Chapter 437: Chapter 437: The Last...
Back at the battlefield, the previous thousands of Scorpion Clan soldiers had been reduced to only a few hundred, their once overwhelming numbers now diminished beyond recognition after enduring wave upon wave of relentless slaughter.
And with each passing second, they were being killed at a visible speed as the undead army continued advancing without slowing down.
"Ahhhh!"
"Ahhh!"
"Ahhh!"
The battlefield echoed with endless screams of agony and despair as the cries of dying Scorpion soldiers blended together into a horrifying symphony that spread across the crimson desert.
Watching the endless sea of undead, all the Scorpion soldiers had lost all hope of fighting the battle as despair swallowed the last traces of courage remaining within their hearts, replacing it with overwhelming fear.
Their only thought was to escape, but everywhere they looked, there were undead.
Whether they turned left, right, forward, or behind them, undead blocked every possible route of retreat, slowly tightening the encirclement around them.
"P-Please... Ahhh... No..."
"I surrender... I surrender..."
Some threw away their weapons while desperately begging for mercy.
While others collapsed onto the sand as fear completely consumed them.
Unfortunately, the undead neither understood surrender nor accepted mercy.
They continued killing without hesitation.
Shields were broken, rendered useless.
Scorpion soldiers were ripped apart as razor-sharp claws tore through armor and flesh alike, scattering bodies across the battlefield.
Their fresh blood had already turned into streams flowing down the dunes.
The smell of blood filled the air.
Shattered scales were everywhere.
Split Greater Dune Scorpion carapaces could be seen everywhere, broken apart under overwhelming force until their once-proud natural armor resembled nothing more than scattered fragments.
Scorpion corpses had formed small mountains of dead bodies, each pile growing taller with every passing minute as more soldiers fell.
Stingers ripped into two, their previous intimidation long gone.
They could be seen everywhere.
Some remained buried beneath the sand.
Others were stained black with dried blood.
Many were snapped cleanly in half.
What was the pride of the Scorpion Clan?
Their stingers?
The symbol of their dominance throughout the Bleeding Desert.
But here, they were scattered everywhere covered in dry blood, trampled beneath countless feet and buried among the corpses of their former owners.
The three battalion commanders had long since fallen under the onslaught of the undead army.
They tried desperately.
They fought with everything they possessed.
Yet...
Nothing changed.
Even when they tried to ditch their men and escape, they failed miserably as elite undead intercepted every possible path before they could flee from the battlefield.
Now, their bodies lay among the endless dead Scorpion soldiers.
Before the undead, the living could do nothing but accept the inevitable as exhaustion.
Tens of meters from the heart of the battlefield, a horrifying battle was going on, one so violent that neither ordinary undead nor ordinary Scorpion soldiers dared approach its destructive range.
Dust rose into the sky as the ground shook vehemently beneath the repeated impact of overwhelming attacks, causing the surrounding dunes to tremble as though the desert itself were crying out in pain.
It was as if an earthquake was happening.
Every collision released deafening shockwaves.
The thunderous sounds echoed across the battlefield.
Dunes were flattened with each passing second.
Fissures appeared on the ground as devastating impacts repeatedly tore apart the desert landscape.
And in the next second, they were covered in sand under earth-shaking power as countless tons of loose sand cascaded downward.
Apart from the dust rising into the air, undead bodies could be seen flying through the sky after being struck by terrifying attacks.
Their bodies shattered into fragments, scattering into obscure corners of the battlefield.
For the scale of this battle, ordinary undead were forced back, and only the powerful undead confronted the enemy.
And who was the enemy?
Surrounded by the elite undead vanguard, the Level 39 Scorpion General was covered in various degrees of injuries.
Deep wounds crisscrossed his massive body as fresh cuts overlapped older injuries. His breathing had become noticeably heavier.
Yet his towering figure refused to fall as the General fought bravely.
His eyes were already bloodshot, with a suffocating aura emanating from his body like an overflowing river.
Every swing of his saber carried overwhelming power. Even after suffering countless injuries, his fighting spirit continued to burn fiercely.
Unfortunately, his enemies were undead.
They knew no fear.
They knew no pain..
Intimidation and aura suppression were useless against them. The terrifying pressure pouring from the Scorpion General washed over them like a violent storm.
Yet none of the undead retreated.
Not a single step.
Kill one, two would replace its position. It was an endless vicious cycle that could drive anyone insane.
Still, the Scorpion General’s expression did not falter nor show any traces of fear. His bloodshot eyes remained filled with determination.
His resolve never wavered.
His massive saber rose and fell with mighty force, tearing through the air like a meteor. The air continuously trembled beneath the weight of his attacks.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Five undead shield soldiers stepped forward fearlessly and met the attack head-on.
Like an unbreakable wall.
Sparks flew as the undead shield soldiers trembled fiercely and stumbled backward.
Their feet left deep furrows on the ground. The tremendous force pushed them several meters backward.
However, just as the undead shield soldiers stumbled backward, the undead Kharv charged forward and swung its massive axe.
The General, as if expecting such an attack, responded with his terrifying stinger. His thick tail moved with astonishing speed.
Its sharp stinger pierced through the air like a bolt of black lightning.
Bang! Bang!
The stinger struck the flat side of the axe, knocking it to the side. Both the undead Kharv and the General were forced slightly apart.
Before the General could follow with his massive saber an undead charged from his left side.
’Chain Combo!’
The undead Storm Tyrant leaped into the air, its massive hammer raised above its head. The gigantic weapon cast an enormous shadow over the General’s head.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
In a couple of seconds, the undead Storm Tyrant and the General had exchanged dozens of earth-shaking strikes.
Hammer collided with saber.
Again.
And again.
The deafening impacts rolled across the battlefield like continuous thunder. Yet, the General held his ground, merely taking a couple of steps back, blood leaking from the corner of his lips.
His arms had begun trembling from the repeated collisions.
His breathing became increasingly ragged.
Even so, his grip around the saber never loosened.
However, before he could relax, the undead Royalty Stonewall flashed to the other side, its deadly black sword gleaming with terrifying sharpness.
The sword silently cut through the air.
Its speed was frightening.
’Danger!’
The General reacted instantly, twisting his body and moving his massive saber to welcome the strike.
Every muscle in his body moved without hesitation.
His reaction was nearly perfect.
But then, he saw another undead appear in the air. The undead Storm Tyrant’s hammer leap toward his head once again.
The gigantic hammer descended with overwhelming force.
But his predicament was far from over, as the undead Kharv appeared behind him with his axe going for his back.
More importantly, for his stinger.
Three coordinated attacks all at once.
