Chapter 365: Chapter 365 - 343: Gunshots on the Isolated Island

Perhaps using Celestial Gods earlier had been too draining, because Fang Chenyi now felt sharp pangs of hunger.

He reached into the woven bag again. When he pulled his hand out, it was holding a loaf of bread and a few ham sausages.

’Well, damn, I’m a regular psychic. I knew all along I was headed for a wilderness survival adventure~’

Glancing at the great white shark circling along the coast, Fang Chenyi shook his head in resignation. He never thought he’d be so tragically whisked away to a place like this.

He had observed it from the air earlier—this was, without a doubt, a deserted island.

Turning to look at the dense, primeval forest, Fang Chenyi couldn’t help but wonder, ’Could there be primitive tribes or something in there?’

Of course, as for fearsome predators like tigers and lions, Fang Chenyi was sure there wouldn’t be any. After all, the island was surrounded by a vast ocean. It was impossible for that kind of land-based beast to make its way here.

But even knowing there weren’t any large predators, Fang Chenyi had no intention of taking a stroll inside. Who knew if there were venomous snakes?

He devoured the bread in a few bites and drank a bottle of water. Only then did Fang Chenyi feel some strength return to his body.

He casually tossed the wrappers into his woven bag, and a DING from the system notification sounded in his mind.

Fang Chenyi was in no mood to pay attention to the notifications in his mind. He was preoccupied with how he could contact Qi Xiaotian and the others.

He raised his hand to check the time. It was a little after seven in the morning.

’By now, my sister and the others should have met up with Liu Yishou’s group. When they can’t find me, my little sis is definitely going to be worried sick.’

He reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone, which was soaked with seawater. Staring at the screen that wouldn’t turn on, Fang Chenyi once again felt the urge to slap himself. ’If I hadn’t been such an idiot trying to steer the parachute myself, my phone wouldn’t have ended up taking a swim in the ocean.’

’It’s not like it would’ve had a signal even if it wasn’t waterlogged, but at least there was a chance! Cell service is so advanced these days, what if I’d actually gotten a bar?’

But it was too late for regrets now. He tossed the phone onto a nearby rock to dry in the sun. ’Who knows,’ he thought, ’maybe it’ll turn on after a while.’

Having done all this, Fang Chenyi waved at the great white shark in the sea. "Go on, go on. Go find your food first. Once you’re full, you can come back for me!"

Even though he knew the great white shark couldn’t understand him, Fang Chenyi spoke anyway. At a time like this, just having someone—or something—to talk to helped relieve some of his pent-up anxiety.

Who would have thought that after Fang Chenyi said this, the great white shark would actually turn and vanish beneath the waves.

For a moment, Fang Chenyi was left wondering whether the creature had actually understood him.

Shaking his head, he stopped thinking about the great white shark and began rummaging through the woven bag.

After a good while, Fang Chenyi let out a helpless sigh:

’Sigh, why didn’t I think to pack a few satellite phones in this bag?~’

He’d rummaged through the entire woven bag. It seemed to contain everything under the sun, yet there wasn’t a single communication device to be found...

Sitting resignedly on a large rock by the shore, he stared up at the azure sky. For the first time, Fang Chenyi felt a profound sense of powerlessness.

’So what if I have the Scavenging System? So what if I own countless major corporations and am worth billions? Right now, I have absolutely no way to contact the outside world.’

However, as if the heavens were deliberately toying with him, just as he was staring blankly at the pristine blue sky, a low, oppressive rumble of thunder echoed in the distance. What followed was a sudden squall as the clouds rolled in.

This was the first time Fang Chenyi had truly witnessed it—a storm at sea really could appear out of nowhere.

He scrambled to his feet, rushed behind a large boulder, reached into his woven bag, and pulled out a one-person tent, which he deftly began to pitch.

As he worked, he couldn’t help but mutter, ’Good thing I came so well-prepared.’

SPLASH—

The tent was only half-pitched when raindrops the size of beans began to plummet from the sky.

"Holy shit! It’s raining just like that? Just give me three more minutes!"

There was nothing for it. He was already soaked to the bone anyway, so what was a little more rain? Fang Chenyi simply braved the downpour and continued pitching the tent.

Thankfully, he had already gotten halfway done. After about three more minutes, the tent was fully pitched.

Fortunately, Fang Chenyi had chosen a spot behind a massive boulder. Despite the howling gales, it was perfectly safe here.

Without a second thought, he scrambled into the tent and immediately stripped off his soaking clothes.

But just as Fang Chenyi was about to change into some dry clothes, he suddenly felt a chill beneath his feet.

He glanced down and nearly erupted in curses. Fucking hell! Because the ground behind the boulder was slightly lower, the downpour was already turning the area into a small pool.

Watching the water gush in, Fang Chenyi estimated that in a few more minutes, the water level would be up to his calves.
