Chapter 609: Chapter 609: Timeline
The Cosmic Sea within Liora’s body was not lacking in anything.
Whether it was in terms of Laws, energy, matter, or even actual living beings, it had far surpassed its state during its conception.
This had allowed Liora’s strength to skyrocket despite only a short time passing since then.
Even so, she had yet to undergo a true qualitative transformation.
Liora previously wondered how she could achieve it.
But after coming into contact with the cultivation civilization, hearing about the Eras, and watching the River of Time descend into reality once more, a sudden idea struck her.
How did the Origin Sea operate?
It was governed by the Supreme Laws, which her Predation talent had already "replaced" within the Cosmic Sea, regulating everything inside of it.
However, there was still something missing.
The power of time. Or rather, the power to anchor the events that took place within the Cosmic Sea, thus creating a true timeline.
Other people might not have been able to do anything to fix this even if they were to notice this issue.
But Liora, having practiced the technique of Snake of Time—and now Dragon of Time—could solve it from the source.
Watching as the Dragon of Time integrated with the Cosmic Sea, like the final puzzle piece falling into place, a faint smile appeared on Liora’s face.
But very quickly, that smile was wiped out.
Not because something went wrong, but because of the changes taking place within her.
Immediately, the brilliance of the Cosmic Sea was significantly strengthened.
Every star, every world, every speck of dust seemed to have transformed greatly from the Dragon of Time’s integration, being pushed onto their next level.
Even the few living beings, the silver dragon, the plants of the Cultivation Star, and the human figures in the Human Emperor Star, received great benefits.
Of course, the one who benefited the most was none other than Liora.
As the Dragon of Time fused with the Cosmic Sea, she seemed to have fallen into a state of enlightenment.
Her consciousness was infinitely elevated, rising through higher dimensions, until she could see an illusory river towering above the Cosmic Sea.
Dragon of Time!
Or rather, now, it would be more accurate to call it the River of Time!
As Liora watched this technique morph, taking the place where the River of Time would have occupied in the real Origin Sea, she felt that she had awakened an unknown ability.
Staring at the Dragon of Time and the illusory scenes within its droplets, she instinctively stretched her hand and gently flicked one of them.
There, an egg could be seen resting at the center of a colossal continent.
The Dragon Law permeated throughout it, drilling into the egg as though nourishing it.
It was a familiar scene for Liora. The moment of the silver dragon’s birth, who to this day was the only conscious being within this space.
However, as Liora’s fingertips touched this droplet, the scene before her rapidly changed.
The lone egg split into two under her command.
Although their power weakened significantly as a result, the two eggs together seemed far more complete than a single one.
One egg became golden, emitting a holy and pure aura, while the other was pitch-black, seemingly having inherited everything evil within this world.
Liora did not interfere any further with this scene.
Soon, the droplet fell back onto the river and disappeared onto the horizon.
Her attention shifted to another one of the many droplets.
This time, she faced two different scenes.
One she was familiar with again.
It depicted the silver dragon breaking out of its shell, opening its mouth to proclaim its True Name, and receiving the Dragon Law’s Blessing.
The other was different.
Two dragons could be seen. One golden and one pitch-black, one holy and one evil.
As soon as these dragons were born, their auras clashed violently, as though they were natural enemies.
The moment she witnessed this scene, Liora gently pointed at it.
Immediately, the scene with the silver dragon as its protagonist shattered into fragments before vanishing completely.
Liora turned her focus onto another droplet before making her choice.
Then another. And another.
Again and again.
Scenes continuously flashed within Liora’s eyes, and she seemed to be choosing her favorite.
It was only an unknown amount of time later that she finally stopped.
Her phantom stopped staring at the Dragon of Time.
Its gaze shifted somewhere else, piercing through the entire sea and landing on one of the many worlds within it.
The roar of dragons immediately rang in her ears.
A fierce battle was currently going on.
On one side was an army of holy dragons who appeared to have descended from the Divine Kingdom, and on the other side were ferocious evil dragons that seemed to have crawled from the depths of Hell.
The silver dragon was nowhere to be seen.
It was not that he had died or had escaped, but that he had never existed at all.
His very existence had unknowingly been replaced, as though the two dragons had been born in his stead.
In fact, this was the truth.
"It’s said that once a Devil completely removes their Throne from the River of Time and places it on its banks, they have completely escaped time’s shackles."
"As long as they are willing to pay a certain price or suffer backlash, they can take action and change the past according to their will."
"The practice of Ancient Devils focuses exactly on that. They have to imprint their existence into the past until they turn truly ’ancient’."
This was where the name "Ancient" Devils came from rather than their infinite lifespan.
The more powerful an Ancient Devil was, the more ancient they would become.
From being able to imprint themselves a few thousand years into the past, to tracing millions of years, and even back to the very beginning of the Origin Sea.
This was their ultimate goal that all Ancient Devils chased and the requirement before they eventually took the final leap to become a Prince or Princess of the Demon World.
As soon as these thoughts surfaced in her mind, Liora shook her head.
Although she seemed to have obtained a similar ability, this was only within the boundaries of the Cosmic Sea.
Once she left this place, she would completely lose the ability to manipulate time like that, turning back into an "ordinary" Archdevil.
"However, becoming an Ancient Devil is no longer that far away from me...", she muttered.
At that thought, her consciousness departed from the Cosmic Sea.
In the outside world, Liora opened her eyes and stared at the real River of Time above her.
More precisely, her gaze settled on her Throne resting inside, which was rapidly moving toward the waters’ surface.
