Gu Zhitong returned to her office from the ward and saw Tang Zhixian sitting inside waiting for her. Her brows furrowed slightly.

“Why haven’t you left yet?”

“Tongtong, I’m waiting for you.”

Tang Zhixian’s lips curved into a smile, and he looked at Gu Zhitong warmly.

No matter if she was wearing the white gown or looked casual, he was deeply captivated by her.

Gu Zhitong walked behind the desk, bent over to tidy the medical records, and said casually, “I don’t have time. If you want to see the opera, go find someone else.”

“Tongtong, I’ve already given the tickets away. Let’s grab something to eat nearby first. You need to fill your stomach before your shift.”

Tang Zhixian kept smiling throughout.

He looked at Gu Zhitong with good-natured patience.

As if any way to accompany her was worth it.

Gu Zhitong rubbed her forehead with a headache and looked at Tang Zhixian with cold eyes, “I will eat. Just finish your work and go quickly, don’t bother with me.”

“Tongtong, I’m free tonight. I’ll join you on your shift. It’s getting close to the end of the year, and there are more emergencies and sudden cases than usual. I can help you when you’re too busy.”

“Then I’ll sit quietly beside you, not disrupting you.”

As Tang Zhixian spoke, he took a few steps to fetch her coat hanging on the rack.

She quickly came out from behind the desk, glared angrily at Tang Zhixian, and took down her coat.

She took off the white gown in front of him and put on the coat.

Taking a deep breath, her eyes filled with anger looked at Tang Zhixian, and she said coldly, “Tang Zhixian, you’re put in the hospital by my dad. I have no right to drive you away, nor do I want to treat you like an enemy. But I won’t like you, no matter what you do, I can never like you again. Can you not keep pestering me and making me look down on you?”

The smile on Tang Zhixian’s face finally couldn’t hold on and faded away.

A trace of sadness crept into his brows as he stood there with darkened eyes.

It seemed like Gu Zhitong had suddenly taken away the sunshine in his life, leaving only rain-like gloom.

“Tongtong, won’t you forgive me?”

In the tense atmosphere, Tang Zhixian spoke dully.

Gu Zhitong lowered her eyes, “Does it matter? If I say I forgive you and you can keep your distance and stop pestering me, then I forgive you.”

That voice was filled with sadness.

“Tongtong, you don’t need to leave. This hospital is like your home. If anyone should go, it’s me.”

Tang Zhixian looked at Gu Zhitong with eyes full of reluctance, and it took a lot of effort to continue, “Let me take you out for dinner one more time. Then I won’t bother you again, okay?”

Gu Zhitong nodded, “As long as you let go, this meal is on me. You’ve helped me a lot lately.”

“Alright.”

Tang Zhixian immediately smiled brightly again.

The two took the elevator downstairs together.

As they walked out of the hospital, a wave of coldness hit them.

She said a faint “thank you” and started walking with him towards a nearby restaurant.

Because Gu Zhitong accepted his scarf, Tang Zhixian felt particularly good, his voice filled with joy, “Tongtong, I saw Huo Song this afternoon. He’s already started working at the TV station. He said he’s staying in G City for the foreseeable future. You can tell, he really likes Momo a lot.”

Gu Zhitong looked up at him in surprise, “Are you close with Huo Song?”

“Not before.”

Tang Zhixian’s answer was meaningful.

Gu Zhitong blinked and said nothing.

“He even asked if I knew why Momo suddenly went on a trip.”

“What did you say?”

“I said I didn’t know. If he hadn’t asked, I wouldn’t even know Momo went traveling.”

While talking, they soon arrived at the restaurant.

“Just share it with me.”

Tang Jinchen didn’t give a reason, only imperiously demanding she share her location.

Lately, Gu Zhitong seemed to have gotten used to his dominance—his domineering ways of kissing her, making her consider him, wait for him, even demanding she like him.

Fearing this, she complied with his request and shared the location, “Anything else?”

“Nothing else.”

Tang Jinchen let out a cheerful laugh over the phone.

A few minutes later.

As the dishes were served, a tall figure appeared in front of Gu Zhitong, with a healthy complexion and a bright smile, “Tongtong!”

“Why are you in G City?”

Gu Zhitong looked at Tang Jinchen in surprise.

Wasn’t he supposed to be very busy?

Tang Jinchen’s eyes fell on the scarf around her neck, and his smile froze instantly. Without a second thought, he removed the scarf from his own neck.

As he stepped forward, he reached out to her, “Tongtong, wear my scarf.”

Ignoring the nearby Tang Zhixian, whose face turned sullen, Tang Jinchen’s eyes were only on Gu Zhitong.
