gosh, it’s hard to imagine..."
"Who are Hufflepuff’s prefects?" Harry asked.
"Ernie Macmillan and Hanna Abbo." Ron quickly replied, "Cedric didn’t want to be a prefect anymore; he said he wants to focus on studying for the upcoming N.E.W.T.s."
"Very wise choice, considering a person’s energy is limited." Seamus commented from the side, he quite liked Cedric, "I think he made the right call."
"Ravenclaw’s are Anthony Goldstein and Padma Patil." Hermione added, "That’s all the new prefects for the new term."
"Mom is going to be over the moon." Ginny said nearby, "After Percy, another prefect from our family—keep in mind, Bill and Charlie were both prefects during school too."
"Yeah, I just wonder what Mom will reward me with this time." Ron said, his eyebrows waggling with excitement, "But I really hope it’s not another chicken leg, I’m tired of getting chicken legs as rewards..."
"Don’t worry, Ron." Ginny laughed, "Every prefect in the family has had their unique reward, and I’m sure you’ll get Mom’s reward and praise too—"
"Thank you, Ginny." Ron said, smiling.
"We should occasionally patrol the corridors," he then turned to Seamus and Neville, "Hey, guys, if anyone’s up to no good, we can punish them—I’d really like to catch Crabbe and Gall doing something wrong."
"You shouldn’t abuse your power, Ron!" Hermione sternly reprimanded.
"Yeah, that’s right, because Malfoy would never abuse his power." Ron said sarcastically, "Even though he’s not as annoying as he used to be, Slytherin knows, he’s bound to be just like his biased headmaster, finding ways to take points away from others!"
"Are you saying you’re going to stoop to his level?" Hermione asked with a cold smile.
"No, I just plan to make sure that before he bullies my friends, I’ll show his friends a little payback." Ron said nonchalantly, "Do I really have to carry some moral burden allowing people to pick on me from all directions? Don’t be ridiculous, Hermione... Professor McGonagall is just like that, which is why Slytherin kept winning the House Cup for six years in a row—if it weren’t for Harry, this trend would have continued! When will you wake up..."
