Chapter 512: Chapter 512 - 326: Don’t Be So Close to Your Brother-in-Law, Yaoyao
The person selling tickets wasn’t so much a staff member as a local resident.
Judging by the woman’s pajamas and damp hair, you could tell she had just woken up. She probably plugged in the sausage roller and went off to do other things.
"Looks like we’re in luck. We’ve got the whole mountain to ourselves," Chen Yuan said, winking at the two sisters.
"Mm, that’s nice," Jiangg Ning said with a nod.
"We won’t even have to fight anyone for a squat toilet! This is bliss," Jiangg Yao said, flashing her pearly whites in a cute smile.
"You know, you don’t have to force a reply if you have nothing to say, little sister."
"None of your business! Wait, no, I’m just wondering why you keep picking on me today."
A series of TAP, TAP, TAPS sounded as the middle-aged woman, having tied up her hair, descended the steps.
"I didn’t expect anyone to come at high noon. Lately, it’s all been people climbing at night to see the sunrise, so I went to take care of my own things," she said as she came down the stairs.
Chen Yuan took out his student ID and walked up to the window.
"It’s alright, we’re not in a hurry. There are three of us, one college student. Do you have a half-price student discount?"
"Students get in free. Adults are twenty each."
"Okay, great."
Chen Yuan took out his phone to pay, but the middle-aged ticket seller didn’t even glance at his student ID. She just tossed out a "No lighters or smoking on the mountain," then tore off two pre-printed tickets and handed them over without even asking for an ID number.
"Let’s go, I got the tickets."
After getting the tickets, Chen Yuan called out to the two sisters, who were huddled together some distance away.
"Young Master, I want a roasted sausage~" Jiangg Yao whined coquettishly, drawing out the last syllable.
The moment she said that, the middle-aged woman sitting in the ticket booth immediately poked her head out.
"All-meat ones are five, corn and original are two each. They’re freshly grilled and piping hot—"
A gentle breeze suddenly rustled through, sending green waves rippling through the mountain forest.
Jiangg Yao stood by the sausage roller, leaning over to peer at the greasy sausages inside the glass case. Beside her, Jiangg Ning tugged on her arm, reminding her that they had just eaten not long ago.
The hems of their clothes fluttered and their dark hair danced in the wind. As they spoke, the older sister wore a cold expression while the younger one whined playfully.
The same delicate faces, but completely different outfits.
The middle-aged woman came out from the shipping container, ready to make a sale. But as she got closer and took a good look, she froze, her eyes widening in astonishment as she stared.
"Oh my god! How do you two look exactly alike?!" she exclaimed in amazement.
"Because they’re twins," Chen Yuan said with a shrug.
"I’ve seen twins before, but never a pair so lovely and fresh. Truly beautiful," the middle-aged woman said, clicking her tongue in wonder as she stared intently at Ningning and Yaoyao.
It was as if she were determined to find some difference in their faces.
"Thank you for the compliment, ma’am," Yaoyao said with a polite smile.
"Ningning, do you want one?"
Wanting to make sure neither of them felt left out, Chen Yuan asked.
"No, it’ll make me fat."
Jiangg Ning had originally wanted to say it was junk food and that Yaoyao could have it, but saying something like that in front of the woman selling it would have been tactless. So, she chose a more diplomatic excuse.
"Then I’ll have this grilled all-meat sausage."
"Aiyo, you’re so skinny, young lady, and you’re worried about getting fat? You could gain twenty jin and no one would even notice," the woman said with a grin, handing over the sausage on its wooden skewer. "Here you go!"
Chen Yuan took out his phone to pay again.
Meanwhile, Jiangg Yao had already taken a bite and mumbled, "So hot."
The middle-aged woman shifted her gaze from the two sisters to Chen Yuan’s face, tilting her head back and forth to study him.
After a moment, she asked, "Are you three siblings, traveling together?"
Her tone was full of curiosity, but the question wasn’t annoying. It was like the kind of friendly inquiry from an older neighborhood auntie. In fact, Chen Yuan felt she was just like the lady from two courtyards over back in his hometown; they even had similar face shapes.
"Not siblings, hehehe," Jiangg Yao giggled, taking the lead by linking her arm with Chen Yuan’s without a hint of shyness. "This is my boyfriend."
"That explains it. I thought you sisters looked alike, but you don’t resemble this young man at all. I’ve been selling tickets here for years, and this is the first time I’ve seen such a perfect, good-looking couple."
"Is that so?"
Jiangg Yao was over the moon from just a few words of praise. The smile on her face couldn’t have been sweeter as she hugged Chen Yuan’s arm even tighter.
Chen Yuan shot an awkward glance at Ningning, then quickly looked away.
’Why is this woman so talkative?’ he thought. ’And everything she says is exactly what Jiangg Yao loves to hear.’
Though it seemed like Yaoyao was talking to the woman, she was actually stealing glances at her sister, especially when she noticed her sister’s expression growing colder and her face darkening.
The mischievous smile on Jiangg Yao’s lips widened.
She was gloating inside.
"Yaoyao, stop messing around. Can’t you see your brother-in-law is blushing? Let go."
Suddenly, Jiangg Ning parted her red lips and gracefully walked over. With a slight tug, she pried Jiangg Yao and Chen Yuan apart, giving her sister a little shove to the side.
"Hey, hey, hey?!" Jiangg Yao stumbled back a couple of steps, almost falling over.
"Ma’am, my sister was just joking with you. This is my husband. We’re already married. My sister can’t find a boyfriend, so she gets embarrassed and likes to joke around using her brother-in-law."
"Oh, is that so?" the woman said, her face a picture of sudden understanding.
"Jiangg Ning, what nonsense are you talking about? He’s obviously my—mmph... my husband."
Yaoyao’s face turned bright red with frustration. The quick-reacting Ningning had clamped a hand over her mouth, and she couldn’t get a single word out. She just struggled and squirmed as if she had suffered a terrible injustice.
Seeing this, and fearing Jiangg Yao would blurt out something for the gossipy woman to hear, Chen Yuan quickly grabbed both sisters and started pulling them up the steps.
