Chapter 328: Chapter 328 - 328: Triggering Automated Event

The localized glitches scattered across the Aethelgard map deteriorated into wide structural tears. Deep inside the subterranean craters, millions of high-tier monsters pooled together to prepare a synchronized breach. The game engine registered the Vanguard's initial success and escalated the threat level.

Iron-Scale stood at the edge of the newly formed crater in Tarnstead as loose dirt cascaded into the black depths below. He projected a glowing schematic from his gauntlet.

"According to the Spiral, the system intends to flood the continents," Iron-Scale told the others. "Millions of entities will breach the surface simultaneously."

Syra crossed her arms and studied the blue hologram. "We can turn this crisis into an experience-farming operation."

"Look at the blueprints," Iron-Scale instructed. He tapped the parchment, pointing to a sketched circular battlement designed to encircle the crater. "We construct containment rings to trap the entities directly at their spawn points locking them entirely inside the kill-zones. The architecture features frictionless inner inclines and overlapping firing angles."

Gulag grinned and cracked her knuckles. "Every entity stepping out of the rift will walk directly into a concentrated firing squad."

The military abandoned standard combat patrols and transitioned into an engineering workforce. The laborers hauled large blocks of reinforced stone to the fractured edges of the rifts. The engineers bolted enchanted steel plates across the masonry. The containment rings rose from the earth over the next few weeks.

Syra directed the installation of magical artillery along the upper ridges. Her spellcasters lined the circular walls with automated turrets powered by mana crystals.

Down in the pit, Gulag supervised the ground-level choke points. She tapped her amber core and transmuted the bedrock into slick glass and pointed obsidian spikes.

The engineers bolted mechanical grinders over the transmutations to restrict the monsters' movement the exact millisecond they materialized.

Month two officially began with a systemic surge. The ground fractured completely—paving the way for the initial wave of nightmare-tier dungeon mobs to flood upward toward the surface.

Novus engaged his defensive formations to test the newly constructed fortresses. He arranged his infantry into a phalanx at the base of the kill-zones and slammed his Centipede Vanguard Shield into the dirt.

The surrounding soldiers locked their tower shields together to form a physical barrier.

"Open fire!" Syra shouted from the upper ridges.

The turrets unleashed a barrage of glowing energy into the pit. The first wave served as a trial run for the commanders to analyze the trajectory of the magic artillery.

Syra observed the blast radiuses and identified blind spots along the circular walls. She directed her spellcasters to adjust the firing arcs mid-battle and reposition the turret batteries.

By the start of the third month, they perfected the setup. The containment fortresses operated with flawless precision.

The game engine sent continuous hordes of monsters upward to execute the cataclysm event. The automated turrets vaporized the entities the exact second they spawned on the surface.

"Spears forward!" Gulag roared.

Novus and his infantry executed any surviving stragglers with synchronized thrusts.

They effectively spawn-camped the apocalypse and transformed the server-ending threat into a controlled factory line. Millions of experience points channeled directly into the soldiers, mutating their stats rapidly and evolving the standard army into a legion of high-level conquerors.

Month four arrived with complete silence. The endless flood of dungeon entities stopped entirely. The glowing rifts at the bottom of the containment craters plunged into total darkness.

Syra stood on the upper ridge and looked down at the empty kill-zone. Her automated turrets powered down.

Iron-Scale stepped up beside her. He peered over the edge of the stonework.

'The system adapted to the farm.' Rubedo sighed.

The game engine registered their exploit and altered the parameters to cut off the experience points.

"The engine refuses to feed us," Iron-Scale said. "It wants us to enter the labyrinth to clear the anomalies."

He turned toward the staging area.

"Krax. Torix," Iron-Scale called out. "Lead an expedition force into the pit. Find out what it is hiding."

Krax stepped forward and gripped his greataxe. The embedded Ley-Crystal pulsed with purple light. He inverted his own gravity and leaped directly over the precipice, plummeting toward the bottom of the crater.

Torix followed right behind him. He deployed his silk-spinners and anchored invisible monomolecular threads to the bedrock, gliding down the vertical drop.

The two commanders hit the base of the crater. The shadows inside the primary rift shifted.

A towering monstrosity crawled out of the subterranean depths. The creature possessed overlapping layers of deep crimson armor plates. It let out a guttural roar and charged the choke point.

"Fire!" Syra commanded.

The upper turrets spun to life and unleashed a volley of concentrated energy. The blasts struck the monster's carapace and dispersed into harmless sparks. The beast ignored the barrage completely. It slammed its forelimbs into the spiked barricades and crushed the enchanted steel.

"Orikal! Morok!" Iron-Scale ordered.

Orikal vaulted over the rim of the containment ring and dropped straight into the pit. His obsidian plating absorbed the fall. He crashed directly into the monster's path and braced his arms. The beast slammed into him. Orikal dug his heels into the glass floor and halted the creature's momentum entirely.

Morok landed a second later. He activated the Serpent's Crown on his brow and charged forward. He swung his fists into the monster's exposed joints. The impact shattered the crimson armor plating.

Krax seized the opening. He leaped into the air and brought his greataxe down over the creature's skull. The localized singularity flared upon impact and crushed the beast into the floor.

The monster dissolved into a flurry of digital polygons. A glowing, golden chest plate clattered against the glass bedrock.

Torix walked over and picked up the armor. He ran his fingers over the intricate runework. "Mythic-tier equipment."

Iron-Scale looked down at the glowing loot from the upper ridge. The system had replaced the hordes of weak entities with high-value targets designed to wipe out standard armies.

"The experience farm is over," Iron-Scale announced to the commanders. "Assemble your raiding parties. We are digging out the rest of those floor bosses."
