Chapter 526: Chapter 526 - 333: Jiangg Ruxue and the Assistant’s Absurdity (Part 2)
"Do you think Chen will believe that?" Jiangg Ning asked lightly, raising an eyebrow.
"Never mind. I don’t think he’d believe it anyway."
Jiangg Yao shrugged. But none of that was the point. The real main event was the birthday gift that had cost the two sisters a fortune.
There was no way Chen Yuan could have guessed what they had done to celebrate the first of his birthdays since they had started dating.
Jiangg Ning and Jiangg Yao had each put in over 700,000 to buy the latest Panamera Black Warrior edition!
They had truly spared no expense!
At least, that was the case for Jiangg Yao. She had poured in nearly all of her income since she started live-streaming, and now she was a broke little pauper with almost nothing left to her name.
It might sound a bit over the top.
It was just a simple nineteenth birthday, so why celebrate it with such extravagance and luxury? This was spoiling Chen Yuan a little too much.
But that wasn’t the whole story. Initially, when Chen Yuan had driven that Mercedes home, he’d told the sisters it was a company car. That’s when they started planning to get him a car for his birthday, something convenient for his commute.
Besides, for a guy, a car is the ultimate toy he can’t get enough of.
So they decided to order an entry-level sports car. It wouldn’t cost too much and would be more than enough for daily use.
They had already placed the order and were waiting for the car to be built when they unexpectedly found out about Chen Yuan’s family background and the fact that he was the company’s chairman.
The sisters put their heads together and decided the little sports car just wouldn’t do anymore. After all, it only cost a little over 300,000, which didn’t quite match Chen Yuan’s status.
Wouldn’t the other employees laugh at him if he drove that to the company?
So they transferred the order to someone else and started looking for a new option.
Whenever they had free time, they visited a lot of dealerships. Since girls generally aren’t as knowledgeable in this area, they could only listen to the salespeople and ask their friends for opinions. As a result, the budget just kept climbing...
Finally, inspired by a meme—"I don’t spend the money I save; I’m saving it to buy my husband a Panamera"—they grit their teeth, made up their minds, and decided to dip into their savings to make this first, highly significant birthday as extravagant as possible.
They decided to order a Panamera!
Porsche was a brand both sisters were very familiar with. Not only was it reliable, but they were also repeat customers. The Cayenne parked in their underground garage was the first car Jiangg Ning had ever bought, and she’d been driving it ever since she graduated from college.
Jiangg Yao was truly willing to splurge. The moment the decision was made, she took out all of her savings, which genuinely shocked Jiangg Ning.
That was likely why she had been so desperate for Chen Yuan to give her an answer; she was feeling threatened.
Finding this latest model also took a great deal of effort. The production cycle for a new order was far too long, so they had to look for someone willing to transfer their existing order, asking their Porsche salesman to keep an eye out.
As luck would have it.
A pretty young woman happened to be looking to transfer her order, and the car met all their specifications.
They snatched it up immediately.
Chen Yuan had planned to give the sisters gifts, and he had, surprising them both. But weren’t Ningning and Yaoyao also preparing for his birthday with all their hearts?
After all, Chen Yuan was the first boy they had ever loved with all their might, and he would be the last.
The value of that love couldn’t be measured in money.
The sisters’ thinking was simple: as long as they were with him, Chen Yuan would never have to envy anyone.
In the bedroom.
Completely oblivious to all this, Chen Yuan smacked his lips, rolled over, and fell back asleep. He was so tired he didn’t even have the strength to open his eyes.
...
「Far away in Mingzhu City, thousands of miles distant, the international metropolis remained brightly lit even late at night.」
In countless office buildings, people were still hard at work in front of their computers. A cup of coffee to stay awake was a certainty on their desks. Occasionally, they would glance up at the dark sky outside, rub their aching necks, and then bury their heads in their work once more.
In a building on Gongming Road in Mingzhu City.
Inside an office.
A woman, dressed seductively and wearing bright red lipstick, sat there. Despite the weather, she still wore a hip-hugging skirt and nude stockings that clung to her skin, her legs pressed together beneath the desk.
She stared, motionless, at the report in front of her.
She had been holding that pose, like a statue, for an unknown length of time.
The scene was bizarre.
The woman at the desk was impeccably made up and possessed an undeniable, feminine charm, yet her eyes were utterly devoid of life.
KNOCK KNOCK—
The sudden knock startled the glamorous woman.
The first thing she did upon snapping out of her trance was to grab a nearby file and use it to cover the report on her desk.
"Come in," Jiangg Ruxue said, her voice low.
It was indeed Jiangg Ruxue, still at the company so late at night instead of being home. The building she was in was the fruit of her life’s work for more than a decade: Meiruxue Skincare Limited Company.
Her assistant pushed the door open and entered.
"President Jiangg, you’re still here so late? Did you need me for something...?"
"It’s nothing much. I just missed you," Jiangg Ruxue said, a rare smile gracing her lips. The icy expression on her face thawed as she beckoned to her young assistant.
Upon seeing the smile, a flicker of hard-to-notice awkwardness crossed the simple-looking young woman’s face.
After a moment’s hesitation, she walked over.
The moment she reached Jiangg Ruxue’s side, her hand was caught, and she was pulled into the woman’s embrace.
"President Jiangg..."
"Has work been tiring lately?" Jiangg Ruxue asked tenderly, stroking the assistant’s cheek. "I know your workload has been heavy. You’ve been working hard."
"Not at all. It’s good to be busy. I’m perfectly capable of handling the tasks you’ve given me."
"Well, I have one more task for you right now."
"Please, go ahead, President Jiangg."
"I’ve been working all day and my neck is getting really stiff. How about you give me a massage?"
"Of course," the assistant said, quickly freeing herself from the embrace. She gave an ingratiating smile as her hands moved toward Jiangg Ruxue’s shoulders.
Unexpectedly, Jiangg Ruxue stopped her.
"Not here. Let’s go into the private room."
"Alright... I understand, President Jiangg."
A deep blush suddenly spread across the young assistant’s face. She lowered her head, not daring to meet Jiangg Ruxue’s gaze.
...
She thought she had hidden her secrets well, that no one knew. But besides the two sisters, quite a few people in the company knew the truth.
Over the past few years, she had gone through so many assistants. They came and they went, a constantly revolving door.
Many had used the position as a stepping stone to rise quickly, eventually leaving the company for better opportunities.
She had called her assistant in so late for this very reason.
...
「Half an hour later.」
The young assistant emerged, her clothes in disarray. Jiangg Ruxue was nowhere to be seen; she was presumably still resting on the bed inside.
The girl wasn’t very old. She did her best to calm the flush in her cheeks, leaning against the wall and taking deep breaths for a long moment.
A moment later, she glanced back at the slightly ajar door.
Seeing that there was no movement from within, the shyness on the young assistant’s face vanished. In an instant, her expression turned cold and her gait returned to normal.
She strode leisurely toward the desk, her entire demeanor a world away from what it had been just moments before.
After rummaging for a moment, her eyes locked onto the report pinned beneath the file on the desk. She opened it, scanned it quickly, then pulled a miniature camera from her pocket and took several pictures. CLICK. CLICK. CLICK.
Lying in the other room, Jiangg Ruxue was completely oblivious to all of this.
Once she was done, the assistant left quickly. As she walked out, she didn’t forget to flash a sinister, mocking smile.
