Chapter 469: Chapter 469 -469-The Racial Talent
Compared with the Oracle Hall itself, Daniel’s new office stood on the weaker side of the relationship.
If the hall wished to create difficulties for him, it could do so with almost no effort. Every report, inspection, and administrative decision could become an excuse for an accusation. That was why Dorek was furious.
Who had interfered with their plan?
Prince Lucian was the most likely suspect. Among the princes, he possessed the strongest connection to the Oracle Hall and the greatest ability to influence appointments related to it.
Daniel, however, showed no anxiety. He had already begun considering how to use the position.
Before he could explain, a system notification sounded in his ears.
[Notice: You may now select a Racial Talent.]
[You may designate any talent ability you currently possess as the Racial Talent. Every individual belonging to your race will gain the corresponding talent. You will retain complete control over it and may grant or revoke the talent from any chosen individual.]
[Alternatively, you may randomly draw a new talent. The selected talent will be obtained immediately by you and every member of your race.]
[Please choose the method by which the Racial Talent will be acquired.]
Daniel immediately understood the two options.
The first method allowed him to choose an ability he already possessed and share it with all humanity. Its greatest advantage was control. He could decide who received the talent, who was excluded, and whose access would be revoked. It would give him an extraordinary degree of authority over the entire human race.
The disadvantage was that Daniel himself would gain no new benefit. He already possessed the chosen talent.
The second method was a random draw. It would create a completely new talent and grant it to Daniel as well as every human. If the result were powerful, Daniel’s own strength and humanity’s potential would rise together.
The risk was obvious.
A random talent could be useless. If the system produced a weak or highly specialized ability, the opportunity would be wasted permanently.
Daniel considered the matter only briefly before choosing the first option.
Humanity needed a reliable foundation more than he needed a gamble.
"For the current human race, the most suitable talent is the War God Physique."
He confirmed the selection.
The War God Physique became humanity’s Racial Talent.
At that same moment, throughout the Myriad-Race Cosmos, a brilliant notification rang in the ears of every human player.
[Ding! Player Daniel has designated his talent ability, War God Physique, as the Human Racial Talent!]
[Ding! Congratulations to all human players. You have obtained the Racial Talent: War God Physique!]
At first, most players were confused. Then they opened their talent panels and read the new ability.
Their eyes widened.
Hearts began pounding across countless worlds.
"What is this? I feel as though my combat potential just exploded!"
"Daniel is truly the eternal god of humanity. He actually shared a talent of this level with everyone!"
"No wonder he has always been so powerful. He possessed something this terrifying from the beginning. Now we can finally benefit from it too!"
"My attributes, recovery, and battle instincts have all improved. This is absurd!"
Excited discussions flooded every player channel. Guilds began recalculating their combat formations. Lone players rushed toward dangerous regions they had previously avoided. Entire human factions suddenly possessed far greater confidence in competing against the other races.
Daniel, separated from them by another era and spacetime, naturally heard none of those reactions.
For him, the decision was strategic.
The War God Physique would raise the strength of every human player. Stronger players meant a stronger faction, greater territorial expansion, and more resources flowing toward the civilization he controlled. Furthermore, Daniel could revoke the talent at will. Anyone who betrayed humanity or opposed him could lose the gift instantly.
The Racial Talent strengthened the human race while also increasing Daniel’s control over it.
For his next opportunity, however, he intended to choose the random method.
"This selection provides a secure foundation. Next time, I can afford to gamble on a new talent. Perhaps the result will be exceptional."
Once the process was complete, Daniel returned his attention to Dorek.
The prince was still visibly angry about the Holy See’s decree.
Daniel also believed that someone had acted against him, but political hostility had become ordinary. In a succession struggle, every faction attempted to obstruct the others. Minor sabotage was almost polite compared with the assassinations already launched against him.
The only uncertain question was whether Prince Lucian had personally arranged the appointment.
After considering it, Daniel decided the answer did not matter. Whoever had placed him in the position had also given him a legitimate reason to enter the Oracle Hall. He would use that opportunity.
"You still seem angry," Daniel said.
Dorek gritted his teeth.
"Teacher, you are the foundation of my entire faction. How could I not be angry? If anything happens to you, I am finished."
He stepped closer, his voice filled with urgency.
"Now that you have accepted the appointment, they can attack you regardless of what you do. If you act, they will accuse you of exceeding your authority. If you do nothing, they will accuse you of neglecting your duties. They need only identify a few supposed errors in your inspections to implicate our entire faction."
Dorek’s expression grew increasingly severe.
"A stain upon your record becomes a stain upon all of us. They could use it to declare that our faction lacks the qualifications to compete for the throne. How can I remain calm?"
As he spoke, his anxiety rose. Yet when he looked at Daniel’s completely composed face, his own anger gradually faded.
"Teacher, why are you not worried? Have you already found a way to break the trap?"
Daniel smiled and shrugged.
"Do not waste any opportunity. Since I now possess this ceremonial office, I also possess a lawful reason to investigate the Oracle Hall."
Dorek was startled.
"Teacher, the Oracle Hall is Prince Lucian’s territory. You may not fully understand how dangerous it is. Almost every Oracle-grade expert serving the empire has some connection to that place, including numerous high-stage Oracle-grade powerhouses. Its internal relationships are more complicated than those of the imperial court itself. The empire’s foundation was built around it."
He continued hurriedly.
"Lucian possesses the greatest cultivation talent among all the princes. He is also the strongest. He has already reached the peak of Divine-grade and may break through to Oracle-grade at any moment. If you enter the Oracle Hall alone, he and his supporters will certainly target you."
Dorek looked at Daniel with genuine concern.
"Please reconsider."
Daniel understood the fear behind those words. The entire Dorek faction now depended upon him. None of them wanted their greatest strategist and strongest hidden pillar to walk voluntarily into the heart of an enemy camp.
But Daniel had no intention of avoiding danger merely because others believed it existed.
The Oracle Hall might be Lucian’s foundation.
That was precisely why Daniel wanted to enter it.
