Chapter 1199: Chapter 1199 - 1199

Hearing what Aerial said, Roxene followed along the string of spiritual energy she had sent out to confirm what she had found.

'She's right! Marcus is right in the middle of this thing.' Roxene thought after finding his core.

His body was wrapped up in what appeared to be a blood red cocoon that had veins shooting out of it that connected him to the form of the Doomsday Worm.

"Got it. I'll split him straight in half then."

Quillon readied his sword to slice his way through to Marcus, but Lyra stopped him.

"Wait! Let me glimpse into the future first. I haven't seen one where we do this yet."

Lyra's eyes glowed with mana and she looked into the strands of fate, focusing on the ones where they cut their way into Marcus' core.

While it was maybe only half a minute in total, to Roxene every second felt like hours.

It especially did not help when Marcus sent more tendrils after them, and this time they were not just trying to consume them. Now they were firing off magic spells in an effort to weaken them.

"I found it!" Lyra yelled, reaching out and grabbing an invisible strand of energy.

A moment later, she coughed up a mouthful of blood. Using her Future Sight power so much had taken a toll on her.

Still, Roxene felt elated to hear that she had actually discovered a future in which they brought Marcus back to his senses.

Considering all she had gotten so far when trying to connect with him were base emotions like rage and hunger, Roxene had started to lose hope in saving him.

However, when asked about how they could reach Marcus and bring him back, Lyra hesitated to explain and glanced over at Quillon.

He did not notice since he was busy fending off Marcus' attacks against them, but Roxene and Aerial certainly did. Whatever future Lyra saw, it likely put him in a great deal of danger.

"Do any of us die?" Roxene asked.

"Not from what is saw. But it wasn't complete. Just a couple of minutes into the future. I don't know what happens after that."

Lyra knew she could not allow indecision to take over. Every second that went by without them acting made it more difficult to realize the future that she had seen.

It had been thousands away from the most likely possibilities. Finding it had truthfully be a stroke of luck. The strand had suddenly stood out to her despite being so far away.

Following it had been astronomically difficult as it was considered a near impossible future to reach. Everything would have to go just right for them to save Marcus.

"Listen closely. There cannot be a single misstep or I'm not sure if we'll be able to reach the future I saw. Here is what we each need to do…"

Roxene listened closely as Lyra explained the plan.

A lot of it was insanely dangerous, and it became clear why Quillon would be the most at risk. To save Marcus, he would have to use his second Supreme Skill.

It was not something to be used lightly and could very well kill him.

In comparison, the rest of them had easier roles to play, though that did not mean they were not fraught with danger as well.

"Okay. Let's go." Roxene said, dashing forward along with Aerial and Lyra.

The three of them were making their way back towards Marcus' head, but not because they needed to do something there to connect with him.

It instead had to do with the reptilian monstrosity he was currently fighting.

In the future Lyra had seen, it needed to be dead before they Roxene and Aerial reached out to Marcus. Otherwise, they would not be able to connect to him. The monster would always get in the way.

When they reached the sight of the battlefield, the creature that resembled several prehistoric beasts mashed together was already severely injured.

Multiple of its arms and legs had been severed already, and it was missing three of its heads.

Nevertheless, such a colossal monster had an insane amount of vitality, and it was nowhere close to going down.

For every strike Marcus made against it, the reptilian monstrosity lashed out with equal ferocity. The only reason that Marcus was winning was because of his insanely fast healing.

At the current rate the fight was going, it would likely have been several more hours before a victor was decided.

That was time that they did not have to waste.

So, Roxene, Lyra, and Aerial planned to tip the scales.

"Awooooooo!"

Roxene did not hold back, embracing Paragon of the Divine Wolf and at the same time unleashing Howl of Night.

A sphere of darkness expanding out from her and slammed into the reptilian monster.

Marcus ended up getting caught in the blast as well, but he did not take any damage. Even in his current state, his True Ruler of Darkness racial ability still fully protected him.

This worked out in their favor, as they did not want to end up drawing his ire.

Certainly, he was still trying to consume them with his near endless tendrils that were meant for capturing lifeforms and drawing them in, but his attention was still on the far larger creature tearing into him.

Of course, the reptilian monstrosity was no longer ignoring them.

Roxene's attack had caused major damage, and its body was starting to corrode in several places as darkness energy invaded it.

However, with it lashing out at her, the monster left itself open to being attacked by Marcus.

He tried to drag the thing into his gaping maw and start eating the thing.

His razor sharp teeth tore into it and ripped out large chucks of flesh, and he sliced off a few more of its arms which were sucked deeper into his body.

The monster roared in pain and fury and fought back for all it was worth.

Its claws sliced through Marcus' form, and its multiple mouths chomped down and ripped out chucks of Marcus' body.

This was by far one of the most brutal battles that any of them had ever seen, and showed just how devastating two gargantuan creatures could be.

For all of the damage the two were inflecting on each other, it paled in comparison to the destruction done to the landscape.

Every one of their movements caused earthquakes, and there was not another living thing for over a hundred kilometers that had survived their clash.

'Keep going. We need to soften it up a bit more before Quillon makes his move.' Lyra said over their telepathic connection.

Roxene embraced her own nature and jumped into the battle. Using her teeth and claws to rip and tear.

She had become well over two hundred meters long, but even then she still felt tiny compared to the enemies she was fighting.

Still, she continued on, and after several minutes of concerted effort, Roxene, Lyra, and Aerial, had weakened the reptilian monstrosity enough for Marcus to make his move.

Tens of thousands of tendrils wrapped around the creature and locked it in place.

It was no longer able to get away and was being dragged inside of his mouth.

The giant monster reached out with its remaining arms and held on to prevent itself from being devoured, but it was a losing battle.

Slowly but surely, it was being pulled in. Where it would be shredded into millions of pieces and consumed.

However, it was not quite time for it to go out yet. It still needed to play its role as a distraction for a bit longer.

'Quillon, now!'

Receiving the telepathic message, Quillon drew his sword and started cycling through the attacks of his Ten Greatest Techniques Supreme Skill.

Each one left massive wound on Marcus' body, though they were not quite enough to reach his center.

There was just too much mass in the way, and he healed far too quickly.

At least until Quillon was down to his last and strongest attack.

"Final Slash."

This time Quillons attack cut all the way through Marcus' colossal form. Leaving a several meter wide gash that sliced him in half.

Now separated into two parts, Marcus writhed around in shock and agony.

The chamber they were in rumbled from his movements and rocks the size of small mountains started falling from the ceiling.

In response to the sudden massive act of violence against him, Marcus began firing off tens of thousands of spells.

Magic of every type he could cast went flying through the area, and devastating everything in its wake.

Except, this was only the beginning.

His severed parts were already wriggling and trying to pull themselves back together.

Quillon did not allow this to happen, and eventually Marcus responded by conjuring a near indestructible barrier around himself.

It was the same power that the Dread Burrower had used to defend itself, and Marcus had been forced to use a sacrificial attack to break through. It was only thanks to Deny Destruction that he managed to survive the reckless attack he had dubbed Final Eclipse Meteor.

This time though, they did not have Marcus to breach the barrier. He was the one that had taken the form of the destroyed Doomsday Monster and was continuing its legacy of devastation.

That was where Quillon came in.

His second Supreme Skill was the only thing that could take down the barrier. A necessity if Roxene and Aerial were to reach his core and bring him back to his senses. Even if it would leave Quillon on death's door.

"One with the Blade."
