Chapter 515: Chapter 515: Gifts
After getting everything sorted with the navigation, Elion spent most of the journey lazing around with the talkative Aria, Zenith, and Mira.
Isla did much of the listening, as expected, but she eventually excused herself and headed toward the workshop.
’I will have to go and see what she is working on,’ Elion thought as he watched her leave.
There was no better way to support her than to continue asking about her projects, prospects, and future plans. On that note, he also needed to ask whether it would be possible for her to make a few things for him.
She would probably be happy if he did. It would undoubtedly make her feel as though she held an essential place in his life, and that was simply the kind of woman she was.
Elion turned his attention back toward the others.
"Oh, before I forget, I have some gifts for you two."
He looked toward Aria and Mira.
"Really? Show me! What is it?" Aria asked, her eyes immediately sparkling with excitement.
Elion laughed at her cute reaction. Aria was as endearing as always, and the way she reacted only made him want to tease her.
An item flashed into his hand, but he immediately hid it behind his back.
"Mira first," he said with a teasing smile.
Aria’s mouth fell open before she plopped back down, her cheeks puffing into a pout. "You’re messing with me?" she realized.
Elion laughed.
"Maybe."
He gestured toward Mira with his index finger.
Aria cursed beneath her breath and waited impatiently as Mira walked over to Elion, laying her soft ass comfortably on his lap, and held out her palm.
"What do you have for me, darling?"
She had already seen what was in his hand during the brief moment before he hid it, but she had no problem playing along.
Elion put one hand around her waist, holding her gently, and brought his hand forward and dropped a golden necklace into her palm.
The necklace was formed from a delicate chain of interlocking golden links, each one so finely crafted that they seemed to blend seamlessly into the next. Hanging from its center was a clear, teardrop-shaped crystal encased within a pair of small golden wings.
Faint streams of silver light moved continuously inside the crystal, almost as though a tiny piece of the night sky had been trapped within it.
Even without knowing its abilities, Mira could immediately tell that it was no ordinary piece of jewelry.
Her fingers curled gently around the necklace as she looked back at Elion.
"This is for me?"
"No, I just wanted you to hold it for a moment," Elion replied with a perfectly serious expression.
Mira narrowed her eyes. "You have been spending too much time with Zenith."
"Do not blame me for that," Zenith complained from the couch. "He was already like this when I met him."
Elion laughed and rested one arm comfortably around Mira’s waist. "It is yours."
The artifact’s information appeared in Mira’s head the moment she focused on the necklace.
[Seraph’s Eye]
[Grade: Legendary]
[Description: A sacred necklace forged from Heavenly Gold and the crystallized essence of an Ethereal Seraph. It greatly increases the wearer’s total mana capacity and accelerates the speed at which spells are formed and released.]
[Abilities:]
[Ethereal Wings: Allows the wearer to manifest a pair of incorporeal wings, granting unrestricted flight. The speed and duration of flight depend on the wearer’s mana and control.]
[Seraphic Guard: Passively forms a protective barrier whenever the wearer is exposed to an attack capable of causing serious harm. The barrier draws upon the necklace’s stored mana before consuming the wearer’s own.]
[Appraisal: Allows the wearer to discern the quality, grade, materials, and approximate value of most objects. It can also be used to estimate the strength and general level of living beings.]
[Eye of Truth: Allows the wearer to sense deliberate lies, concealed intentions, and attempts at deception. Its effectiveness depends on the difference between the wearer’s mental strength and that of the target.]
Mira silently read through the information in her head
By the time she reached the final ability, the calm expression she normally maintained had disappeared completely.
She looked down at the necklace again, her fingers tightening slightly around its chain.
"This is..."
"Useful?" Elion suggested.
"Absurd," Mira corrected.
Aria leaned forward impatiently. "What does it do?" Mira glanced toward her before reading the abilities aloud.
With every ability she mentioned, Aria’s eyes widened further. By the time Mira finished, even Zenith had stopped pretending not to be interested.
"It gives her wings?" Aria asked. "And it can tell when someone is lying?"
"Yes."
"And it can appraise people and items?"
Mira nodded once again.
Aria slowly turned toward Elion. "What exactly did you get me?" Now she was even more impatient to know what she would be receiving from him.
Hopefully it was something as beautiful as Celeste’s ring and Mira’s necklace here, and equally useful.
The anticipation was killing her!
"You will find out when it is your turn."
"It had better be just as good."
Elion raised a brow. "Is that how you respond when someone offers you a gift?"
Aria immediately corrected her posture and placed both hands politely upon her lap. "I will gratefully accept whatever you have prepared for me."
Despite what she said, there was no way he would give her something that was lacking, right!?
Her eyes remained fixed upon his hand, waiting for that moment when something eventually showed itself in his hand.
Elion ignored her obvious impatience and looked back toward Mira. "Turn around."
Mira placed the necklace back into his hand before moving upon his lap and gathering her long hair over one shoulder.
Elion carefully placed the chain around her neck and fastened it behind her. The moment the necklace rested against her chest, the crystal resting just between the crevice of her breasts shined brightly.
The golden chain shortened slightly, adjusting itself until the winged pendant rested comfortably against her skin.
