However, her father had already asked her to stay behind. If she refused, then wouldn’t she look unfilial in front of her father? Han Ziyan did not want that. She pursed her lips and sighed heavily before nodding. She could not allow others to think that she was unfilial while Han Ruochen and the rest were the only ones who were filial! That would be such a shame.

"Dad, why don’t I stay behind?" Han Ruochen was still worried even though Han Ziyan agreed. Even though the woman had agreed, it was clear that she was not willing. What if she caused trouble while looking after her father at night? She was yet to overcome the fright that Han Ziyan gave her by passing out in the middle of the night when looking after her father for the first time.

She no longer harboured any hopes for Han Ziyan and Meng Yunhan. Han Ruochen knew that Han Ziyan was not willing to stay behind and take care of their father. She was worried that Han Ziyan would make a mistake if she were to leave her behind. Han Ruochen was willing to stay behind as long as her father could get better as soon as possible. "I don’t have anything to do tonight; I can stay with you."

"No need; you can go back with your brother and sister." Han Yichen refused firmly. He then turned to look at Han Ziyan and questioned, "Ziyan, are you staying or not?"

Han Ziyan was stunned when her father questioned her directly. Her face turned pale, and she felt rather upset. Why was her father questioning her as if she were not doing anything for him? She had done more than enough for him! But he still acted as if she were not doing enough for him. It was too much.

Han Ziyan was upset, but she dared not show it on her face. She pursed her lips and suppressed her anger before saying, "Of course, if you want me to stay, then I will stay and take care of you, Dad. But Dad, I just came back from the warehouse... I am feeling a bit sticky; if you don’t mind... can I go back home and take a bath? I will return as soon as possible."

"Alright." Han Yichen agreed amicably, and Han Ziyan heaved a sigh of relief. Usually, her father would cause a huge fuss and scold her for not being understanding enough. Fortunately, he did not lose his temper with her this time around.

Meng Yunhan was also upset, but there was nothing that she could do to Han Yichen. The man was injured and recovering; strictly speaking, he could do whatever he wanted, and they had to give way to him. However, it was a good thing that Han Ziyan could return home and take some rest before returning to the hospital.

Once Han Ziyan left, Meng Yunhan turned to look at Han Yichen with a blaming look in her eyes. "Old Han, what is the matter with you? Do you even know that you are scaring Ziyan? You..." Meng Yunhan wanted to ask if he knew something, which was why he was acting all stubborn and testy, but she did not dare to question Han Yichen. What if he truly did not know anything and she caused trouble for herself by letting the cat slip out of the bag?

"What? What did I do?" Han Yichen asked as he glanced at his wife. He did not answer her question but instead asked her a question in return.

"Nothing... It’s nothing." Meng Yunhan shook her head immediately. She did not know what was going on with her husband, but she was not willing to tread on the matter either. What if he lost his temper with her as well? But she was still angry. Sure enough, blood had always been thicker than water. Han Yichen was not forcing his biological children to stay with him, but was making Han Ziyan suffer all kinds of suffering. He was too much.

Han Ruochen did not say anything. She could sense that there was something amiss about her father’s attitude, but she was not foolish enough to broach the matter at the moment. Since her mother was not willing, why would she be silly enough to do it?

She was not foolish enough to think that her father had developed some sort of fondness for her adopted sister. Just now, even though her father refused to let her stay behind, he was extremely kind to her, and there was no hint of anger or loathing in his voice.

But why was her father behaving this way? She had no idea about it.

By the time Han Ziyan returned to the hospital, four hours had passed. The sky had turned dark, even though it was only eight.

"Are you alright?" Meng Yunhan hurriedly asked Han Ziyan out of concern. Meng Yunhan started to feel regretful when she saw Han Ziyan rushing back with sweat dripping down from her forehead. Her daughter had never suffered so much; how could she go back home and manage on her own?

"I am fine. What can happen to me?" Han Ziyan said in a displeased tone. As soon as she returned home, she took a bath, had some food and then went to sleep for two hours. She wanted to sleep more, but she did not have much time.

However, there was no point in taking a bath. Look at this; her clothes were sticking to her skin, and she was sweating like she had run a marathon. What was the point of running back and forth? It would have been better if she had taken a nap at the resting area instead.

"Shall I stay behind instead of you?" Seeing Han Ziyan gritting her teeth in anger, Meng Yunhan felt sorry for her. She handed a wet towel to Han Ziyan and said, "If you are not feeling well, then I can ask your dad to change the shift with me or maybe Han Ruochen."
