Chapter 466: Chapter 466: Arrogance or Stupidity.
Coming out of his sleeping chamber, the Horn Lizard King sat on his throne and stared at his trusted aide with obvious anger.
His piercing eyes swept across the hall, causing the Horn Lizard Soldier to lower his head.
"What is it?"
His booming voice echoed throughout the hall, carrying an unquestionable authority that made the air seem heavier.
Thud!
The trusted aide fell to one knee and lowered his head respectfully.
"My King, there is an emergency that needs your attention immediately," he reported quickly, not daring to raise his head.
"Hmm?"
When the Horn Lizard King heard this, he creased his brow, and various thoughts ran through his mind.
’Is it possible those damned humans have returned?’
’That would be even better if they returned...’
’I can capture them once and for all and be done with it.’
’But if it is the humans, my soldiers should be able to handle it. They wouldn’t dare disturb my sleep over such a trivial matter.’
The more he thought about it, the deeper his frown became. A sense of uneasiness slowly crept into his heart, though he could not determine its source.
’Is it possible those damned Scorpions have betrayed me...?’
’They wouldn’t dare...’
Thinking of this, a powerful aura emanated from his body, and the hall trembled violently under the overwhelming pressure.
Some of the torches hanging on the walls were extinguished, while others fell onto the ground with loud crashes.
"Is it the Scorpions?" he asked, his voice laced with fury. Even the surrounding Horn Lizard Guards could feel the King’s killing intent surging through the hall.
"No, My King." The trusted aide shook his head.
"Then who?"
"It is a single human..." He paused for a second as he quickly arranged his thoughts.
"I’ve already deployed our strongest soldiers to stop him, but there is something strange about this human."
"He is unlike any other human we’ve ever encountered."
The Horn Lizard King listened quietly, but the more he heard, the uglier his expression became.
The confidence he initially had slowly disappeared, replaced by a solemn look.
"This human seems to control the dead. From our scouts’ reports, among his undead are powerful Scorpion Men and many other undead creatures."
"As for how many undead he can control, we do not know. However, rest assured, My King, we are going to take him down."
His voice was filled with confidence, believing the Horn Lizard Clan’s overwhelming soldiers would crush the human with ease.
However, if he had raised his head and seen the King’s expression, he would not have been so confident.
The Horn Lizard King’s pupils had already contracted into thin slits.
His heart, which had remained calm moments ago, was no longer at peace.
’So... he is finally here.’
Of course, he knew who it was without even seeing him. His legend had already spread to his ears, becoming a topic discussed throughout the Bleeding Desert.
The slight tension in his heart dissipated when he found who it was.
On the Bleeding Desert, there was only one human who could control the dead.
Send shivers down the spines of his enemies and make them cower in fear.
The Grim Reaper.
’Is it possible he alone had taken down the entire Scorpion Army?’ The strange thought appeared in his mind, but he immediately shook his head.
’Impossible! There is no way a single human can take down thousands of powerful Scorpion soldiers.’
Others might not know how fearsome the Scorpion Army was, but he knew.
He had faced them in the past, and he had lost badly. Not to the ordinary soldiers, but to their General.
The terrifying Scorpion General had forced him into retreat despite the might of the Horn Lizard Clan.
Where he had failed, how could a mere human succeed?
Worse, alone.
He would never believe it.
To him, there were many schemes at play, and he refused to fall for any of them.
Humans were cunning creatures, always plotting in the shadows and using deception to achieve their goals.
Now, with his current strength, he feared no one on the Crimson Dune.
"Very well." He nodded. "Let’s see what this human can do. I grant you the authority to use the whole army to capture this human."
"And when you capture him, I want him brought before me right away."
"Yes, My King." The trusted aide nodded, his eyes burning with firm determination. "I will not disappoint you."
"Go."
Quickly, he rose to his feet and left the hall in large strides. His footsteps echoed through the palace as he hurried to mobilize every available soldier.
Left alone, the Horn Lizard King rose to his feet, and his serpentine pupils narrowed into thin slits.
"Since you dare enter my town, you can forget about leaving."
"As of today, this will become your cage. My new slave," he whispered, his voice dripping with scorn.
A cruel smile slowly spread across his face.
What was the Grim Reaper?
Before him, no matter how powerful the human was, they were nothing but prey.
Even his archrival retreated before his presence, so what more could a mere human accomplish?
Now, he couldn’t wait for the Grim Reaper to be captured and brought before him.
He would personally crush the human’s pride beneath his feet and show everyone why the Horn Lizard Clan would be the true ruler of the Crimson Dune.
While he was lost in his fantasy, the situation outside the King residence had become grim.
Tension and fear gripped everyone’s mind.
Horn Lizard Soldiers rushed forward with their faces filled with urgency, hatred and anger. The news of a human causing trouble had already spread among their rank.
Even though they heard this human was different, they did not believe they could not take him down. This was their town, how could a mere human defeat them on their turf.
Besides, how powerful could a single human be.
But tonight, they, their king and everyone inside the Horn LIzard Town was going to find out why their enemy was called.
The Grim Reaper.
