Chapter 1471: Chapter 1471: Teleportation Arrays And Rune Reading
I only just realised that I didn’t tell Chancellor Vastraea about the demon pendant when I returned to the dorms.
Oh well... I guess I’ll tell her next time or something... Maybe I can find them myself without causing too big of an uproar, especially since she would most likely make this into a big thing since she knows I’m the one that is looking for it.
Like... I can totally imagine her turning the entire school upside down because the supposed apostle of her goddess wanted to find that pendant... And then end up causing more damage in the process...
You know what... I think it’s actually a good thing that I didn’t tell her about it now...
I’ll just try to find it on my own and if it takes longer than a few days, I’ll rely on the Chancellor for it.
Besides... My girls should know about this so I will have their help on this as well anyway. Shouldn’t be that hard to find one guy, right?
I mean... He should be a first year student here just like us so we already narrowed down the possible people that have that pendant.
That shouldn’t be too hard right?
I returned to the dorm with my girls immediately piling on me and moaning about having breakfast without them.
Obviously they were just saying it and not actually complaining since they’ve done this with me a few times before.
I let them cuddle and touch me until they were happy before I took out my egg again, otherwise they would have been zapped by it for touching it.
"Where did you go so early in the morning, Aster?" Lisa asked, her face rubbing against mine while her tail curled around my thigh.
"I got called to meet the professors to settle my apprenticeship. I ended up getting apprenticed to the Grand Chancellor herself, actually."
Emilia hummed, "That’s a pretty big deal, Boss. I don’t think I’ve heard of any first year students being made her apprentice before. In fact, the last time a student was apprenticed to the Head Chancellor was perhaps... Thirty years ago?"
I blinked at her before making a face, "Wait... What do you mean by that? Are there no other apprentices under her right now?"
Lisa shook her head, "Nope~ That means you’re the only apprentice under her right now, Aster! Congratulations!"
"Erm... Is that a big thing?"
My Infrid opened her mouth again but paused before snapping it shut.
I thought that wasn’t a good sign until she hummed and spoke again, "Hmm... I would have said yes because any other person getting an apprenticeship under the Grand Chancellor would set them up for life as they would basically be guaranteed privilege wherever they go but... It makes no difference to you, Aster."
I blinked, "I assume this is because..."
"Of your family, yes. But if you’re asking from a normal student’s point of view then yes, it is definitely a really big thing."
Right... That explains, I guess.
"Well, what else is there to do here while waiting for school to start?" I asked.
Without even wasting a second, Lisa answered immediately, "We can just have sex~"
Of course I went ahead to bop her on the head, making her let out a yelp of surprise.
Katsuki gave a more helpful suggestion, "We could take a look at the Dungeons, Mistress."
Oh right~ Since we’re already here anyway, we might as well just go and take a look at what they’re like right?
After all, I have a feeling we might be diving into them pretty often once school starts.
The others didn’t seem to mind so we headed out to look for where the Dungeons were located.
When we got to the entrance of the dorm, I found Kaitlyn floating around the entrance, the Rizzie Dorm Supervisor hovering in front of the doors and looking like she was expecting someone.
She spotted my group and flew over to me, her wings fluttering behind her.
"Ohhhh~ Hello Aster! It’s a nice day today, isn’t it?"
"Hello Kaitlyn. What are you doing out here?"
"Hmmm? The new students today will be arriving soon so I’m here to wait for them!"
Oh right, there’s still new students arriving on the airships as well.
The Rizzie spun in the air again, "So where are you headed to, Aster?! Tell me, tell me!"
It’s like looking at an excited little sister who wants to hear about her big siblings’ plans for the day.
"We heard that there’s Dungeons within the Academy grounds so we were thinking of heading there to check it out. Do you know where it is?"
She spun through the air excitedly, "Oh, oh, yes, yes! First years like you also like to dive in them for the thrills of it! There’s several of them that are scattered around the smaller floating islands around the main island! You can just make use of the teleportation arrays arranged around the place to teleport there!"
I blinked at her, "Teleportation arrays?"
She nodded her head excitedly, "That’s right, that’s right! Come with meeeee~"
She started flying through the air and led us to a platform that had a magic circle inscribed on it.
I stared at the magic circle and that was when I realised I could read the runes and I immediately understood this was a magic circle designed for teleportation.
Not only that, I also understood that it was linked to other teleportation circles and I even understood that there were certain teleportation circles that required some kind of authentication to be used but it was still linked together nevertheless.
Additionally, I knew how to use it even without Kaitlyn explaining it to me.
"Tadah!" Kaitlyn gestured to the platform proudly. "This is where you can go to move around the Academy quickly! There’s one of these in all the major locations!"
I turned to Katsuki, wondering if she already knew about this and why she did not tell me about them this morning.
The fact that she averted her gaze basically told me she already knew about it and chose not to tell me. She wanted to just spend time walking with me I see... So cute.
Odeta looked at the circle curiously, "How do you use it?"
Before Kaitlyn could answer, I found myself answering in her stead.
"Just step on it and you will be able to know where you can teleport."
Everyone turned to me.
Kaitlyn giggled, "Oh! You’ve already used one before? Ehehehe~ That’s right! Then go on ahead! I have to make sure I don’t miss out on any new students coming in!"
She then flew back over to the front doors of the dormitory, leaving me with my girls who were giving me expectant looks since they probably thought I used them in the morning and figured it out.
Katsuki looked up at me quizzically, clearly wondering how I knew.
I scratched my cheek, "Actually... I got a blessing from Isre today thanks to being the Chancellor’s apprentice... She gave me a blessing where I’m able to read the runes used for magic circles so... I knew how it worked by looking at it..."
Lisa gasped, "Ohhh!! Aster! Do you know how big of a cheat that is?! Ehehehe! As expected of you to be blessed like that!"
Delmare tilted her head, "Umm... Is that a really big deal?"
Lisa nodded, "That’s right! There’s a lot of things you can do with magic circles but you need to understand the runes to use them! If your runes don’t make sense, then the magic circle wouldn’t work either! It’s an entirely new language to learn that the Gods created and there are runes that have been lost to history which makes it difficult to carve runes exactly how you might want them! They’re really useful and versatile for someone who knows how to use them! Dungeons also have them so if you can read those runes, you could even figure out and disarm traps easily!"
Oh, that actually sounds pretty useful.
And here I was thinking that the runes would just let me make fancy circles that do stuff which I could probably also be capable of doing if I learned the magic skills myself.
I then led the way to step onto the platform, watching it light up as my girls also followed after me.
The image of the Academy seen from above suddenly appeared in my head with some of the places lit up with a marker which I assumed were other teleportation arrays that I could teleport to.
Not only that, the magic circle also highlighted each marker to have a name of the teleportation array and it only took me a moment to find the marker with the name "Dungeon Nexus" emblazoned above it.
Guess that’s where we’re going.
I focused on that position and the magic circle lit up, transporting us straight towards it.
Now that I think about it... Doesn’t this mean I can also create my own teleportation array?
